Excretory urography is a type of contrast study used to verify and localize upper urinary tract disease. It is an inexpensive and easy way to visualize of anatomic and functional status of the kidney and has been used as a primary imaging modality for the evaluation of urinary tract abnormalities. We describe urological signs of 7 dogs who examined with excretory urography and ultrasonography. Six cases were referred to veterinary medical teaching hospital. Chungnam national university (VMTH, CNU) to evaluate renal function after the treatment for renal failure and one case was referred showing hematuria. In case 1, 2 and 4, blood test and urinalysis was normal and the results of excretory urography presented that renal function were normal range. In case 3, the results of urinalysis, ultrasonography, and excretory urography except blood test presented abnormal kidney and hydronephrosis was diagnosed. In case 5 and 6, blood test, urinalysis, ultrasonography and excretory urography indicated renal failure. In case 7, blood test, urinalysis and ultrasonography presented partially abnormal signs, however, the results of excretory urography was normal range.

A 10-year-old spayed female dog with history of persistent nasal discharge and halitosis was presented. In oral examination, there were severe dental calculi and gingivitis. The radiographic imaging showed lesions of left nasal cavity and periodontal membrane. In computed tomographic imaging, there are increased density of left nasal cavity, loss of nasal concha and partial defect of nasal septum. Many inflammatory cells were observed in nasal cytology. The result of culture from nasal smear was negative. All these findings result in rhinitis by dental calculi and gingivitis. The dog got improved after scaling, tooth extraction, and medical treatment.

The tribological properties of silicon nitride in unlubricated sliding contact were investigated using a ball on disk wear apparatus at room temperature and normal load. The tribological behaviour can be classifled into two groups as follows : (1) The wear state of silicon nitride ball is divided into 3 parts, the formation of minute irragular surface resulted from plastic flow rupture, the formation of fracture surface of grain boundary and the formation of slippery surface resulted from chemical reaction. (2) The frication from of bearing steel disk is divided into 4 parts, the formation of the surface that the surface layer is shed resulted from friction wear, the formation of the surface that the microscopic friction particles are accululated resulted from corrosive wear and formation of surface that the slippery oxide tunic is created.

Thin film of TiAlN was deposited onto ISO P20 tungsten carbide cutting insert tip substrate specimen using the FVAS (filtered vacuum arc system) at the substrate temperature of 80℃. Cutting and wear tests have been performed to the TiAlN coated and uncoated WC specimen, respectively under the same cutting conditions for the comparison. Cutting forces and tool wear of coated and uncoated carbide cutting tools were investigated by means of cutting length and cutting forces. Also tool wear and tool life were analyzed using the 3ch tool dynamometer amp lifier and oscilloscope. In this study cutting tests for the cutting performance of TiAlN coated WC-Co P20 to the steel alloy of SNCN420 have been curried out. Through the comparisons of cutting forces during the cutting tests and tool wear, we got the conclusions as follows.; ① In usual cutting conditions, main cutting force component showed higher value than the thrust force normal to the cutting direction especially cutting forces in the of early stage on cutting tests. But, after loosing the protective hard thin film on substrate or insert tip, the thrust force normal to the cutting direction showed much higher than main cutting force component. ② Within the range of 0.3㎜ build up edge in P20 insert tip, TiAlN coated tip was evaluated more stable in flank wear and less in crater wear than the uncoated specimen. ③ Through the wear growth curve of the specimen, tool life differences of uncoated and TiAlN coated tip at high speed (V=250[m/min]) was higher than the low speed(V=200[m/min]) case, compared to the average but the tool wear was almost same in both specimen for the case of normal wear occurred.

Oxidative stress has been proposed to be a major cause of aging and many age-related diseases. Peroxynitrite ($ONOO^-$), formed from the reaction of superoxide ($^{\bullet}O_2{^-}$) and nitric oxide (NO), is a cytotoxic species that can oxidize various cellular components, such as proteins, lipids, and DNA. The present study investigated whether dimethyl lithospermate (DML), isolated from Salvia miltiorrhiza, modulates age-related increases of $ONOO^-$, NO, and reactive species (RS) levels and expressions of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). For this study, 20-month-old rats were intraperitoneally injected with 5 or 10 mg/kg/day of DML, and 6-month-old rats were used as young control animals. Our results indicated that DML reduces $ONOO^-$ levels in a dose-dependent manner. The data also revealed that DML has significant inhibitory effects on NO metabolites and RS generation in a dose-dependent manner during aging. Furthermore, the results of Western blot analysis revealed that DML treatment reduces age-associated increases in COX-2 and iNOS expressions. Thus, this study found that DML caused the decrease of renal oxidative stress and COX-2 and iNOS expressions in aged rats. The significance of the present study is the finding of DML in its potential application against the aging process.
생활폐기물 소각재의 재활용을 위한 고정층상(Up draft & Down draft)에서의 광물탄산화 연구

1997년 12월 일본에서 교토의정서가 채택된 이후, 각국의 정상들은 국가 간 온실가스의 발생량을 감소시켜야 하는 공통적인 의식이 형성되었다. 특히나 온실가스 중 이산화탄소의 차지하는 영향력이 가장 크기 때문에 이산화탄소 포집 및 저장 기술(CCUS : Carbon Capture Utilization Storage)이 다양하게 연구되어 왔다. CCUS 기술 중에서도 광물탄산화(MCT : Mineral Carbonation Technology) 기술은 칼슘 및 마그네슘과 같은 미네랄과 이산화탄소의 화학적 반응으로 탄산염 물질을 형성하는 반응으로 CCUS 기술과 비교했을 때 뛰어난 장점은 장기간의 단속 또는 모니터링이 필요하지 않고 가장 안정적으로 이산화탄소를 포집할 수 있는 기술이라는 것이다. 본 실험에서는 광물탄산화 방법 중 고온에서 직접 반응시키는 직접적 광물탄산화(Direct Carbonation) 반응으로 고정층(Fixed Bed)방식에서 실험하였으며 온도, 시료의 양, 반응기 에 투입되는 가스의 주입구에 따른 실험들 몇 가지 변수를 적용하여 반응의 효율성을 비교함과 동시에 탄산화 반응의 방향성을 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 또한 소각재를 활용한 광물탄산화 연구에 앞서 CaO를 사용하여 광물탄산화 반응의 반응식과 메커니즘, 이론적 해석을 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 사사: 이 논문은 환경부의 폐자원에너지화 전문인력 양성사업으로 지원되었습니다.

현재 국내 도시 생활쓰레기 및 산업쓰레기의 처리 시, 매립지 부족과 침출수 등으로 인한 2차 오염문제로 매립처리 방법은 우리나라에서는 적절치 않다. 하지만 쓰레기의 소각처리의 경우, 소각으로 인한 열작감량이 매우 크고 폐에너지 회수의 장점도 있기에 국내 쓰레기의 처리는 소각에 많이 의존하고 있다. 또한 국내 대체에너지의 목표치가 높아지는 상황에서 폐기물의 대체 에너지가 큰 역할을 해 주어야 한다. 폐기물 고형연료를 연소하는 과정 중에는 여러 문제점이 있는데, 설비의 고온 부식의 영향 및 연소로 내 국부적인 가열로 인한 설비의 파손, 연소로 내 불규칙적 유동현상으로 인한 연소 장애 등이 있다. 따라서 앞에서 말한 문제점들을 보안하며 보일러의 안정적인 운전 및 열효율 향상을 위해서는 기본적으로 연소로 내 유동현상을 정확히 예측할 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위해 우리는 상용화 되고 있는 50ton/day 이상 Stoker 보일러 현장 운전조건을 대입, Ansys CFD Fluent.18을 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 진행하였다. 연소로 내 열의 유동해석, 배출가스의 흐름 등을 예측하여 연소장애의 원인을 찾아보고 이에 맞는 대안을 찾기 위한 연구를 하였다.
