Detecting Early Pancreatic Cancer: Current Problems and Future Prospects
Hiroyuki Matsubayashi,Hirotoshi Ishiwatari,Keiko Sasaki,Katsuhiko Uesaka,Hiroyuki Ono 거트앤리버 소화기연관학회협의회 2020 Gut and Liver Vol.14 No.1
The number of patients with pancreatic cancer (PC) is currently increasing in both Korea and Japan. The 5-year survival rate of patients with PC 13.0%; however, resection with minimal invasion (tumor size: ≤10 mm) increases the 5-year survival rate to 80%. For this reason, early detection is essential, but most patients with early-stage PC are asymptomatic. Early detection of PC has been reported to require screening of high-risk individuals (HRIs), such as those with a family history of PC, inherited cancer syndromes, intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm, or chronic pancreatitis. Studies on screening of these HRIs have confirmed a significantly better prognosis among patients with PC who were screened than for patients with PC who were not screened. However, to date in Japan, most patients with early-stage PC diagnosed in routine clinics were not diagnosed during annual health checks or by surveillance; rather, PC was detected in these patients by incidental findings during examinations for other diseases. We need to increase the precision of the PC screening and diagnostic processes by introducing new technologies, and we need to pay greater attention to incidental clinical findings.
Novel control and peripheral technologies proposed for future hard disk drives
Hiroyuki Ono 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
New technologies of Discrete Track Recording (DTR), Bit Patterned Media (BPM) and Thermally Assisted Magnetic Recording (TAMR) have been proposed for next generation hard disk drives. To realize these technologies, there are other big challenges required for head positioning in order to follow eccentricity of recording tracks to the center of spindle motor, for read write clock synthesis synchronous to the eccentricity and platter warpage, and for high frequency signal transfer in GHz band. This paper proposes novel solutions of an actuator control method with a voltage driver and an over sampled local feedback, an eccentricity analysis algorithm for discrete tracks without referring to embedded servo patterns, a phase locked loop clock synthesizer with a variable loop counter, and a super wide band flexible cable with new materials. The performances are evaluated and demonstrated on a head-media test system and this paper reports the result and proposes the applications for future hard disk drive products.

Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by chronic inflammation of the synovium, progressive erosion of the articular cartilage, and joint destruction. RA also causes secondary osteoporosis and muscle wasting. We investigated the effects of ibandronate (IBN), a bisphosphonate; eldecalcitol (ELD), an active vitamin D3 derivative; and combination treatment with both agents on secondary osteoporosis and muscle wasting using adjuvant-induced arthritis rats. Methods: Arthritis was induced in 8-week-old male Lewis rats. Rats were randomized into 4 treatment groups and an untreated normal control group: IBN (subcutaneously, once every 2 weeks,10 mg/kg), ELD (orally, once daily, 30 ng/kg/day), IBN þ ELD, vehicle, and control. Paw thickness measurements were performed for evaluation of arthritis. The femur was scanned using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Cross-sectional areas of left tibialis and anterior muscle fibers and the expression of MuRF1, atrogin-1, MyoD, and myogenin in the gastrocnemius muscle were measured to evaluate muscle wasting. Results: IBN and/or ELD increased bone mineral density (BMD) in the femur. In addition, there was an additiveeffect of combination treatment compared with single treatments for BMD. However, IBNand/or ELD did not inhibit muscle wasting in adjuvant-induced arthritis rats. Conclusions: Combination treatment with IBN and ELD may be effective for secondary osteoporosis associated with RA. Other treatments are necessary for muscle wasting associated with RA. Studies in humans are needed to confirm these findings.
Open Lead Detection Based on Logical Change Caused by AC Voltage Signal Stimulus
Akira Ono,Masahiro Ichimiya,Hiroyuki Yotsuyanagi,Masao Takagi,Masaki Hashizume 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7
In this paper, we propose a new test method for detecting an open lead which occurs when an IC is mounted on a printed circuit board. In the method, an open lead is detected by observing output logical change of an open lead detector. Since the test method is a vectorless test one, test generation and test input application are not needed. Testability of the test method is examined by some experiments. The results show that open leads of SSIs and LSIs will be detected by the method.
Detached plasma control by H- / D- negative ion in divertor simulator
akira Tonegawa,Hiroyuki YAZAWA,Kazutaka KAWAMURA,Masataka ONO,Syusaku MAETA 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.III
We have developed a new way to stably maintain a detached hydrogen or deuterium plasma based on feedback control of the relative negative-ion (H.or D.) density in the linear divertor plasma simulator, TPD-SheetIV. Measurements of the relative negative ion density, nH.or nD., heat load to the target plate, Q, and the secondary gas-flow rate, Gdiv, were carried out as a function of neutral pressure in the plasma. The detached plasma is steadily maintained in the region of the target plate by rapidly varying Gdiv so as to maximize the value of the n.Hor n.Dand to keep the gas pressure constant. The new system has achieved the goal of reducing both Q and the amount of Gdiv in a detached plasma without radiative and three-body recombination processes.
Natural History of Early Gastric Cancer: a Case Report and Literature Review

Early detection and treatment decrease the mortality rate associated with gastric cancer (GC). However, the natural history of GC remains unclear. An 85-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for evaluation of a gastric tumor. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy identified a 6 mm, flat-elevated lesion at the lesser curvature of the antrum. A biopsy specimen showed a well-differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma. The depth of the lesion was estimated to be intramucosal. Although the lesion met the indications for endoscopic resection, periodic endoscopic follow-up was performed due to the patient's advanced age and comorbidities. The mucosal GC invaded into the submucosa 3 years later, and finally progressed to advanced cancer 5 years after the initial examination. The patient died of tumor hemorrhage 6.4 years after the initial examination. In this case, mucosal GC progressed to advanced GC, eventually leading to the patient's death from GC. Early and appropriate treatment is required to prevent GC-related death.
Observation of disossiative recombination in the hydrogen sheet plasma
akira Tonegawa,Hiroie MATSUMOTO,Hiroyuki YAZAWA,Kazutaka KAWAMURA,Masataka ONO,Takehisa SHIBUYA 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.III
The experimental observation of dissociative recombination in Molecular Assisted Recombination (MAR) for hydrogen detached plasma has been studied in the linear divertor plasma simulator, TPD-SheetIV. Measurements of the relative concentrations of atomic and molecular ions (nH+, n+ H2, and n+ H3), electron density (ne), electron temperature (Te), and heat load to the target plate (Q) were carried out in hydrogen detached plasma with hydrogen gas puff at varying discharge current. An “omegatron” mass analyzer, situated behind a small hole of the endplate, is used for analyzing ion species. It is shown from these results that the dominant molecular process is a dissociative recombination process via H+ 2 , H+ 3 in the plasma over the range of low plasma density (<5 × 1018 m.3) and low hydrogen pressure (<4 mTorr). In contrast, molecular assisted dissociation (MAD) always dominates over the MAR in the high density plasma (>5 × 1018 m.3).
