Mechanochemical synthesis of zinc ferrite, ZnFe2O4, was attempted from a powder mixture of iron (III) oxide, alpha-Fe2O3 and zinc (II) oxide, ZnO. Nanocrystalline zinc ferrite, ZnFe2O4 powders were successfully synthesized only bymilling for 30 hours. Evidence of the ZnFe2O4 formation was absent for the powders milled for 10 and 20 hours; the milling lowered the crystallinity of the starting materials. Heating after milling enhanced the formation of ZnFe2O4, crystal growth of ZnFe2O4 and the unreacted starting materials. The unreacted starting materials decreased their amounts by heating at higher temperatures.

A marine diesel engine should realize optimal operation efficiency while reducing NOx, PM (Particulate Matters) and other emissions. Fuel injection systems that use electronic control can become an effective means of achieving that objective. However. it still needs some accurate and instant information in order to bring its ability into full potential while sailing on the sea. The important information of them are a shaft torque and continuous combustion pressures of all cylinders. The shaft torque and the propeller thrust described in this paper are measured at an intermediate shaft by using a unique principle that one of two electromagnet coils oscillates a vibrating strip which the length changes with force and the other coil picks up the change of the frequency of the vibrating strip. For further reference, the shaft power meter multiplied the torque by the shaft revolution has already had about 750 sets of sales performance. The research presented in this paper started about ten years ago and is concerned with the development of a combustion pressure sensor that uses the same principle. Recently, the pressure sensor which bears continuous operation has been developed after a hard struggle, that is, the system that consists of a shaft horsepower meter, a propeller thrust meter and a combustion pressure sensor has been completed and has been shown to be reliable. This paper describes the configuration of this system, the material of the combustion pressure sensor, the principle of that, and the improving point of the sensor, and, we finally consider the use of this system.

Background/Aims: We applied a back light system (BLS) with a magnifying glass to improve the ability to assess the adequacy ofspecimen sampling using endosonography. We conducted this study to evaluate the effcacy of the BLS in sampling of specimens byendoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of solid pancreatic masses. Methods: This was a prospective, randomized, crossover, single-center clinical trial. An endosonographer evaluated adequacy on grossvisual inspection and identified whitish specimen sampling sites with and without the BLS according to a randomization sequence inthe first and second passes with a 25-G needle. On cytological evaluation, the presence of well-defined pancreatic ductal epithelium wasevaluated by a cytopathologist who was blinded to any clinical information. Results: A total of 80 consecutive patients were eligible during the study period. Adequacy was observed for 52 specimens (65%) withthe BLS and 54 (68%) without the BLS (p=0.88). In assessment of specimen adequacy on gross examination, only fair agreement wasobserved both with and without BLS (kappa score 0.40 and 0.29, respectively). Conclusions: The BLS did not influence the ability to identify specimen sampling sites or reliable assessment of specimen site adequacyusing gross visual inspection.

Background/Aims: This study aimed to identify the predictive factors for inaccurate endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needleaspiration (EUS-FNA) diagnosis of swollen lymph nodes without rapid on-site cytopathological evaluation. Methods: Eighty-three consecutive patients who underwent EUS-FNA for abdominal or mediastinal lymph nodes from January2008 to June 2017 were included from a prospectively maintained EUS-FNA database and retrospectively reviewed. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of EUS-FNA for the detection of neoplastic diseases were calculated. Candidate factors for inaccurate diagnosis(lymph node size and location, needle type, puncture route, number of passes, and causative disease) were evaluated by comparisonbetween accurately diagnosed cases and others. Results: The final diagnosis of the punctured lymph node was classified as neoplastic (65 cases: a metastatic lymph node, malignantlymphoma, or Crow-Fukase syndrome) or non-neoplastic (18 cases: a reactive node or amyloidosis). The sensitivity, specificity, andaccuracy were 83%, 94%, and 86%, respectively. On multivariate analyses, small size of the lymph node was the sole predictive factor forinaccurate EUS-FNA diagnosis with a significant difference (odds ratios, 19.8; 95% confidence intervals, 3.15–124; p=0.0015). Conclusions: The lymph node size of <16 mm was the only independent factor associated with inaccurate EUS-FNA diagnosis ofswollen lymph nodes.
