An efficient enantioselective synthetic method for the synthesis of (2R)-5-phenyl-2-alkylproline tert-butyl esters was reported. The phase-transfer catalytic alkylation of tert-butyl-5-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate in the presence of chiral quaternary ammonium catalysts gave the corresponding alkylated products (up to 97% ee). The following diastereoselective reductions afforded chiral 5-phenyl-2-alkylprolines which can be applied to asymmetric synthesis as organocatalysts or synthesis of biologically active proline based compounds, such as chiral α-alkylated analogues of (+)-RP66803, as potential CCK antagonists.

Graphic Abstract

An efficient enantioselective synthetic method for the synthesis of (2R)-5-phenyl-2-alkylproline tert-butyl esters was reported.

We investigated the effects of ZnO thin film deposition methods on the performance of inverted polymer solar cells with a structure of ITO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM/MoO3/Al. The ZnO thin films were deposited by various methods (spin coating of nanoparticles, sol-gel process, atomic layer deposition) and their morphology was analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The device with ZnO nanoparticle thin films showed the highest power conversion efficiency of 3 % with low series resistance and high shunt resistance. The superior performance of the device with the ZnO nanoparticle layer is attributed to better electron extraction capability.

An efficient enantioselective synthetic method for alpha-amido-alpha-alkylmalonates via phase-transfer catalytic alpha-alkylation was successfully developed. The alpha-alkylation of alpha-amidomalonates under phase-transfer catalytic conditions (50% KOH, toluene, -40 degrees C) in the presence of (S,S)-3,4,5-trifluorophenyl-NAS bromide afforded the corresponding alpha-amido-alpha-alkylmalonates in high chemical yields (up to 99%) and optical yields (up to 97% ee), which could be readily converted to versatile chiral intermediates bearing alpha-amino quaternary stereogenic centers. The synthetic potential of this methodology was demonstrated via the synthesis of chiral azlactone, oxazoline, and unnatural alpha-amino acid.

A new efficient enantioselective synthetic method of (+)-isonitramine is reported. (+)-Isonitramine was obtained in 12 steps (98% ee and 43% overall yield) from δ-valerolactam via enantioselective phase-transfer catalytic alkylation, Dieckman condensation, and diastereoselective reduction as key steps.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Synthesis of metal oxide nanotubular structures using atomic layer deposition on nanotemplates
Daekyun Jeong,Jiyoung Kim,hyunjung Shin,Jaegab Lee,Myungmo Sung 한국물리학회 2004 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.45 No.2
Nanotube fabrication processes through modication of conventional nanotemplate methods are investigated. In order to fabricate the nanotubes by using nanotemplates, we treated surfacemodi cation self-assembled monolayers on the nanotemplates in order to achieve selective deposition. We used commercially available polycarbonate nanotemplates, supplying uniform nano-scale pores and selective removal of the templates. We deposited conformal and uniform thin tube walls by using atomic layer deposition for oxide layers such as titania and zirconia. The wall thickness was precisely controlled by the number of deposition cycles of the ALD process. The shapes of nanotubes were controlled by template pore sizes and thicknesses. The various properties of the resultant metal-oxide nanotube were examined using by high-resolution transmission electron microscopye, eld-emission scanning electron microscopye and a selective area electron-diraction pattern.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examined the kinematic relationship and differences through the range of motion (ROM),muscle activity, and vertical ground reaction force (VGRF) during forward and backward lunge movements, which are effective inimproving muscle strength and balance ability of the lower extremities, and to provide clinical information on more efficient lungemovements. Design: Cross-sectional studyMethods: Fifteen adult males who met the selection criteria were tested for their dominant feet.Forward and backward lunges werethen performed, and the ROM, muscle activity, and VGRF were measured for kinematic analysis during the lunge movement.Thedifferences betweenthe forward lunge and backward lunge intervention were examined using a paired t-test. Results: A significant increase in the ROM of the knee and ankle was observed during the forward and backward lunges (p<0.05). In addition, in terms of the muscle activity, the peak values of the vastus medialis oblique (VMO) and VGRF also showed a significant increase in the forward lunge compared to the backward lunge (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study showed an increase in VGRF peak value, knee and ankle ROM, and VMO muscle activity duringforward lunge. Based on these results, it is considered necessary to apply differently depending on the direction of progress inconsideration of the musculoskeletal situation and physical ability during the lunge movement.
