Recycling biomass to cellulose aerogel (Cell-A) provides a promising approach to develop adsorbent materials for spilled-oil recovery. In this work, Cell-A was fabricated from Vietnamese water hyacinth via crosslinking methods using PVA as a crosslinker and freeze-drying process. Various cellulose to PVA ratios were investigated to obtain the optimal synthesis condition. The Cell-A was additionally modified by dip-coating in poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) and pyrolyzing to form PDMS-coated cellulose aerogels (Cell-AP) and carbon aerogels (CA), respectively. Results of the oil adsorption tests show that pyrolysis produced aerogels with greater adsorption capacity with an optimal mass ratio of 15 : 1 cellulose to PVA. Furthermore, the pseudo-second-order model was found to be more accurate than the pseudo-first-order model for the study of oil absorption kinetics. As a result, the modified cellulose aerogel is promising for replacing earth-unfriendly polymer-based oil sorbents due to their high oil absorption capacity.
Co-Precipitation Synthesis and Characterization of Strontium Lanthanum Vanadate Nanoparticles

Strontium lanthanum vanadate La<sub>1-x</sub>Sr<sub>x</sub>VO<sub>3</sub> (LSVO) is a promising anode material for electrochemical devices, especially for solid oxide fuel cells, thanks to its irregular electrical conductivity. However, the known synthesis methods are incapable of producing well-dispersed LSVO nanoparticles (NPs) with homogeneous size distribution, which partly impedes the applicability of the material. Thus, a new approach to synthesize LSVO NPs with such characteristics is of paramount importance. In the present work, we successfully prepare LSVO NPs with a high dispersion degree and homogeneous size distribution via a modified co-precipitation pathway, followed by hydrogen reduction at a temperature as low as 700 ℃. The prepared LSVO NPs display uniform sizes in the range of 50 ~ 100 nm and do not contain any secondary phases, according to XRD analysis. The chemical mechanism of reactions that occur to form the LSVO is thoroughly highlighted. The work functions of NPs measured by the UPS analysis are in the 2.13 ~ 3.62 eV range, making the LSVO powders promising for use in thermionic devices. An explanation of the role of Sr substitution in work function values of LSVO is also proposed.

This research examines the affect of destination image factors on revisit intention of domestic tourists at Ba Ria Vung-Tau (BRVT), by questioning directly 510 domestic tourists. The convenient sampling method is used in dividing the crowds into four groups; the four main surveyed areas in BRVT are: Vung Tau, Long Hai-Phuoc Hai, Xuyen Moc and Con Dao. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies were utilized.A focus group of 10 domestic tourists wasset up to review and explore the variousfactors as well as the conceptual model. An in-depth interview with 12 participants was developed to fine-tune measurement items. The questionnaire applied a 5-point Likert scale. Checking the reliability by Cronbach's Alpha, exploratory factor analyzing and linear multiple regression were used with the SPSS program. The results show that there are eight main destination image factors affecting domestic tourists revisit intention to BRVT using linear regression and arranged by decreasing importance: Infrastructure, Variety Seeking, Accessibility, Local food, Atmosphere, Environment, Price Value, Leisure and Entertainment. From that, the research offers some suggestions and policy recommendations for the tourism business and provincial policy-makers to identify the main issues and develop better customer services to increase domestic tourists'revisit intention.

Visible light communication(VLC) is one type of short-range, optical, and wireless communication system utilizing light emitting diode(LED) and laser diode(LD) as optical source. In a VLC system, visible light is used as a transmission medium and used to illuminate. Using VLC has a lot of advantages: it is harmless to human body; it transmits with high power, and it has excellent security, a high data rate, and a license free frequency band. With such a unique blend of communication and illumination in one system, the most common application would be an indoor environment. We aim at reviewing key issues in VLC network such as : FOV(field of view), priority MAC, cooperative MAC, link switching, LED-ID technique, cell site diversity, and link recovery.

Fenobucarb is one of most common insecticides applied to rice crops in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta. Paddy fields are preferred habitats for snakehead fish (Channa striata). Therefore, the probability of exposure risks and growth effects is highly. This paper aimed to examine the effects of using fenobucarb based – Excel Basa 50EC on the brain cholinesterase (ChE) of snakehead fish. Two rice fields, in which a single dose of Excel Basa 50EC was applied to one field, whilst the other acted as a control. Each field was subdivided into three plots by earthen dikes. In each plot, one fish cage (1.2 m x 1.2 m x 1.2 m) was installed that was stocked with 20 snakehead fish. The Excel Basa 50EC was applied once at the indication dose. The results highlighted that the concentration of fenobucarb in water at 1 hr after application was 116.72 ppb ± 12.64, which decreased to 23.96 ± 6.61 ppb after d and then to below detection limits (0.02 ppb). For fish living in this field, no mortality was seen, but ChE was significantly inhibited for 31 % on the first day and recovery following 7 days of exposure. Residues of fenobucarb in soil and fish should also be investigated furthermore.
Hydrothermal synthesis of ZSM-5 zeolite using siliceous mudstone

ZSM-5 zeolite was successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction method using siliceous mudstone. The major chemical composition of siliceous mudstone is 85.85 wt.% of SiO2 and 6.99 wt.% of Al2O3, and the crystalline phases are opal-CT,quartz, smectite and muscovite. The experimental conditions were varied with the weight ratio between sodium silicate solution (SS) and siliceous mudstone (SM) from 0.8 to 1.6, the reaction temperature from 130 to 200 oC and reaction time from 12 to 30 hours. Within these experimental conditions, the most suitable combination to synthesize ZSM-5 zeolite was SS/SM = 1.2, reaction temperature = 170 oC and reaction time = 24 hours. The particle shape was a faceted-sphere and the median particle size was 5.2 μm. The BET surface area was 324 m2·g−1 after calcination at 500 oC and this value was sustained up to 700 oC.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We demonstrated that activation of protein kinase Cδ (PKCδ) and inactivation of the glutathione peroxidase-1 (GPx-1)-dependent systems are critical for methamphetamine (MA)-induced recognition memory impairment. We also demonstrated that exposure to far-infrared rays (FIR) causes induction of the glutathione (GSH)-dependent system, including induction of the GPx-1 gene. Here, we investigated whether exposure to FIR rays affects MA-induced recognition memory impairment and whether it modulates PKC, cholinergic receptors, and the GSH-dependent system. Because the PKC activator bryostatin-1 mainly induces PKCα, PKCε, and PKCδ, we assessed expression of these proteins after MA treatment. MA treatment selectively increased PKCδ expression and its phosphorylation. Exposure to FIR rays significantly attenuated MA-induced increases in PKCδ phosphorylation. Importantly, bryostatin-1 potentiated MA-induced phosphorylation of PKCδ. MA treatment significantly decreased M1, M3, and M4 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) and β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor expression. Of these, the decrease was most pronounced in M1 mAChR. Exposure to FIR significantly attenuated MA-induced decreases in the M1 mAChR and phospho-ERK<SUB>1/2</SUB>, while it facilitated Nrf2-dependent GSH induction. Dicyclomine, an M1 mAChR antagonist, and <SMALL>L</SMALL>-buthionine-(S, R)-sulfoximine (BSO), an inhibitor of GSH synthesis, counteracted against the protective potentials mediated by FIR. More importantly, the memory-enhancing potential of FIR rays was significantly counteracted by bryostatin-1, dicyclomine, and BSO. Our results suggest that exposure to FIR rays attenuates MA-induced impairment in recognition memory via up-regulation of M1 mAChR, Nrf2-dependent GSH induction, and ERK<SUB>1/2</SUB> phosphorylation by inhibiting PKCδ phosphorylation by bryostatin-1.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> FIR attenuated MA-induced memory dysfunction via inhibition of PKCδ phosphorylation. </LI> <LI> FIR potentiated MA-induced compensative induction in Nrf2 and GCLs levels. </LI> <LI> Inhibition of PKCδ phosphorylation activated M1 mAChR/Nrf-2/ERK<SUB>1/2</SUB> signaling. </LI> <LI> Protective activity of FIR was counteracted by PKC activation, dicyclomine, and BSO. </LI> </UL> </P>
