A Preferential Trade Area in Northeast Asia Prospects and Problems^(+)
Jaleel Ahmad Jungseok Research Institute of International Logis 2005 JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS AND TRADE Vol.3 No.1
This article offers an economic analysis of the main policy issues surrounding the proposed preferential preferential trade area (PTA) between Japan, China, and South Korea. This initial assessment is done within the normative framework of customs union theory. Already, intra-regional trade between the three countries constitutes a high proportion of their total and is, in fact, cited as one of the main reasons for the PTA. As a consequence, trade creation following the PTA may not result in much new trade. However, it is expected that the PTA would lead to a vigorous growth of intra-industry trade, particularly in manufactured goods and components. possibilities of trade diversion are real, but not insurmountable if the resulting preference structure is designed with a view to minimize disruption of trade with the rest-of-the-world.
Monetary Policy in the Western World: Reflections on Some Basic Issues
Jaleel Ahmad 연세대학교 동서문제연구원 2006 Global economic review Vol.35 No.4
This paper is a general assessment of monetary policy in major OECD countriesduring the 1990s. Within a simple policy framework that combines money growth, nominal income, and an open economy IS-LM type Mundell-Fleming model, the paper discusses the major strands in the conduct of monetary policy in developed industrial economies. It throws light on such problems as rules versus discretion, management of exchange rates, the effect of monetary changes on income and prices, and the rupture of monetary policy with other instruments of economic policy that also affect the economy.
A Systematic Review on the Mental Health Status of Patients Infected With Monkeypox Virus
Jaleel Anila,Farid Ghulam,Irfan Haleema,Mahmood Khalid,Baig Saeeda 대한소아청소년 정신의학회 2024 소아청소년정신의학 Vol.35 No.2
Objectives: This study aims to extract and summarize the literature on the mental health status of patients with monkeypox. Methods: This review was carried out according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines using different databases and publishers such as Scopus, Sage, ScienceDirect, PubMed, BMJ, Wiley Online Library, Wolters Kluwer OVID-SP, and Google Scholar. The literature review was based on monkeypox and mental health. The year of publication was 2021–2023, during the monkeypox disease period. Data were extracted from opinions, editorials, empirical studies, and surveys. Results: Based on the literature related to the mental status of patients with monkeypox, the following themes and subthemes were identified: anxiety and depression, self-harm and suicidal tendencies, neuropsychiatric symptoms, mental health, social stigma, sex workers, vaccination, and stress-related diseases. Conclusion: A review of monkeypox virus infection studies reveals that 25%–50% of patients experience anxiety and depression due to isolation, boredom, and loneliness. Factors such as infected people, a lack of competence among healthcare professionals, and shame over physical symptoms exacerbate mental insults. The implications of society include increased self-harm, suicide, low productivity, fear of stigmatization, and transmission of infection.

The interoperability concerns horizontal integration among IoT devices which form vendor- or protocol-specific silos. To answer, this brief presents an architectural design of an autonomic interoperability manager (AIM) that is capable of self-configuration, self-healing, self-optimization, and self-protection. With AIM, IoT devices having diverse protocols, syntax, and semantics can collaborate and interact, and its plugin-based autonomic, service-oriented architecture ensures scalability and extendability. We simulated a healthcare use-case with a range of virtual IoT devices to demonstrate that the AIM dramatically reduces the average response time in a highly dynamic environment, by proactively pruning the network traffic and optimizing the compute resources.
AHMAD, JALEEL 한국국제경제학회 1989 International Economic Journal Vol.3 No.1
This paper attempts to interpret the recent growth of south-south trade in manufactures, with a view to highlight the key factors that propel its growth, and to examine its implications for north-south trade. This is done in the framework of a modified Heckscher-Ohlin model of bilateral trade between three tiers of countries, viz.. the developed countries of the OECD, the Newly Industrializing Countries (NICs), and the Less Developed Countries (LDCs). The paper also provides empirical estimates from trade data for the years 1970-1982 in order to illustrate a key proposition of the model.
