        경북 성주지역 장수노인의 계절별 식품섭취 상태

        본 연구는 우리나라 장수노인들의 식품섭취상태를 분석 평가하고 건강한 장수를 위한 식생활 지침의 설정을 위한 기초자료를 얻고자 수행되었다. 연구 대상은 경상북도 성주군에 거주하는 85세 이상 고령노인 중에서 일상 생활에 문제가 없는 224명이었으며 이들을 대상으로 반복 24시간 회상법을 이용하여 1년간 4회의 계절별 식품 섭취 조사를 실시하였으며 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 계절별 식품군별 섭취량에 있어서 남자노인은 감자류의 섭취량이 여름철에 유의적으로 높고, 버섯류의 섭취량이 가을철에 유의하게 높은 것을 제외하고는 모든 식품군의 섭취량에 있어 계절별 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 여자노인의 경우 곡류, 당류, 두류, 채소류, 과일류, 조미료류, 음료 및 주류, 육류, 우유류, 어패류의 섭취량이 겨울철에 유의하게 높았으며, 종실류, 해조류, 난류의 섭취량은 계절에 따른 차이가 없었다. 조사 대상자들의 연평균 1일 총 식품 섭취량은 594.4±186.1 g이었으며 이 중에서 513.5±161.2 g(86.4%)는 식물성 식품군으로부터 섭취하였고 79.3±56.7 g(13.3%)는 동물성 식품군으로부터 섭취하였다. 섭취량이 가장 높았던 식품군은 곡류였으며그 다음이 채소류, 과일류, 어패류, 음료 및 주류, 조미료류, 두류, 육류, 우유류, 감자류 등의 순이었다. 장수 노인대상자들의 음식별 섭취빈도는 밥류에 있어서는 쌀밥의 섭취비율이 80.1~89.2%로 가장 높았으며 국과 찌개류에서는 쇠고기국, 된장국, 된장찌개의 섭취 비율이 높았다. 어육류 식품의 경우 조기구이의 섭취비율(9.4~12.7%)이 높았으며, 해조류 식품의 경우 김구이의 섭취비율(7.4~20.5%)이 높았고, 각 계절마다 계절식품의 섭취비율이 높았다. 김치류의 경우 배추김치의 섭취비율이 4계절 모두 70% 이상으로 높게 나타났다. 일품요리류는 손쉽게 조리할 수 있는 라면과 국수의 섭취비율이 높았다.<br/> 본 연구의 결과에서 경북 성주지역 장수 노인들의 계절별 식품 섭취량에 있어 겨울철의 식품 섭취량이 다른계절에 비해 유의하게 높았으며, 남자노인보다는 여자노인이 식품섭취에 계절에 의한 영향을 더욱더 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 장수 노인들은 가공식품보다는 계절마다 제철에 생산되는 자연 식품의 섭취비율이 높았다. 전반적으로 장수노인들은 소식의 경향을 보였으며 이와 같은 소식습관과 신선한 식물성 식품들의 일상 섭취가 건강한 장수에 영향을 미쳤을 가능성도 있을 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of this study was to estimate food intakes of the long-lived elderly and to obtain the data for establishing dietary guidelines that may be recommended for the general population for the sake of longevity. The subjects of the study were 224 elderly people of age over 85 years living in Kyungpook Sung-Ju area who have no problem in daily living. The food consumption survey was carried out seasonally by the repeated 24-hr recall method for one year. The subject group for this study was composed of 58 males and 166 females, the average age being 87 years old. Food intakes of the winter were more than any other seasons. The mean daily total food intake per capita was 594.4 g, 513.5 g (86.4%) from plant foods and 79.3 g (13.3%) from animal foods. The sequence of high intakes of food groups were cereals, vegetables, fruits, fishes, legumes and meats. Boiled white rice, beef soup, soybean paste soup, soybean paste stew, broiled yellow croaker, kimchi, ra myon and broiled noodles were consumed most frequently. In conclusion, the subjects consumed much more plants foods than animal foods and consumed more natural and seasonal foods than processed foods and also showed food habits of eating small meals. Dietary habits of eating small meals containing abundant amount of fresh plant foods might partially contribute to the longevity of the subjects.

        Antigenieity Study of CFA-001,Cefazolin,a Cephalosperin Derivative Produced by an Enzymatic Semisynthesis

        The antigenic potential of CFA-001, cefazolin, a cephalosporin derivative produced by an enzymatic semisynthesis, was determined in Hartley guinea pigs. A battery of tests employed consisted of active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA), passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA), and indirect hemagglutination test (IHA). The results were as follows: 1) In ASA, no signs attributable to anaphylaxis was observed in guinea pigs sensitized with CFA-001, whereas OVA-sensitized animals induced severe anaphylactic symptoms; 2) guinea pigs did not produce antibodies against CFA-001 when sensitized with or without Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) in homologous PCA tests. Meanwhile, antibodies against ovalbumin (OVA) were clearly detected; 3) No CFA-001-specific hemagglutination was observed in the IHA using sera obtained from CFA-001-sensitized guinea pigs. These results suggest that CFA-001 has no antigenicity potential in guinea pigs.

      • HDAC6 Inhibitors Rescued the Defective Axonal Mitochondrial Movement in Motor Neurons Derived from the Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells of Peripheral Neuropathy Patients with <i> HSPB1</i> Mutation

        <P>The Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease 2F (CMT2F) and distal hereditary motor neuropathy 2B (dHMN2B) are caused by autosomal dominantly inherited mutations of the heat shock 27 kDa protein 1 (<I>HSPB1</I>) gene and there are no specific therapies available yet. Here, we assessed the potential therapeutic effect of HDAC6 inhibitors on peripheral neuropathy with<I> HSPB1</I> mutation using in vitro model of motor neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) of CMT2F and dHMN2B patients. The absolute velocity of mitochondrial movements and the percentage of moving mitochondria in axons were lower both in CMT2F-motor neurons and in dHMN2B-motor neurons than those in controls, and the severity of the defective mitochondrial movement was different between the two disease models. CMT2F-motor neurons and dHMN2B-motor neurons also showed reduced <I>α</I>-tubulin acetylation compared with controls. The newly developed HDAC6 inhibitors, CHEMICAL X4 and CHEMICAL X9, increased acetylation of <I>α</I>-tubulin and reversed axonal movement defects of mitochondria in CMT2F-motor neurons and dHMN2B-motor neurons. Our results suggest that the neurons derived from patient-specific iPSCs can be used in drug screening including HDAC6 inhibitors targeting peripheral neuropathy.</P>

        Medical Thoracoscopy in Pleural Disease: Experience from a One-Center Study

        Background: Medical thoracoscopy (MT) is a minimally invasive, endoscopic procedure for exploration of the pleural cavity under conscious sedation and local anesthesia. MT has been performed at the Seoul National University Hospital since February 2014. This paper summarizes the findings and outcomes of MT cases at this hospital. Methods: Patients who had undergone MT were enrolled in the study. MT was performed by pulmonologists, using both rigid and semi-rigid thoracoscopes. During the procedure, patients were under conscious sedation with fentanyl and midazolam. Medical records were reviewed for clinical data. Results: From February 2014 to January 2016, 50 procedures (47 cases) were performed (diagnostic MT, 26 cases; therapeutic MT, 24 cases). The median age of patients was 66 years (59-73 years), and 38 patients (80.9%) were male. The median procedure duration from initial incision to insertion of the chest tube was 37 minutes. The median doses of fentanyl and midazolam were $50{\mu}g$ and 5 mg, respectively. All procedures were performed without unexpected events. Of the 26 cases of pleural disease with an unknown cause, 19 were successfully diagnosed using MT. Additionally, diagnostic MT provided clinically useful information in the other six patients. Therapeutic MT was very effective for treatment of malignant pleural effusion or empyema. The median number of days with chest tube drainage was 6 (3 days for diagnostic MT and 8 days for therapeutic MT). Conclusion: MT is a useful and necessary procedure for both diagnosis and treatment of pleural diseases.

      • Development of iron(II) sulfate nanoparticles produced by hot-melt extrusion and their therapeutic potentials for colon cancer

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Particle size reduction of FeSO<SUB>4</SUB> (iron(II) sulfate, IS) from micron to nano size was achieved by a combination of hot-melt extrusion (HME) processing and the input of Span 80, Tween 80, and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) 6000. Conveying, kneading, and extruding steps of the HME process and a decrease in the surface tension by surfactants were introduced to produce FeSO<SUB>4</SUB> nanoparticles (NPs) in an aqueous environment. The FeSO<SUB>4</SUB>-based NPs (ISNPs) in the dispersion were composed of FeSO<SUB>4</SUB>, Span 80, Tween 80, and PEG 6000 and displayed a hydrodynamic size of 350–400 nm (5–50 mg/mL ISNPs concentration range) and a spherical shape. Considering the feeding ratio of FeSO<SUB>4</SUB> (20%, w/w) used for preparing the ISNPs, FeSO<SUB>4</SUB> appears to be wrapped by Span 80, Tween 80, and PEG 6000 according to the results of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. ISNPs exhibited different thermodynamic properties from those of FeSO<SUB>4</SUB> itself. In colon adenocarcinoma (Caco-2) cells, the ISNPs group exhibited enhanced antiproliferation and apoptosis potentials compared to the FeSO<SUB>4</SUB> group (<I>p</I> < 0.05). Histological staining data of a dissected intestine after oral administration of ISNPs suggest the absence of severe intestinal toxicities compared to the control (no treatment) group. All of these results imply the feasibility of the use of the developed ISNPs for the treatment of colon cancers with oral administration.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Modeling & Simulation Software Design for Coverage Analysis of Multiple Radio Positioning Integration System

        Since the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) may not provide navigation information due to external interferences, many countries have plans to prepare a backup system for this situation. One of the possible GNSS backup systems is a multiple radio positioning integration system in combination with the terrestrial radio navigation system. Before constructing such a GNSS backup system, M&S software is needed to analyze if the system satisfies the performance the required navigation performance. This study presents requirements of M&S software for coverage analysis of the navigation system, and proposes an M&S software design scheme on the basis of the requirements. The M&S software is implemented, and coverage analysis is performed to verify the validity of the proposed design scheme.

        Background: Keloids are benign cutaneous lesions that result from excessive collagen synthesis and deposition. Earlobe keloids in particular are seen as a complication of plastic surgery or piercing. Their management is still controversial. Many different treatment modalities may be used for this purpose; however, the therapeutic results are often not satisfactory. Cryosurgery is used either as the monotherapy or combined with other modalities. Liquid nitrogen is the most frequently used cryogenic agent. The dipstick, spray, or probe techniques of cryosurgery are available. However, traditional cryosurgery requires one to 20 treatment sessions to achieve significant improvement or complete regression of hypertrophic scars and keloids Objectives: To evaluate the effect of intralesional cryosurgery in Korean patients with earlobe keloid scars. Methods: We treated 10 earlobe keloid scar patients with intralesional cryosurgery. Results: 8 patients revealed more than 50% improvements. Adverse events other than edema and oozing were minimal after the treatment. Conclusion: We suggest that the intralesional cryosurgery may be very effective and safe treatment in the earlobe keloid scars in Korean.
