<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>(Ni,Co,Mn)O<SUB>4</SUB> (NMC) oxides were prepared by conventional sintering (CS) and spark plasma sintering (SPS) using micro and nanopowders. Small hoping polaron theory was used in order to investigate effect of processing routes on electrical properties of NMC oxides as negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors. Also, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques were utilized to analyze compositional and structural effects on the electrical properties of NMC compounds. Hopping conduction in NMC prepared by SPS and CS using nanopowder occurs via variable range hopping (VRH) mechanism, however conduction in NMC prepared by CS using micropowder follows nearest neighboring hopping (NNH) mode. Hopping distance and activation energy for the VRH mode were calculated using corresponding physical model.</P>

Co<SUB>x</SUB>Mn<SUB>3-x</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> (CMO) nanopowders with a wide compositional range (0.9@?x@?2.7) are synthesized using a gel combustion method. The effect of Co content and calcination temperature on the crystal structure of the CMO nanopowders is studied using X-ray diffraction. A highly crystalline cubic spinel structure can be obtained at a relatively low temperature (~700<SUP>o</SUP>C) for CMO with a Co content of 1.8. Further increases in Co content to 2.7 leads to a higher formation temperature (~800<SUP>o</SUP>C) required in order to form a crystalline cubic structure. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the Co and Mn cations have mixed valence states. Energy dispersive X-ray elemental mapping indicates that Co and Mn cations are homogeneously distributed in the CMO nanopowders. Thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence are utilized to investigate the formation of the CMO nanopowders, as well as the compositional and structural properties.

Central venous disease (CVD) is a serious complication in hemodialysis patients. Neurological manifestations are rare. We describe a female with end-stage renal disease with throbbing headache accompanied by paresthesia, weakness, and abnormal posture of her right hand during dialysis sessions. Motor symptoms completely resolved after each dialysis session, although the headaches persisted for several hours. No neurological deficit was evidenced on physical examination. Digital subtraction angiography identified an incomplete thrombosis of the left brachiocephalic vein with retrograde flow in the internal jugular vein, sigmoid sinus, and transverse sinus on the left side. This case illustrates that cerebral venous congestion due to CVD can produce neurological symptoms. Furthermore, we systematically review the literature to identify the characteristics of the cases described so far. This allows clinicians to know the entity and have a high index of suspicion in a hemodialysis patient who develops neurological symptoms.

육학이란 식품학, 근육생물학, 축산 및 성장생물학(growth biology)등이 연결된 복합적인 학문이라 할 수 있다. 이제까지 연구내용으로부터 앞으로의 연구 방향을 추정해 본다면 분야별로 다음과 같이 나눌 수 있을 것이다. 먼저 기초연구로서 근육조직과 근육의 생물학적 기능에 대해 연구가 계속될 것이다. 둘째, 육과 육제품의 소비측면에서는 생산원가의 절감으로 저가의 육제품 생산과 무엇보다도 육 및 유제품의 오염물질에 대한 안정성에 관한 연구가 활발할 것이며, 또한 소비를 촉진시키기 위해서는 기호성이 높고 편이한 육제품의 개발에 대한 연구가 진행될 것이다. 셋째, 산업체 관련연구로서는 가공기술 향상, 도축후 육의 합리적인 취급방법 모색, 도체의 동정 및 등급화, 도체의 합리적인 가격산정 및 새로운 육제품의 개발 등의 연구를 들 수 있다. 마지막으로 육과 관련한 사양에 대한 연구는 질이 좋은 저지방의 축육 생산품에 관한 연구도 꾸준하게 진행될 것으로 본다. Looking to the future, we can expect more changes in the field of Meat Science as we move into the 21st century, than has occurred in the rest of recorded and unrecorded history. There are numerous factors that will contribute to this advancement. As we stand at the doorstep of the next century the microchip has only begun to impact our discipline of study and the industry that we serve. Not only will the microchip extend our powers of observation and the ability to record and store far more information than can reasonably be used and analyzed, but it will allow control of production and processing to an extent that we can only begin to imagine.
A Case Study of Pigmentation and Textural Changes Associated with Needling Yin Tang

In this article, a case is presented in which repeated needling of the Yin Tang point over the course of 6 years was perceived to cause pigmentation and textural changes to the skin. Others have reported changes to pigmentation, but those changes were either short- er lived and associated with strong stimulation, or were associated with implanting a sil- ver needle for several years.

이 연구는 히터코어의 환기 및 열 손실을 감소시키는 2층 HVAC 시스템의 오프 사이클 연비 효과를 결정하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 이 테스트는 2016 Lexus RX350(3.5L, 8단 자동 변속기) 차량으로 다양한 외기 온도 조건에서 EPA 주행 모드를 이용하여, 2층 HAVC 기술 유무에 대해 엔진 예열 변화에 따른 엔진 효율의 차이를 측정하기 위해 수행되었습니다. (2층 HVAC 기술 미적용 : 외기 모드) 이 실험 데이터들은 열에 대한 함수로 차량 효율을 예측하는 단순화된 반응 표면 및 집중 용량 차량 열 모델을 개발하는데 사용되었다. 이 차량 모델은 도로 주행 테스트에서 측정한 데이터 베이스로 통합되었고, 수십만 번의 주행 사이클 동안 계절별 열 부하 및 구동 조건에서 차량 효율을 시뮬레이션 하기 위해 미국의 기상 데이터와 결합하였다.
Beginning Principals in the Republic of Korea: The Challenges of New Leadership

Effective leadership of principals is one of the crucial factors for innovating schools and improving the quality of school education. At present, a Korean teachers’ union harshly criticizes the current recruiting system of principals, in which the government exclusively appoints new principals from a group of teachers who have acquired a principal’s certificate. As the union argues that this system has been the major hindrance of school innovation, they argue for a new system, in which a principal is elected by the teachers themselves, and demand a new democratic principal leadership. In this context, the challenges awaiting school principals in Korean society are remarkably big and unprecedented. As part of a larger cross-national study which compares the professional induction of beginning elementary school principals in several countries in the West and in the East, this study investigates what it is like to become a principal in Korea, who they are, what their expected roles, priorities, and concerns are, what challenges they have faced, and so on, and tries to find alternatives to help these beginning principals exert effective leadership and thus facilitate school improvement.
