Size Dependence of the Photo- and Cathodo-luminescence of Y2O2S:Eu Phosphors
Sung, Hye-Jin,Ko, Ki-Young,Kim, Hyun Soo,Kweon, Seok-Soon,Park, Jong-Yun,Do, Young-Rak,Huh, Young-Duk Korean Chemical Society 2006 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.27 No.6
$Y_2O_2S$:Eu phosphors were synthesized via solid-state reactions. $Y_2O_2S$:Eu phosphor particles of various sizes were obtained by varying the firing temperature and firing time. The photoluminescence properties of these $Y_2O_2S$:Eu phosphors were examined. In addition, the cathodoluminescence properties of the $Y_2O_2S$:Eu phosphors were examined for applied voltages of 3-8 kV. The relationship between the luminescence intensity and particle size of the$Y_2O_2S$:Eu phosphors was investigated. The photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence of the $Y_2O_2S$:Eu phosphors are affected differently by variations in particle size.
A clinicohistopathological analysis of cutaneous fibrous histiocytomas of the finger
( Sang-woo Park ),( Jin Park ),( Seok-kweon Yun ),( Han-uk Kim ) 대한피부과학회 2017 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.69 No.2
Background: Cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma is a common, benign skin tumor predominantly occurring on the extremities or trunk. However, cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma on the finger is uncommon. Objectives: This study was undertaken to examine the clinicohistopathologic features of cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma of the finger. Methods: This is a retrospective study of 12 cutaneous fibrous histiocytomas located on fingers in a tertiary hospital in Korea. All case slides were retrieved from saved files for diagnostic verification. Results: Cutaneous fibrous histiocytomas of the finger affected 9 to 48 year-olds in a 1.4:1 male to female ratio. Picker’s nodule or wart was the most common clinical diagnosis. In only 2 out of the 12 cases was the pre-biopsy diagnosis of cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma ventured. Fibrocollagenous type was the most common histologic type. Majority of cases were mitotically inactive, exhibiting only 0-1 mitoses per 10 high power field and there was no recurrence. Tumor cells were uniformly CD34 negative. Conclusion: Because cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma can resemble malignancies including dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, a lack of familiarity with the occurrence of cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma of the finger may lead to more aggressive treatment. Dermatologists should include cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma in their differential diagnosis of circumscribed nodules on the fingers to ensure proper management.
Development of transgenic rice lines expressing the human lactoferrin gene
Jin-Hyoung Lee,Hyo-Sung Kim,Kong-Sik Shin,Seok-Cheol Suh,Soon-Jong Kweon,임성렬,Il-Gi Kim 한국식물생명공학회 2010 식물생명공학회지 Vol.37 No.4
Lactoferrin is an 80-kDa iron-binding glycoprotein that is found in high concentrations in human milk. Human lactoferrin (hLF) has several beneficial biological activities including immune system modulation and antimicrobial activity. In the present study, we devolved a method of hLF expression through introducing the hLF gene construct into Oriza sativa cv. Nakdong using the Agrobacterium-mediated transformation system. The expression of the hLF gene under the control of the rice glutelin promoter was detected in the seeds of transgenic rice plants. Transformed rice plants were selected on media containing herbicide(DL-phosphinothricin) and the integration of hLF cDNA was confirmed by Southern blot analysis. The expression of the full length hLF protein from the grains of transgenic rice plants was verified by Western blot analysis. The lactoferrin expression levels in the transformed rice grains determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay accounted for approximately 1.5% of total soluble protein. Taken together, these data indicate that rice grains expressing hLF can be directly incorporated into infant formula and baby food.

Kweon, Hae-Yong,Yeo, Joo-Hong,Kim, Kee-Young,Kim, Yong-Soon,Song, Ha-Seok,Kim, Su-Jin,Woo, Soon-Ok,Han, Sang-Mi,Lee, Kwang-Gill Korean Society of Sericultural Science 2009 International Journal of Industrial Entomology Vol.18 No.2
We investigated sericin extracted from sericinjam, which was inbred at National Academy of Agricultural Science, Suwon, Korea. Sericinjam sericin is composed of 5 fractions: 250 kDa, 120 kDa, 90 kDa, 70 kDa and 40 kDa. Amino acid analysis showed that the major amino acids of sericinjam sericin were Ser, Gly, Asp, Glu, Thr and Ala. Infrared spectra showed that sericinjam sericin has $\beta$-sheet structure. Thermal property of sericin was investigated using DSC and then they showed characteristic degradation peak at around $215{\sim}240^{\circ}C$.
Clinicopathological and dermoscopic features of clear cell acanthoma
( Sang-kyung Lee ),( Eui-sung Jung ),( Il-jae Lee ),( Kyung-hwa Nam ),( Jin-park ),( Seok-kweon Yun ) 대한피부과학회 2020 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.72 No.1
Background: Clear cell acanthoma is a rare clinical entity, suggested to be a benign epidermal tumor, and has also been to thought be a nonspecific reactive dermatosis. There have been no systematic analyses of clear cell acanthoma in Koreans. Objectives: To investigate the clinical, histopathological, and dermoscopic features of clear cell acanthoma. Methods: We evaluated 14 lesions with clear cell acanthoma. Results: A female predominance was observed (male : female ratio 1 : 1.3), and the mean age of patients was 55.8±18.0 years, with the peak incidence observed in patients in their 60s. Notably, 57.1% of the lesions developed on the lower extremities. Seborrheic keratosis was the most common clinical diagnosis. Histopathological examination revealed a well-demarcated area of pale staining keratinocytes with psoriasiform epidermal hyperplasia and slight spongiosis, exocytosis of neutrophils and thinned suprapapillary plates. On dermoscopic examination, clear cell acanthoma showed vascular characteristics including pinpoint red dots, globular red dots and glomeruloid structures with linear or reticular pattern. Conclusion: Clear cell acanthoma commonly presents as a solitary small lesion under 1cm in diameter on the lower extremities of women in their 60s. They showed characteristic findings including PAS positive pale cells histopathologically, and dotted, globular and glomeruloid vessels with linear or reticular pattern on dermoscopy.
