Gluten proteins in wheat grains are generally considered one of the most important factors in determining dough properties and bread quality. In this study, wheat protein quality characteristics were investigated in 607 varieties collected from seven countries grown in a South Korean wheat breeding field for two years. The average protein content was 12.2±1.86%, and the sodium dodecyl sulfate-sediment volume (SDSS) was 46.9±8.39 mL. HI-LINE had the highest protein content (18.3±0.35%) and SDSS (76.7±1.98 mL), while both NE 84557 and Iksan 374 showed small deviations in protein content and SDSS. Protein content and SDSS values were higher in Ax2*+By8 and By9+Dy10 combinations at Glu-A, Glu-B1, and Glu-D1 loci of high molecular weight gluten subunit (HMW-GS) than in other combinations. However, no difference in Glu-A3 and Glu-B3 loci in LMW-GS was observed. Furthermore, in HMW-GS, the composition of Glu-D1 Dy10 and Dy12 had a greater effect on protein quality than Glu-B1 By8 and By9 when the allele of Glu-A1 had Ax2*. Significant differences were found between Dy10 and Dy12 genes of the HMW-GS Glu-D1 and between protein content and SDSS, but not among others. These results suggest that Glu-D1 is extremely important for improving protein quality in HMW-GSs. As a result of this study, HMW-GS allele selection using functional markers, protein content, and SDSS investigation are expected to enable the development of varieties with high protein quality that are stable amid various environmental changes.

과금 관리를 포함한 대부분의 망관리 기술들은 단일 서비스망을 중심으로 연구 개발되어 왔으며, 국내외적으로 ATM 기반의 이종 서비스망환경에서의 과금 관리는 현재 많은 연구 기관들에 의해 개발 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 광대역 통신망의 복수 서비스를 통합?지원하는 액세스망에서의 실시간 과금 관리 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 과금 관리 시스템은 ATM 크로스커넥팅 기능을 수행하는 액세스 노드상에서 과금 정보를 측정하고 기록하는 에이전트와 워크스테이션 상에서 과금 정보를 수집하고 처리 하는 매니져 구조로 설계?구현되었다. 에이전트의 관리정보는 OSI 시스템 관리 서비스와 CMIP 프로토콜을 사용하는 TMN 표준 Q3 인터페이스를 통해 매니져로 전달된다. 이후 과금정보는 매니져에 의해 과금 레코드로 변환되어 해당 서비스 제공자에게 제공되고 웹을 통해 실시간으로 열람할 수 있다. The billing techniques to support multiple services in an ATM based broadband access network have been rarely developed. In fact, the management techniques including accounting management have only focused on a single service environment such as PSTN thus far. In this paper, we present an accounting management system, called rtFAMS, designed and implemented to provide multiple Value Added Service Providers (VASPs) the charging records for the multiple services in a broadband access network. The architecture is based on OSI system management infrastructure and TMN Q3 interface to acquire accounting information from agents in the ATM cross-connecters as well as to process the billing mechanisms in the manager. This system is designed to actively adopt the rapidly changing service environments and B-ISDN network management techniques. It also provides real-time accounting information to users using Web in addition to supplying the billing records to VASPs.
강화 교동면 주민과 들쥐의 쯔쯔가무시병 및 발진열에 대한 혈청역학 조사

Scrub typhus and murine typhus are common endemic febrile illness in the fall in Korea. Scrub typhus is caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, murine typhus is caused by Rickettsia typhi. Trombiculid mites are known as both the vector and the reservoir host of O tsutsugamushi, the mites which transmit O tsutsuga,nushi have been reported to be Leptotrombidium jxzllidum and L scutellare. The author carried out an epidemiological study of scrub typhus and murine typhus in Kyodong-Myeon, Kanghwa-Gun, Incheon in relation to the residents and the host rodents, such as their distribution, seroepideniiology, and population density of chigger mites. 1. Out of 900 residents, 33(3.7%) showed positive reaction to 0 tsutsuga`nushi, 24(2.7%) to R typhi. 2. In the seropositives to O tsutsugamushi or R typhi, between the sixties and the seventies of the age were dominant. 3. In the seropositives to O tsutsutzmushi serotypically Gilliarn was dominant. 4. Among the total 42 field rodents trapped by the sherman traps, 18 rodents were Apodemus agrarius(42.9%), 13 rodents were Crocidura lasiura(31.O%), 5 rodents were Mus musculus(11.9%), 2 rodents(4.8%) were Crocidura suaveolens, Rattus norvegicus, Tscherskia triton, respectively. 5. Out of 42 field rodents, 25 were parasitized by 4,149 chigger mites, showing 59.5% of the infestation rate and 98.8 of the chigger index. L jxillidum parasitized in A agrarius, C lasiura, M musculus, R norvegicus and T triton, and L scutellare parasitized only C lasiura. 6. Antibodies in the sera of field rodents against O tsutsugamushi and R typhi were investigated by indirect immunofluorescent antibody technique. Positive rate of antibody against 0 tsutsugamushi were 11.9%(5 of 42) and all of the positive is A agrarius. Antibody against R typhi was not detected. These results might provide the basic information for the management of scrub typhus and murine typhus in Kyodong-myeon, where the epidemiological studies on scrub typhus and murine typhus was not carried out enough.

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) optical fiber tip sensor fabricated by a blade-sawing technique using a fiber optic patch cord for high-resolution temperature measurement. The sensor head consists of a short air FP cavity near the tip of a single-mode fiber patch cord tip. The temperature which we can measure is determined through a phase variation of the interference fringes in the reflective spectrum of the sensor. The fiber optic FPI sensor in this work can monitor the environmental temperature very accurately from 40 to 120oC. As a result, the temperature sensitivity is obtained as 38.2 pm/oC.

<P>Anthocyanins, the most prevalent flavonoids in red/purple fruits and vegetables, are known to improve immune responses and reduce chronic disease risks. In this study, the anti-inflammatory activities of an anthocyanin-rich extract from red Chinese cabbage (ArCC) were shown based on its inhibitory effects in cultured endothelial cells and hyperlipidemic apolipoprotein <I>E</I>-deficient mice. ArCC treatment suppressed monocyte adhesion to tumor necrosis factor-α-stimulated endothelial cells. This was validated by ArCC’s ability to downregulate the expression and transcription of endothelial adhesion molecules, determined by immunoblot and luciferase promoter assays, respectively. The regulation of adhesion molecules was accompanied by transcriptional inhibition of nuclear factor-κB, which restricted cytoplasmic localization as shown by immunocytochemistry. Administration of ArCC (150 or 300 mg/kg/day) inhibited aortic inflammation in hyperlipidemic apolipoprotein E-deficient mice, as shown by in vivo imaging. Immunohistochemistry and plasma analysis showed that the aortas from these mice exhibited markedly lower leukocyte infiltration, reduced plaque formation, and lower concentrations of blood inflammatory cytokines than those observed in the control mice. The results suggest that the consumption of anthocyanin-rich red Chinese cabbage is closely correlated with lowering the risk of vascular inflammatory diseases.</P>
