고려줄딱정벌레의 1 新亞種, L. koreanus rectokoreanus subsp. nov. 고려줄지리딱정벌레 (新稱)을 記載하였다. 그리고 L. koreanus weolseae kwon & Lee, 1984는 L. koreanus koreanus (Reitter)의 同種異名이고, 또 權과 李(1984)의 L. koreanus koreanus (Reitter)는 L. koreanus coreanicus (Breuning)의 誤同定 이다.

Two new species and six new subspecies of the Carabina belonging to the following genera (subgenera) are described and their taxonomic status is discussed: Carabus (Eucarabus), Lipaster (Morphocarabus), Eurycarabus (Tomocarabus) and Damaster (Acoptolabrus and Coptolabrus).
Ultrasonically-assisted Hydrothermal Method for Ferroelectric Material Synthesis

The hydrothermal method enables the production of high-quality piezoelectric materials. In this study, we propose to irradiate the reaction solutions with ultrasonic power during the hydrothermal method to obtain a shorter reaction time and a smooth film surface. A high-pressure reaction container for the ultrasonic transducer was newly developed, and the ultrasonically-assisted hydrothermal method was examined by using this container. The effect of ultrasonic assist on the synthesis of lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) thin films and (K,Na)NbO3 powders was verified. Thicker PZT film, thickness around 10 µm, could be obtained in one process, and (K,Na)NbO3 powder was synthesized in half the previous reaction time.
Abundance of Veillonella spp. does not Reflect Salivary Nitrite Production after Nitrate Ingestion

Veillonella spp. have been reported to be the most prevalent nitrate-reducing bacterial species in the oral cavity. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the abundance of Veillonella spp. and nitrite production after nitrate ingestion. Bacterial samples were obtained from the tongue surfaces of 50 university students. The predominant Veillonella spp., V. atypica, V. dispar, and V. rogosae were identified and enumerated using real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Salivary nitrate and nitrite were measured before and 30, 60, and 90 min after ingestion of 100 ml of beetroot juice. Increased nitrite concentrations were observed in all participants, with a mean increase of 0.61 (0.42-1.10) mM expressed as the median (interquartile range). Veillonella atypica was detected in 40 subjects (80%), V. dispar in 48 (96%), and V. rogosae in 48 (96%), at quantities ranging from 1.3 × 10<sup>2</sup> to 2.8 × 10<sup>7</sup> CFU/ml per subject. The strengths of the correlations of the log colony forming unit (CFU) values of V. atypica, V. dispar, V. rogosae, and the log CFU value of the three species together with the increase in nitrite levels were 0.091, 0.114, -0.228, and 0.060, respectively, none of which were significant (p > 0.05). Our results indicate that the abundance of Veillonella spp. is not related to salivary nitrite production after nitrate ingestion.

In this paper, we propose a new modulation method combining code-division multiple access (CDMA) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), called CDMAQAM. It transmits QAM symbols allocated based on a CDMA signal, and it has the benefit that QAM errors can be recovered if they are in a range where they can be absorbed by CDMA demodulation. We applied the method to railway signaling and developed a CDMA-QAM rail transmission system having a transmission speed of 1500 bps using digital signal processors. We also conducted a field experiment using an actual rail and verified that the system can achieve favorable constellation characteristics.
Development of a Multi-Channel Processing Matched Filter Using FPGA for CDMA-QAM Method

At present, we attempt to apply our proposed CDMA-QAM method to railway signaling, and evaluate basic characteristics using computer simulation. In this paper, we describe development of a multichannel processing matched lter as a CDMA receiver. We noted that Walsh code is 1 or -1, and proposed the design that has no multipliers. In addition, we applied some techniques such as time-sharing processing, and optimized the design to reduce number of logic elements that an FPGA has. As a result, we show that we could implement the multi-channel processing matched lter in an FPGA.
