      • “DID YOU KNOW THAT…” – FACILITATING CULTURAL-CENTRED CONVERSATIONS AND EMBRACING SOCIETAL ISSUES ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO DRAW CONSUMERS BACK IN STORE

Alessia Grassi 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07

This paper focuses on the importance of rethinking the functionality of the fashion retail store and suggests transforming the retail store into a space to educate consumers regarding important societal and cultural issues. Consumption trends and changes in consumer habits reveal that people are continuously looking for brand offers beyond services and products. Consumers are shifting the traditional consumer brands dynamics and societal sustainable brands are gaining momentum where consumers are seeking strong and deep relationships with such brands while discarding others. Despite brands' increased investment in e-commerce platforms and digital technologies, the retail store is still a pivotal space for brands to build and maintain a strong relationship with their customers. However, the traditional functionality of the retail store needs to be reconsidered.

Gucci Inclusivity is the New Exclusivity

Alessia Grassi,Stephen Wigley 한국복식학회 2018 International journal of costume and fashion Vol.18 No.1

High-street brands are aiming to generate inclusivity through the co-creation of their products; whereas luxury fashion brands have to seek inclusivity without endangering luxury product features, such as craftsmanship. Moreover, luxury brands are still experiencing difficulty in creating a relationship with the consumer fearing to lose control and the allure of exclusivity. However, it is possible to identify a successful example of attempted inclusivity among luxury fashion brands: Gucci S.p.A. This paper aims to analyse Gucci’s attempt to generate inclusivity through different activities that are not compromising the perceived exclusivity of the product, but on the contrary, they are an opportunity of brand value generation. Data were collected through one semi-structured interview with the Gucci’s CMO, two semi-structured interviews with 2nd-year university students of fashion marketing, and one focus group with four final- year university students of fashion marketing. All data were analysed by applying thematic analysis, and the themes of engagement, and brand experience. Findings suggest that Gucci’s new exclusive inclusivity strategy incorporates a series of educational activities for selected groups of Higher Education students that provide an authentic insight into the brand. The evidence says that the strategy is appealing to Millennials and may be successful on the market.

      • “CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?” – ON FASHION BRANDS GREEN COMMUNICATIONS AND GEN Z’S PERCEPTION OF BRAND CREDIBILITY

Emily Rathbone,Alessia Grassi 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07

Environmental concern has escalated as the climate crisis is an increasingly prevalent issue for the global society. Further catalysed by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, consumer behaviours are shifting, materialising in greener purchasing behaviour and heightened expectations of environmental brand practices. This phenomenon is affecting consumer attitudes and behaviour towards fashion brands. As such, credible environmental marketing strategies are increasingly central to brand success, influencing brand credibility perception.

      • Monitoring of Corrugation Growth on Tracks with Cologne Egg Fastening System

        Hengyu Wang,Stuart Grassie,Yongquan Deng,Heji Zhang,Wenjian Wang,Zefeng Wen,Xuesong Jin 한국도시철도학회 2014 IJAR Vol.2 No.2

Corrugation is a serious problem in railway industry. It may be more commonly seen in metro networks for that metro lines usually have more and sharper curves than the main lines. Research has shown that fastening system is an influence factor on corrugation. Server corrugation was found on tracks with Cologne egg fastening system (Cologne egg for short) shortly after the operation of a metro line. To understand the effects of Cologne eggs on the development of corrugation, curved and tangent lines with Cologne eggs were selected for corrugation growth monitoring. In order to compare the effects of different fastening systems on corrugation, monitoring was also conducted on tracks with the same line condition but using ordinary short sleeper fastening system. Monitoring of rail roughness was done during the whole period between two rail grinding operations using a Corrugation Analysis Trolley (CAT). The characteristics of corrugation growth, such as the speed of growth, the wavelength of corrugation, the distribution of corrugation, etc. were analyzed on different track configurations. Corrugation showed a rapid growth in the first a few weeks after grinding and slowed down after that. Monitoring results show that fasting system is a strong influence factor of corrugation growth. The effect of grinding was discussed. Comparison of corrugation growth of different grinding methods shows that proper grinding method would not only reduce the speed of corrugation growth, but also the final rail roughness level.

WhitenoneCoat Hypertension: the Neglected Subgroup in Hypertension

        Cesare Cuspidi,Marijana Tadic,Giuseppe Mancia,Guido Grassi 대한심장학회 2018 Korean Circulation Journal Vol.48 No.7

The clinical prognostic importance of white coat hypertension (WCH), that is, the clinical condition characterized by an increase of office but a normal ambulatory or home blood pressure (BP) is since a long time matter of considerable debate. WCH accounts for a consistent portion of hypertensive patients (up to 30–40%), particularly when hypertension is mild or age is more advanced. Although scanty and inconsistent information is available on the response of office and out-office BP to antihypertensive treatment and the cardiovascular (CV) protection provided by treatment, an increasing body of evidence focusing on the association of WCH with CV risk factors, subclinical cardiac and extra-cardiac organ damage and, more importantly, with CV events indicates that the risk entailed by this condition is intermediate between true normotension and sustained hypertension. This review will address a number of issues concerning WCH with particular attention to prevalence and clinical correlates, relation with subclinical target organ damage and CV morbidity/mortality, therapeutic perspectives. Several topics covered in this review are based on data acquired over the past 20 years by the Pressioni Arteriose Monitorate E Loro Associazioni (PAMELA) study, a longitudinal survey performed by our group on the general population living in the surroundings of Milan area in the north part of Italy.

Personalized Psychiatry and Depression: The Role of Sociodemographic and Clinical Variables

        Giampaolo Perna,Alessandra Alciati,Silvia Daccò,Massimiliano Grassi,Daniela Caldirola 대한신경정신의학회 2020 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.17 No.3

Despite several pharmacological options, the clinical outcomes of major depressive disorder (MDD) are often unsatisfactory. Personalized psychiatry attempts to tailor therapeutic interventions according to each patient’s unique profile and characteristics. This approach can be a crucial strategy in improving pharmacological outcomes in MDD and overcoming trial-and-error treatment choices. In this narrative review, we evaluate whether sociodemographic (i.e., gender, age, race/ethnicity, and socioeconomic status) and clinical [i.e., body mass index (BMI), severity of depressive symptoms, and symptom profiles] variables that are easily assessable in clinical practice may help clinicians to optimize the selection of antidepressant treatment for each patient with MDD at the early stages of the disorder. We found that several variables were associated with poorer outcomes for all antidepressants. However, only preliminary associations were found between some clinical variables (i.e., BMI, anhedonia, and MDD with melancholic/atypical features) and possible benefits with some specific antidepressants. Finally, in clinical practice, the assessment of sociodemographic and clinical variables considered in our review can be valuable for early identification of depressed individuals at high risk for poor responses to antidepressants, but there are not enough data on which to ground any reliable selection of specific antidepressant class or compounds. Recent advances in computational resources, such as machine learning techniques, which are able to integrate multiple potential predictors, such as individual/ clinical variables, biomarkers, and genetic factors, may offer future reliable tools to guide personalized antidepressant choice for each patient with MDD.

History of Migraine and Volume of Brain Infarcts: The Italian Project on Stroke at Young Age (IPSYS)

        Valeria De Giuli,Michele Besana,Mario Grassi,Marialuisa Zedde,Andrea Zini,Corrado Lodigiani,Simona Marcheselli,Anna Cavallini,Giuseppe Micieli,Maurizia Rasura,Maria Luisa DeLodovici,Giampaolo Tomeller 대한뇌졸중학회 2019 Journal of stroke Vol.21 No.3

Background and Purpose Migraine has been shown to increase cerebral excitability, promote rapid infarct expansion into tissue with perfusion deficits, and result in larger infarcts in animal models of focal cerebral ischemia. Whether these effects occur in humans has never been properly investigated. Methods In a series of consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke, enrolled in the setting of the Italian Project on Stroke at Young Age, we assessed acute as well as chronic infarct volumes by volumetric magnetic resonance imaging, and compared these among different subgroups identified by migraine status. Results A cohort of 591 patients (male, 53.8%; mean age, 37.5±6.4 years) qualified for the analysis. Migraineurs had larger acute infarcts than non-migraineurs (median, 5.9 cm3 [interquartile range (IQR), 1.4 to 15.5] vs. 2.6 cm3 [IQR, 0.8 to 10.1], P<0.001), and the largest volumes were observed in patients with migraine with aura (median, 9.0 cm3 [IQR, 3.4 to 16.6]). In a linear regression model, migraine was an independent predictor of increased log (acute infarct volumes) (median ratio [MR], 1.64; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.22 to 2.20), an effect that was more prominent for migraine with aura (MR, 2.92; 95% CI, 1.88 to 4.54). Conclusions These findings reinforce the experimental observation of larger acute cerebral infarcts in migraineurs, extend animal data to human disease, and support the hypothesis of increased vulnerability to ischemic brain injury in people suffering migraine.
