Multi-Class SVM+MTL for the Prediction of Corporate Credit Rating with Structured Data
Ren, Gang,Hong, Taeho,Park, YoungKi The Korea Society of Management Information System 2015 Asia Pacific Journal of Information Systems Vol.25 No.3
Many studies have focused on the prediction of corporate credit rating using various data mining techniques. One of the most frequently used algorithms is support vector machines (SVM), and recently, novel techniques such as SVM+ and SVM+MTL have emerged. This paper intends to show the applicability of such new techniques to multi-classification and corporate credit rating and compare them with conventional SVM regarding prediction performance. We solve multi-class SVM+ and SVM+MTL problems by constructing several binary classifiers. Furthermore, to demonstrate the robustness and outstanding performance of SVM+MTL algorithm over other techniques, we utilized four typical multi-class processing methods in our experiments. The results show that SVM+MTL outperforms both conventional SVM and novel SVM+ in predicting corporate credit rating. This study contributes to the literature by showing the applicability of new techniques such as SVM+ and SVM+MTL and the outperformance of SVM+MTL over conventional techniques. Thus, this study enriches solving techniques for addressing multi-class problems such as corporate credit rating prediction.
Feasibility of MFC (Macro-Fiber Composite) Transducers for Guided Wave Technique
Gang Ren,Dongseok Yun,Hogeon Seo,Minkyoo Song,Kyung-Young Jhang 한국비파괴검사학회 2013 한국비파괴검사학회지 Vol.33 No.3
Since MFC(macro-fiber composite) transducer has been developed, many researchers have tried to apply this transducer on SHM(structural health monitoring), because it is so flexible and durable that it can be easily embedded to various kinds of structures. The objective of this paper is to figure out the benefits and feasibility of applying MFC transducers to guided wave technique. For this, we have experimentally tested the performance of MFC patches as transmitter and sensors for excitation and reception of guided waves on the thin aluminum alloy plate. In order to enhance the signal accuracy, we applied the FIR filter for noise reduction as well as used STFT(short-time Fourier transform) algorithm to image the guided wave characteristics clearly. From the results, the guided wave generated based on MFC showed good agreement with its theoretical dispersion curves. Moreover, the ultrasonic Lamb wave techniques based on MFC patches in pitch-catch manner was tested for detection of surface notch defects of which depths are 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% of the aluminum plate thickness. Results showed that the notch was detectable well when the notch depth was 10% of the thickness or greater.

The Research about the Principle of Landscape Design in Urban Avenue
Ren-Yong gang 한국디자인지식학회 2007 한국디자인지식학회 Conference Vol.2007 No.8
The city road landscape is the important constitution of the city, and it connects a city to the whole in a netted and linear form in order to become the good ecosystem. The road landscape has many functions such as vista buildup, improving microclimate of streets and traffic convenience. Greenbelt affects the landscape view and appearance with abundant effects, various positions and changeful season colors. The good or bad of the city road landscape have great effect in spirit civilization of people. For people living in the city, the improving of street landscape quantity can strengthen the pride of citizens and accelerate the material and spiritual civilization construction. For fluid populations those are not native, because they dwell for some time and spend on streets most of time. For this reason, city road landscape should first consider the function and property. Secondly, people’ apperceive of streets not only involves road surface itself, but also the building beside streets, the trees square scenery, billboard, crossroads and so on. A series of these things work to come onto being the whole image of streets, which influence the image of city.
New Approach for Constructing the Entangled-state Representation
Gang Ren,Hongyi Fan 한국물리학회 2010 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.56 No.4
We propose a new approach for constructing the generalized entangled-state representation of continuum variables; i.e., we introduce some normally-ordered Gaussian-form operators, represent-ing the completeness relation (integration of unity), and the resolution of unity leads to a projection operator of the entangled -state vector whose explicit form in Fock space can be derived. The tech-nique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators is essential in our discussions. For examples, we derive the entangled-state representation for two particles with di®erent masses and a kind of multipartite entangled state representation.
