Neuron Circuit Using a Thyristor and Inter-neuron Connection with Synaptic Devices
Ranjan, Rajeev,Kwon, Min-Woo,Park, Jungjin,Kim, Hyungjin,Park, Byung-Gook The Institute of Electronics and Information Engin 2015 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.15 No.3
We propose a simple and compact thyristor-based neuron circuit. The thyristor exhibits bi-stable characteristics that can mimic the action potential of the biological neuron, when it is switched between its OFF-state and ON-state with the help of assist circuit. In addition, a method of inter-neuron connection with synaptic devices is proposed, using double current mirror circuit. The circuit utilizes both short-term and long-term plasticity of the synaptic devices by flowing current through them and transferring it to the post-synaptic neuron. The double current mirror circuit is capable of shielding the pre-synaptic neuron from the post synaptic-neuron while transferring the signal through it, maintaining the synaptic conductance unaffected by the change in the input voltage of the post-synaptic neuron.

Perspective of Membrane Technology in Dairy Industry: A Review
Kumar, Pavan,Sharma, Neelesh,Ranjan, Rajeev,Kumar, Sunil,Bhat, Z.F.,Jeong, Dong Kee Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.9
Membrane technology has revolutionized the dairy sector. Different types of membranes are used in the industry for various purposes like extending the shelf life of milk without exposure to heat treatment, standardization of the major components of milk for tailoring new products as well increasing yield and quality of the dairy products, and concentrating, fractionation and purification of milk components especially valuable milk proteins in their natural state. In the cheese industry, membranes increase the yield and quality of cheese and control the whey volume, by concentrating the cheese milk. With the advancement of newer technology in membrane processes, it is possible to recover growth factor from whey. With the introduction of superior quality membranes as well as newer technology, the major limitation of membranes, fouling or blockage has been overcome to a greater extent.

This study analyzed the BC associated with PM1 and the contribution of biomass burning to the BC using a portable seven-channel Dual spot Aethalometer in and around Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, India, during April 2021. Additionally, CO2 and meteorological parameters (Temperature, Pressure, and Relative Humidity) was measured. The minimum concentration of BC was found in rural areas where the contribution of biomass burning to the BC is highest. The observed spatial variability of BC over Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) area is minimal. Five days back-trajectory analysis was done using the Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model to understand the regional influences of air masses at Gangtok. The air mass of the studied region is under influence of trans-regional transport from Indo-Gangetic Plains affecting the BC concentration over the studied region. The black carbon presence in the ambient air near the glacier heights in the Eastern Himalayan region may significantly cause localized warming, thereby enhancing glacier melts. The results have significant bearing for the policy-makers to take corrective steps in addressing the issue of rising BC concentration in high altitude regions. A further detailed study is needed to examine the effect of BC on radiative forcing and its large-scale effect on the East Asian summer monsoon using regional climate models.

Hodgkin’s lymphoma most commonly presents as painless lymphadenopathy and systemic B symptoms like fever, nightsweats, and weight loss. But rarely, it can present with unusual paraneoplastic manifestations. In the present case, we reporta 30-year-old woman who presented with sub-acute onset pan-cerebellar symptoms. The serum neuronal antibody panel wasnegative. She underwent F-18 FDG PET/CT to evaluate the neoplastic etiology as the underlying cause, which demonstratedboth the primary etiology and the paraneoplastic changes in the brain.

Outer membrane proteins of Pasteurella (P.) multocida have been known to be protective immunogens. Pasteurella lipoprotein E (PlpE) has been reported to be an important cross reactive outer membrane protein in P. multocida. The gene encoding the PlpE of P. multocida serotypes A: 3, B: 2and D: 1 was amplified from the genomic DNA. The amplified products were cloned and the nucleotide sequence was determined. Sequence analysis of the recombinant clones revealed a single open reading frame of 1,011 bp, 1,008 bp and 1,017 bp encoding a protein with a calculated molecular mass of 37.829 kDa, 37.389 kDa and 37.965 kDa for serotypes A:3, B: 2 and D: 1 respectively. The comparison of the plpE sequence in different capsular types revealed a high degree (>90%) of homology. Furthermore, the plpE gene of Haemorhhagic septicaemia causing serotype (B: 2) was expressed in E. coli and recombinant PlpE was strongly immunostained by antiserum against whole cell antigen, indicating that the protein is expressed in vivo.
