Purpose: Online meeting is chosen instead of face-to-face conferences as a solution that ensures both effectiveness and legality during times of strong epidemic outbreaks. In the current period, managers can have different types of meeting options for information distribution. This study has examined the effect of past behavior on the managers’ intention of organizing online meetings. Research design, data and methodology: Data were collected from a survey with 475 managers and put into SmartPLS 4.0 for analysis. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test relationships in the research model. Results: The findings indicated that past behavior plays the most critical role in explaining the organizing online meeting intention of managers, followed by attitude and subjective norms. Meanwhile, the perceived behavioral control factor has absolutely no effect on intention in the context of this study. Notably, attitude and subjective norms also remarkably mediated the impact of past behavior on managers’ intention. Conclusions: This study has added to the understanding of the meeting organization behavior of managers. Even if the epidemic is under control, the administrators should still organize some meetings in the form of online because it will affect the social perceptions of future behavior and behavioral intention.
Factors Affecting Night-Time Economic Development: Research in Hanoi, Vietnam
Ngoc Son NGUYEN(Ngoc Son NGUYEN ),Vu Hiep HOANG(Vu Hiep HOANG ),Quoc Dung NGO(Quoc Dung NGO ),Van Hoa HOANG(Van Hoa HOANG ) 한국유통과학회 2023 Asian Journal of Business Environment (AJBE) Vol.13 No.2
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore the factors which influence the night-time economic development in Hanoi, Vietnam. The results can help policymakers achieve a scientific basis to plan the development of night-time economy in Hanoi. Research design, data and methodology: The research model is developed from literature review with 7 independent variables, including natural conditions and resources, infrastructure, safety, environmental issues, promotion and international integration, development of sharing economy, and institution and policy. This model is then adjusted by exploratory factors analysis to have 4 new variables: Institution and environment, Infrastructure and safety, Promotion and sharing, and Nature and resources. The model is regressed based on the data of 463 observations of night-time economy in Hanoi, Vietnam. Results: Consistent with the current literature addressing night-time economy, the results show positive impacts of all of the independent variables studied. Conclusions: It is recommended for the local authorities to strengthen advertising and promoting investment for NTE development in Hanoi city and also enhance the role of state management in NTE activities by raising awareness of the state management apparatus towards a more open-minded multi-dimensional view of the NTE, developing the NTE to overcome the barrier of thinking “if it cannot be managed, it is forbidden” in state management agencies, and defining responsibilities and authority among state management agencies in the management of NTE activities and strengthening decentralization and decentralization of powers for localities in the management and development of NTE.
Endocrine Disrupting Activities of Parabens: An Overview of Current Databases on Their Estrogenicity
Vu Hoang Dang,정의배 사단법인 한국동물생명공학회 2008 한국동물생명공학회지 Vol.23 No.4
Recently, parabens have been believed to act as xenoestrogens, an identified class of endocrine disruptors (EDs). These environmental compounds are the most well-known as preservatives in many commercial products, including food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. It has been demonstrated that the human health risks of parabens result from a long-term exposure to skin in which this chemical group is rapidly absorbed through the skin. On the other hand, parabens are also completely absorbed from gastrointestinal tract. It has reported that these substances possess several biological effects in which inhibitory property involved in membrane transports and mitochondrial functions is considered to be important for their action. Testing of parabens has revealed that estrogen-like activities of these chemicals are much less potent than natural estrogen, 17β estradiol (E2). Additionally, the estrogenicity of individual paraben- compounds is distinct depending upon their biochemical structure. Recent findings of paraben-estrogenic activities have shown that these compounds may affect breast cancer incidence in women, suggesting adverse ecological outcomes of this environmental group on human and animal health. Although the biological and toxicological effects of parabens have been demonstrated in many previous studies, possible mechanism(s) of their action are required to be explored in order to bring the better understanding in the detrimental impacts of parabens in human and wildlife. There have several different types of parabens which are the most widely used as preservatives. These include methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and p-hydroxybenzoic acid, a major metabolite of parabens. In this review, we summarize current database based on in vitro and in vivo assays for estrogenic activities and health risk assessment of paraben- EDs which have been published previously.
Reduction of DC-Link Capacitance in Single-Phase Non-Isolated Onboard Battery Chargers
Hoang Vu Nguyen,이상민,이동춘 전력전자학회 2019 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.19 No.2
This paper proposes a single-phase non-isolated onboard battery charger (OBC) for electric vehicles (EVs) that only uses small film capacitors at the DC-link of the AC-DC converter. In the proposed charger, an isolated DC-DC converter for low-voltage batteries is used as an active power decoupling (APD) circuit to absorb the ripple power when a high-voltage (HV) battery is charged. As a result, the DC-link capacitance in the AC-DC converter of the HV charging circuit can be significantly reduced without requiring any additional devices. In addition, some of the components of the proposed circuit are shared in common for the different operating modes among the AC-DC converter, LV charging circuit and active power filter. Therefore, the cost and volume of the onboard battery charger can be reduced. The effectiveness of the proposed topology has been verified by the simulation and experimental results.

The bio-oil produced from the fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass contains a high amount of oxygenates, causing variation in the properties of bio-oil, such as instability, high acidity, and low heating value, reducing the quality of the bio-oil. Consequently, an upgrading process should be recommended ensuring that these bio-oils are widely used as fuel sources. Catalytic fast pyrolysis has attracted a great deal of attention as a promising method for producing upgraded bio-oil from biomass feedstock. In this study, the fast pyrolysis of tulip tree was performed in a bubbling fluidized-bed reactor under different reaction temperatures, with and without catalysts, to investigate the effects of pyrolysis temperature and catalysts on product yield and bio-oil quality. The system used silica sand, ferric oxides (Fe₂O₃ and Fe₃O₄), and H-ZSM-5 as the fluidized-bed material and nitrogen as the fluidizing medium. The liquid yield reached the highest value of 49.96 wt% at 450 ℃, using Fe₂O₃ catalyst, compared to 48.45 wt% for H-ZSM-5, 47.57 wt% for Fe₃O₄ and 49.03 wt% with sand. Catalysts rejected oxygen mostly as water and produced a lower amount of CO and CO₂, but a higher amount of H₂ and hydrocarbon gases. The catalytic fast pyrolysis showed a high ratio of H₂/CO than sand as a bed material.

Mental state classification is an important step for realizing a control system based on electroencephalography (EEG) signals which could benefit a lot of paralyzed people including the locked-in or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Considering that EEG signals are nonstationary and often contaminated by various types of artifacts, classifying thoughts into correct mental states is not a trivial problem. In this work, our contribution is that we present and realize a novel model which integrates different techniques: Independent component analysis (ICA), relative wavelet energy, and support vector machine (SVM) for the same task. We applied our model to classify thoughts in two types of experiment whether with two or three mental states. The experimental results show that the presented model outperforms other models using Artificial Neural Network, K-Nearest Neighbors, etc.
