The Bible and Environmental Ethics An Introduction to the Earth Bible Project
Raymond 한국윤리학회 2014 倫理硏究 Vol.98 No.1
Contemporary ecological crises require a reevaluation of how humans understand themselves in relationship to the rest of the natural world, including a reassessment of the role religion has played in the history of ecological degradation. This article introduces the Earth Bible Project, the work of an international team of biblical scholars in conversation with scholars from other disciplines, especially ecologists, that engages in such a reevaluation of the Christian Bible. This reevaluation has led to the conclusion that the Christian Bible contains both historic roots that have contributed to the ecological crisis as well as ecological wisdom that should be retrieved so that humans may reimagine their relationship to the environment in ways that contribute to environmental ethics.
DISCRETE GROUPS ACTING ON S³ x Rⁿ
Lee, Jong Bum,Lee, Kyung Bai,Frank Raymond TOPOLOGY AND GEOMETRY RESEARCH CENTER 1993 Proceedings of the Topology and Geometry Research Vol.3 No.-
We study the Seifert fiber space constructions modelled on the product space S3 x W in terms of Lee and Raymond's characterization ([LR2]), and show that if a discrete group Q acts properly discontinuously on a space W, then the trivial extension S3 x Q is the only extension of S3 by Q that can act weakly S3 -equivariantly on S3 x W. When Q is a discrete group acting properly on R² with compact quotient, the discrete groups acting on S3 x R² as a group of weakly S3 -equivariant homeomorphisms (i.e. , as Seifert automorphisms) are characterized and the actions are described.
From Dominion Day to Canada Day, 1946-1982: History, Heritage and National Identity
Raymond B. Blake(Raymond B. Blake ) 한국캐나다학회 2011 Asia-Pacific Journal of Canadian Studies (APJCS) Vol.17 No.2
The more than twenty attempts in the Canadian Parliament from 1946 to 1982 to change the official name of Canada’s birthday from Dominion Day to Canada Day shows that change did not come rapidly to national symbols after the Second World War. The struggle over the name change was not a contest between those who wanted to keep Canada British and those who wanted Canada to have its own unique Canadian identity, but rather a debate over the role that Canada’s history and heritage should play in shaping national symbols. This paper also contends that the place that Canada’s British heritage played in Canada’s national identity became a partisan political issue as the federal government began to remove lingering symbols of the British heritage to meet the growing separatist movement in Quebec. In other words, Canada’s national identity was being manipulated and manufactured in the pursuit of national unity.
A Wideband Inductorless LNA for Inter-band and Intra-band Carrier Aggregation in LTE-Advanced and 5G
raymond gyaang,이동호,김주성 한국전기전자학회 2019 전기전자학회논문지 Vol.23 No.3
This paper presents a wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) that is suitable for LTE-Advanced and 5Gcommunication standards employing carrier aggregation (CA). The proposed LNA encompasses a common inputstage and a dual output second stage with a buffer at each distinct output. This architecture is targeted to operatein both intra-band (contiguous and non-contiguous) and inter-band CA. In the proposed design, the input andsecond stages employ a gm enhancement with resistive feedback technique to achieve self-biasing, enhanced gain, wide bandwidth as well as reduced noise figure of the proposed LNA. An up/down power controller controls thesingle input single out (SISO) and single input multiple outputs (SIMO) modes of operation for inter-band andintra-band operations. The proposed LNA is designed with a 45nm CMOS technology. For SISO mode of operation, the LNA operates from 0.52GHz to 4.29GHz with a maximum power gain of 17.77dB, 2.88dB minimum noise figureand input (output) matching performance better than -10dB. For SIMO mode of operation, the proposed LNAoperates from 0.52GHz to 4.44GHz with a maximum voltage gain of 18.30dB, a minimum noise figure of 2.82dBwith equally good matching performance. An IIP3 value of -6.7dBm is achieved in both SISO and SIMO operations. with a maximum current of 42mA consumed (LNA+buffer in SIMO operation) from a 1.2V supply.

Background/Aim: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) training requires varying degrees of staff assistance regarding operation of the fluoroscopy machine via a foot pedal. Efficiency is important to acquire during this training due to radiation risks. In this study, we evaluate the effect of controlling endoscopy and fluoroscopy unit on duct cannulation rates (CRs) and total fluoroscopy time (FT) for fellows in training. Methods: 204 patients undergoing ERCP were randomized to one of two groups: 1) “Endoscopist Driven” group in which the endoscopist controlled the foot pedal for fluoroscopy, and 2) “Assistant Driven” group in which attending or fellow controlled the foot pedal while the other team member controlled the endoscope. Various measures including selective duct CR and total FT were recorded. Results: There was no significant difference in mean procedure duration between the two groups (32 minutes vs. 33 minutes, p=0.70). There was also no statistically significant difference in CR (83.7% vs. 77.4%, p=0.25) or FT (3.27 minutes vs. 3.54 minutes, p=0.48). Conclusions: ERCP is a technically challenging procedure which requires extensive supervision. This study demonstrates that CR and FT are not affected by who controls the fluoroscopy. Respect for the elderly and hence the associated rights support a generational contract. Nevertheless, the case of the recent debate on the universal retirement scheme in Hong Kong has raised concerns about its strength. We identify relevant items from the sixth wave of the World Values Survey to explore the orientations of different generations toward others. The analysis shows differences between younger and older generations. Regression analyses show that values are not significant in explaining the differences, but various positions, including sex, marital status, and education, and perceptions of the elderly are relevant. Such differences across generations might weaken the generational contract and potentially engender conflicts as shown in the recent debate about the retirement scheme. We suggest short-and long-term interest calculations, informed by their positions, play a more significant role in policy discussions and decisions, rather than simply appealing to values

Background: Many patients experience bilateral knee osteoarthritis and require bilateral total knee replacement (TKR). Same-stage, bilateral TKR is proposed to be a cost-effective and safe solution compared to two-stage, but conflicting results in the literature are reported. We aim to compare the costs, safety, and rehabilitation performance of patients in same-stage versus two-stage, bilateral TKR with our centre’s perioperative protocol. Materials and methods: We retrospectively reviewed 175 patients (95 same-stage, 80 two-stage) who had undergone bilateral TKR in our centre. Patient selection for same-stage, bilateral TKR was strictly protocol-driven and required fulfilment of all criteria, including age < 75 years, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade 1 or 2, body mass index (BMI) < 40, and having non-complex arthritis. All patients followed a standardised pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. The cost, safety profiles, and rehabilitation outcomes were compared between the same-stage and two-stage groups. Results: The same-stage, bilateral TKR reduced the length of hospital stays by 5.71 days per patient, decreased the operation time by 27.4 min, saved 3.34 (18.6%) physiotherapy sessions, and 3.78 (51.5%) occupational therapy sessions. The same-stage group experienced a higher haemoglobin drop but no significant difference in transfusion percentage, transfusion volume, complication rate, and readmission rate. The two-stage subgroup with anaesthetic risk, age, and BMI similar to the same-stage group showed the same results. Same-stage, bilateral TKR patients experienced no significant difference in final post-operative pain levels and rehabilitation outcomes as two-stage TKR patients. Conclusion: This study showed that same-stage, bilateral TKR can reduce costs, with similar safety profiles and rehabilitation outcomes compared to the two-stage, bilateral TKR.
