Effects of anisotropic properties on bursting behavior of rectangular cup with a V-notch
Jeong-Tai Kim,Sang-Mok Kim,강범수,구태완 대한기계학회 2016 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.30 No.9
Effects of mechanical anisotropic properties on bursting failure and its pressure of rectangular deep-drawn cup fabricated by using AA3005-H14 thin sheet are investigated to utilize for electrolyte container of lithium-ion secondary batteries. The V-notch shape with a depth of 0.1 mm and an angle of 20.0˚ is defined on the rectangular cup, which has a thickness of 0.20 mm on the major surface and that of 0.30 mm on the minor surface. With the measured mechanical properties by uni-axial tensile tests and the defined V-notch geometry, a series of numerical prediction models considering isotropic, planar and normal anisotropic characteristics, are built-up and the bursting simulations are performed. Thereafter, the bursting fracture behavior is investigated by adopting ductile fracture criterion proposed by Cockcroft and Latham. The results predicted for the planar and the normal anisotropic models show that the bursting fracture pressure is well matched to 0.400 MPa, and the isotropic and the planar anisotropic models present a bursting fracture height of about 4.95 mm and 4.92 mm, respectively. A series of experimental investigations are undertaken to verify the bursting deformation that had been predicted. The bursting pressure and its height during experimental verifications are shown to be in good agreement with each variation of about 5.88% and roughly 0.20% with respect to the numerical results obtained using the planar anisotropic model.

Jeong, Seong-Mok,Kim, Sung-Jin,Yoon, Jin-Young,Lee, Chang Hee,Shim, Sung-Eun,Kim, Jeong Hyon,Goo, Bon Hyuk,Park, Yeon-Cheol,Seo, Byung-Kwan,Nam, Sang-soo,Baek, Yong-Hyeon Korean AcupunctureMoxibustion Medicine Society 2018 Korean Journal of Acupuncture Vol.35 No.4
The objective of this study was to review clinical trials of pharmacopuncture treatment for Frozen Shoulder and to evaluate trends in this field. The literature search was performed using PubMed, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and 5 Korean electronic databases. A combination of "pharmacopuncture," "acupoint injection," "Frozen Shoulder," "adhesive capsulitis," and "periarthritis of shoulder" search terms were used. A total of 9 studies were included in this review. The studies were classified into herbal extract-based (5 types) and animal-based (2 types) pharmacopuncture treatment of Frozen Shoulder. There were 14 different acupoints and Ashi points used in the 9 studies. The total volume of herbal extract-based pharmacopuncture injected was usually between 2 mL and 4 mL, and for animal-based pharmacopuncture it was 1 ml. In most studies of Frozen Shoulder, pain was reduced and function was significantly improved after pharmacopuncture treatment. These results demonstrate that pharmacopuncture alleviates pain and restores function in patients with Frozen Shoulder. Further studies must be conducted on pharmacopuncture for management of Frozen Shoulder.

Ovarian Cancer Prognostic Prediction Model Using RNA Sequencing Data
Jeong, Seokho,Mok, Lydia,Kim, Se Ik,Ahn, TaeJin,Song, Yong-Sang,Park, Taesung Korea Genome Organization 2018 Genomics & informatics Vol.16 No.4
Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in gynecological malignancies. Over 70% of ovarian cancer cases are high-grade serous ovarian cancers and have high death rates due to their resistance to chemotherapy. Despite advances in surgical and pharmaceutical therapies, overall survival rates are not good, and making an accurate prediction of the prognosis is not easy because of the highly heterogeneous nature of ovarian cancer. To improve the patient's prognosis through proper treatment, we present a prognostic prediction model by integrating high-dimensional RNA sequencing data with their clinical data through the following steps: gene filtration, pre-screening, gene marker selection, integrated study of selected gene markers and prediction model building. These steps of the prognostic prediction model can be applied to other types of cancer besides ovarian cancer.

Background: Currently, patients requiring ventilator care for more than 96 h are defined as undergoing prolonged acute mechanical ventilation (PAMV), and the number of such patients is expected to increase. We evaluated the clinical factors related to a poor prognosis by analyzing patients requiring PAMV in the medical intensive care unit (ICU) of a university-affiliated tertiary care hospital in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data collected from March 2008 to February 2013. During the study period, 311 patients (41%) were categorized as on PAMV. We analyzed the prognostic factors on day 28 using clinical data gathered from the medical records on day 4 of mechanical ventilation (MV). Results: The median age of the enrolled patients was 67 [interquartile range (IQR) 59-75] years and 223 (71.7%) were male. The 28-day mortality rate after ICU admission was 34.7%. The most common underlying comorbidity was chronic lung disease (31.5%). The median ICU and hospital stays were 15 (IQR 9-27) and 26 (IQR 15-50) days, respectively. The median Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment scores on the admission day were 17 (IQR 13-21) and 5 (IQR 3-6), respectively. Four variables on day 4 of MV (neuromuscular blocker required [hazard ratio (HR) 2.432, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.337-4.422; p=0.004], vasopressor required [HR 2.312, 95% CI 1.258-4.248; p=0.007], hemodialysis required [HR 1.913, 95% CI 1.018-3.595; p=0.044], and body mass index = 21 [HR 1.827, 95% CI 1.015-3.288; p=0.044]) were independent factors associated with mortality based on a Cox proportional hazards model that excluded patients (n=12) with a do-not-resuscitate order given before day 4. Conclusions: Four clinical factors on day 4 of MV appear to indicate a poor prognosis in patients with PAMV: vasopressor required, neuromuscular blocker required, hemodialysis required, and body mass index = 21.

Background: There have been various results from studies concerning the predictors of recurrence in early-stage nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Therefore, an accurate assessment is needed to guide effective adjuvant therapy. We investigated the predictors of a recurrence in patients with resected, early-stage NSCLC and the risk factors associated with locoregional or distant recurrence. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on patients at the Pusan National University Hospital from January 2006 to December 2011. Patients with pathological stages I or II were included in this study, as based on the seventh edition TNM staging system. Multivariate Cox proportional hazard models were used to identify factors associated with recurrence. Results: Two hundred and forty-nine patients were included. Among them, 180 patients were stage I, and 69 were stage II. Overall, by multivariate analysis, the independent factors associated with a 5-year total recurrence were the presence of visceral pleural invasion (VPI) (p=0.018) and maximal standardized uptake values (SUVs) of tumors on positron emission tomography (PET) >4.5 (p=0.037). The VPI was the only independent risk factor associated with both locoregional and distant recurrence, in the analysis of the patterns of tumor recurrence and their risk factors. In the subgroup analysis of stage I patients, three variables (male, VPI and resection margin positive) were significantly associated with a 5-year recurrence. Conclusion: The independent factors associated with postoperative recurrence in early-stage NSCLC were as follows: PET SUV >4.5 and the presence of VPI. For patients with those factors adjuvant therapy should be recommended as a more efficacious treatment.

A kinetic model for the oxidation of a $UO_2$ pellet to $U_3O_8$ powder has been suggested by considering the mass transfer and the diffusion of oxygen molecules. The kinetic parameters were estimated by a fitting of the experimental data. The activation energies for the chemical reaction and the product layer diffusion were calculated from the kinetic model. The oxidation conversion of a $UO_2$ pellet was simulated at various operating conditions. The suggested model explains the oxidation behavior of $UO_2$ well.
