Piezoelectric Pressure Sensing Device Using Top-Gate Effect of Dual-Gate a-IGZO TFT

        Geng, Di,Han, Songyi,Seo, Heejae,Mativenga, Mallory,Jang, Jin IEEE 2017 IEEE SENSORS JOURNAL Vol.17 No.3

We propose a pressure sensor composed of single-gate and dual-gate amorphous-indium-gallium-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs) that are integrated with a P(VDF-TrFE)/PZT composite piezo-capacitor. The TFTs are connected in an inverter configuration, where the piezo-capacitor is connected to the floating top-gate of the dual-gate TFT (driving TFT). When the pressure is applied by finger pressing, the potential of the top-gate changes, and thus, the threshold voltage of the driving TFT shifts, leading to the generation of an output signal that is typically in the range of 200-300 mV.

Structural and Maturational Covariance in Early Childhood Brain Development

        Geng, X.,Li, G.,Lu, Z.,Gao, W.,Wang, L.,Shen, D.,Zhu, H.,Gilmore, J. H. Oxford University Press 2017 Cerebral Cortex Vol. No.

Brain structural covariance networks (SCNs) composed of regions with correlated variation are altered in neuropsychiatric disease and change with age. Little is known about the development of SCNs in early childhood, a period of rapid cortical growth. We investigated the development of structural and maturational covariance networks, including default, dorsal attention, primary visual and sensorimotor networks in a longitudinal population of 118 children after birth to 2 years old and compared them with intrinsic functional connectivity networks. We found that structural covariance of all networks exhibit strong correlations mostly limited to their seed regions. By Age 2, default and dorsal attention structural networks are much less distributed compared with their functional maps. The maturational covariance maps, however, revealed significant couplings in rates of change between distributed regions, which partially recapitulate their functional networks. The structural and maturational covariance of the primary visual and sensorimotor networks shows similar patterns to the corresponding functional networks. Results indicate that functional networks are in place prior to structural networks, that correlated structural patterns in adultmay arise in part fromcoordinated corticalmaturation, and that regional co-activation in functional networks may guide and refine the maturation of SCNs over childhood development.

Voltage Distortion Suppression for Off-grid Inverters with an Improved Load Current Feedforward Control

Geng, Yiwen,Zhang, Xue,Li, Xiaoqiang,Wang, Kai,Yuan, Xibo The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.3

The output voltage of an off-grid inverter is influenced by load current, and the voltage harmonics especially the 5th and 7th are increased with nonlinear loads. In this paper, to attenuate the output voltage harmonics of off-grid inverters with nonlinear loads nearby, a load current feedforward is proposed. It is introduced to a voltage control loop based on the Positive and Negative Sequence Harmonic Regulator (PNSHR) compensation to modify the output impedance at selective frequencies. The parameters of the PNSHR are revised with the output impedance of the off-grid inverter, which minimizes the output impedance of the off-grid inverter. Experimental results verify the proposed method, showing that the output voltage harmonics caused by nonlinear loads can be effectively suppressed.

Research on a Multi-Objective Control Strategy for Current-source PWM Rectifiers under Unbalanced and Harmonic Grid Voltage Conditions

Geng, Yi-Wen,Liu, Hai-Wei,Deng, Ren-Xiong,Tian, Fang-Fang,Bai, Hao-Feng,Wang, Kai The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.1

Unbalanced and distorted grid voltages cause the grid side current of a current source PWM rectifier to be heavily distorted. They can also cause the DC-link current to fluctuate with a huge amplitude. In order to enhance the performance of a current-source PWM rectifier under unbalanced and harmonic grid voltage conditions, a mathematical model of a current-source PWM rectifier is established and a flexible multi-objective control strategy is proposed to control the DC-link current and grid-current. The fundamental positive/negative sequence, $5^{th}$ and $7^{th}$ order harmonic components of the grid voltage are first separated with the proposed control strategy. The grid current reference are optimized based on three objectives: 1) sinusoidal and symmetrical grid current, 2) sinusoidal grid current and elimination of the DC-current $2^{nd}$ order fluctuations, and 3) elimination of the DC-current $2^{nd}$ and $6^{th}$ order fluctuations. To avoid separation of the grid current components, a multi-frequency proportional-resonant controller is applied to control the fundamental positive/negative sequence, $5^{th}$ and $7^{th}$ order harmonic current. Finally, experimental results verify the effectiveness of proposed control strategy.

Fatigue crack propagation behavior at a notch for needled C/SiC composite under tension-tension loading

        Geng Hou,De-Guang Shang,Lin-Xuan Zuo,Lin-Feng Qu,Ming Xia,Yi-Er Guo,Xiang Yin,Shao-Dong Wu 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.1

Fatigue test of a needled C/SiC composite with a notch under tension-tension cyclic loading was completed, and the main fatigue crack propagation curve of the needled composite was obtained by the in situ observation of the fatigue process. By analyzing the influence of the failure number and distribution on the tensile loading subjected by 0° fiber bundles, the relationship between the main fatigue crack propagation and the distribution of 0° fiber bundles in the needled composite was established. By observing the fracture microstructure (especially the distribution of 0° fiber bundles) of the needled composite through scanning electron microscopy, the reasons for the varying fatigue resistance of different notched specimens were also explained. In addition, acoustic emission (AE) was also used to analyze the AE energy characteristics during the fatigue crack propagation process of the needled composite.

An Improved Active Damping Method with Capacitor Current Feedback

        Geng, Yi-Wen,Qi, Ya-Wen,Liu, Hai-Wei,Guo, Fei,Zheng, Peng-Fei,Li, Yong-Gang,Dong, Wen-Ming The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.2

Proportional capacitor current feedback active damping (CCFAD) has a limited valid damping region in the discrete time domain as (0, $f_s/6$. However, the resonance frequency ($f_r$) of an LCL-type filter is usually designed to be less than half the sampling frequency ($f_s$) with the symmetry regular sampling method. Therefore, ($f_s/6$, $f_s/2$) becomes an invalid damping region. This paper proposes an improved CCFAD method to extend the valid damping region from (0, $f_s/6$ to (0, $f_s/2$), which covers all of the possible resonance frequencies in the design procedure. The full-valid damping region is obtained and the stability margin of the system is analyzed in the discrete time domain with the Nyquist criterion. Results show that the system can operate stably with the proposed CCFAD method when the resonance frequency is in the region (0, $f_s/2$). The performances at the steady and dynamic state are enhanced by the selected feedback coefficient H and controller gain $K_p$. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed CCFAD method are verified by simulation and experimental results.

A New Method for Elimination of Zero-Sequence Voltage in Dual Three-Level Inverter Fed Open-End Winding Induction Motors

        Geng, Yi-Wen,Wei, Chen-Xi,Chen, Rui-Cheng,Wang, Liang,Xu, Jia-Bin,Hao, Shuang-Cheng The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.1

Due to the excessive zero-sequence voltage in dual three-level inverter fed open-end winding induction motor systems, zero-sequence circumfluence which is harmful to switching devices and insulation is then formed when operating in a single DC voltage source supplying mode. Traditionally, it is the mean value instead of instantaneous value of the zero-sequence voltage that is eliminated, through adjusting the durations of the operating vectors. A new strategy is proposed for zero-sequence voltage elimination, which utilizes unified voltage modulation and a decoupled SVPWM strategy to achieve two same-sized equivalent vectors for an angle of $120^{\circ}$, generated by two inverters independently. Both simulation and experimental results have verified its efficiency in the instantaneous value elimination of zero-sequence voltage.
