THE AKARI FIS CATALOGUE OF YSOS AND EXTRAGALACTIC OBJECTS

        L. Viktor Toth,GABOR MARTON,SAROLTA ZAHORECZ,LAJOS G. BALAZS,ANDREA NAGY 한국천문학회 2017 天文學論叢 Vol.32 No.1

The point sources in the Bright Source Catalogue of the \textit{AKARI} Far-Infrared Surveyor (FIS) were classified based on their FIR and mid-IR fluxes and colours into young stellar object (YSO) and extragalactic source types using a Quadratic Discriminant Analysis method (QDA) and Support Vector Machines (SVM). The reliability of the selection of YSO candidates is high, and the number of known YSO candidates were increased significantly, that we demonstrate in the case of the nearby open cluster {IC348}. Our results show that we can separate galactic and extragalactic \textit{AKARI} point sources in the multidimensioal space of FIR fluxes and colours with high reliability, however, differentiating among the extragalactic sub-types needs further information.

FOREGROUND OF GAMMA-RAY BURSTS (GRBS) FROM AKARI FIS DATA

        L. Viktor Toth,YASUO DOI,SAROLTA ZAHORECZ,Marton Agas,LAJOS G. BALAZS,Adrienn Forro,Istvan I. Racz 한국천문학회 2017 天文學論叢 Vol.32 No.1

A significant number of the parameters of a gamma-ray burst (GRB) and its host galaxy are calculated from the afterglow. There are various methods obtaining extinction values for the necessary correction for galactic foreground. These are: galaxy counts, from HI 21 cm surveys, from spectroscopic measurements and colors of nearby Galactic stars, or using extinction maps calculated from infrared surveys towards the GRB. We demonstrate that \textit{AKARI} Far-Infrared Surveyor sky surface brightness maps are useful uncovering the fine structure of the galactic foreground of GRBs. Galactic cirrus structures of a number of GRBs are calculated with a 2 arcminute resolution, and the results are compared to that of other methods.

        CCM key comparison CCM.D-K4 'Hydrometer'

        Lorefice, S,Becerra, L O,Lenard, E,Lee, Y J,Lee, W G,Madec, T,Meury, P A,Caceres, J,Santos, C,Vamossy, C,Man, J,Fen, K,Toda, K,Wright, J,Bettin, H,Toth, H BUREAU INTERNATIONAL DES POIDS ET MESURES 2016 METROLOGIA -BERLIN- Vol.53 No.-

This report presents the comparison philosophy, methodology, analysis and the results of the designed CCM.D-K4 key comparison that covered the calibration of high resolution hydrometers for liquid and alcoholometers in the density range 600 kg/m3 to 2000 kg/m3 at the temperature of 20°C. The main purpose of this comparison was not only to evaluate the degree of equivalence in the calibration of high accuracy hydrometers between NMI participants, but also to link, were it is possible, the results of previous comparisons to Key Comparison Reference Values (KCRVs) of CCM.D-K4. Eleven NMI laboratories took part in the CCM.D-K4 divided in two groups (petals).

With the CCM.D-K4 purpose, two similar sets consisting of three hydrometers for liquid density determinations and an alcoholometer were circulated to the NMI participants as a travelling standard in the time interval from January 2011 to April 2012.

Twelve Key Comparison Reference Values (KCRVs) for each petal have been obtained at the density values related to the tested density marks of the transfer standards by the results of participants. The KCRVs and corresponding uncertainties were calculated by the weighted mean in the case of consistent results, otherwise the median was used.

The degree of equivalence (DoE) with respect to the corresponding KCRV was determined for each participant and, in this particular comparison, the Weighted Least Squares (WLS) method was used to link the individual DoE of each participant by a continuous function.

Significant drift of the transfer standards was not detected.

This report also gives instructions on calculating pair-wise degrees of equivalence, with the addition of any information on correlations that may be necessary to estimate more accurately as well as the procedure for linking international comparisons to the CCM.D-K4. Finally an example of linkage to the CCM.D-K4 is given by dealing with the results of the bilateral comparison between INRiM and NMIA, which was added to this comparison so that all participants were engaged after the breakage of the 9340171 artefact.

A particularly good agreement was found among the results provided by most of the participants, even if some systematic differences and either underestimated or overestimated uncertainties of the submitted results can be identified with respect to the KCRVs. In general the deviations of the laboratory results to the KCRVs are within of 1/3rd to 1/4th of a scale division and the uncertainty at 95% is usually within half a division. During the analysis of the submitted results, a systematic difference between the first and last immersed mark was also noted, possibly due to a temperature gradient along the stem and/or wetting of the stem around the tested mark, and therefore a corrected claimed uncertainty from each laboratory is expected. However this comparison may help the laboratories to solve some residual or marginal problems as well as to better understand the uncertainty components.

The comparison fully supports the calibration measurement capabilities table in the BIPM key comparison database (KCDB). The results can be used to link regional comparisons to this CCM key comparison

Main text

To reach the main text of this paper, click on Final Report. Note that this text is that which appears in Appendix B of the BIPM key comparison database kcdb.bipm.org/.

The final report has been peer-reviewed and approved for publication by the CCM, according to the provisions of the CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement (CIPM MRA).

      • Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of a LBLOCA in a PWR Nuclear Power Plant: Results of the Phase V of the BEMUSE programme

        Perez, M.,Reventos, F.,Batet, L.,Guba, A.,Toth, I.,Mieusset, T.,Bazin, P.,de Crecy, A.,Borisov, S.,Skorek, T.,Glaeser, H.,Joucla, J.,Probst, P.,Ui, A.,Chung, B.D.,Oh, D.Y.,Pernica, R.,Kyncl, M.,Macek, North-Holland Pub. Co 2011 Nuclear engineering and design Vol.241 No.10

This paper presents the results and the main lessons learnt from Phase V of BEMUSE, an international programme promoted by the Working Group on Accident Management and Analysis (GAMA) of OECD to address the issue of the capabilities of best-estimate computational tools and uncertainty analysis. The scope of Phase V is the uncertainty analysis of a Large Break Loss-Of-Coolant-Accident (LBLOCA) in a Pressurized Water Reactor. Fourteen participants from twelve organizations and ten countries participated in the Phase V of BEMUSE. The paper starts with a general description of the BEMUSE programme including the objectives, structure, and the outline of the Phase V specification. Then it summarizes some general aspects on the uncertain model parameters and the results for the uncertainty analysis and for the sensitivity evaluation. To end with, general recommendations and conclusions are presented as practical guidance for uncertainty analysis performance.

FOXO protects against age‐progressive axonal degeneration

        Hwang, Inah,Oh, Hwanhee,Santo, Evan,Kim, Do‐,Yeon,Chen, John W.,Bronson, Roderick T.,Locasale, Jason W.,Na, Yoonmi,Lee, Jaclyn,Reed, Stewart,Toth, Miklos,Yu, Wai H.,Muller, Florian L.,Paik, Jihy John Wiley and Sons Inc. 2018 AGING CELL Vol.17 No.1

Summary

Neurodegeneration resulting in cognitive and motor impairment is an inevitable consequence of aging. Little is known about the genetic regulation of this process despite its overriding importance in normal aging. Here, we identify the Forkhead Box O (FOXO) transcription factor 1, 3, and 4 isoforms as a guardian of neuronal integrity by inhibiting age‐progressive axonal degeneration in mammals. FOXO expression progressively increased in aging human and mouse brains. The nervous system‐specific deletion of Foxo transcription factors in mice accelerates aging‐related axonal tract degeneration, which is followed by motor dysfunction. This accelerated neurodegeneration is accompanied by levels of white matter astrogliosis and microgliosis in middle‐aged Foxo knockout mice that are typically only observed in very old wild‐type mice and other aged mammals, including humans. Mechanistically, axonal degeneration in nerve‐specific Foxo knockout mice is associated with elevated mTORC1 activity and accompanying proteotoxic stress due to decreased Sestrin3 expression. Inhibition of mTORC1 by rapamycin treatment mimics FOXO action and prevented axonal degeneration in Foxo knockout mice with accelerated nervous system aging. Defining this central role for FOXO in neuroprotection during mammalian aging offers an invaluable window into the aging process itself.
