Cell sheet engineering, which allows tissue engineering to be realized without the use of biodegradable scaffolds as an original approach, using a temperature-responsive intelligent surface, has been applied in regenerative medicine for various tissues, and a number of clinical studies have been already performed for life-threatening diseases. By using the results and findings obtained from the initial clinical studies, additional investigative clinical studies in several tissues with cell sheet engineering are currently in preparation stage. For treating many patients effectively by cell sheet engineering, an automated system integrating cell culture, cell-sheet fabrication, and layering is essential, and the system should include an advanced three-dimensional suspension cell culture system and an in vitro bioreactor system to scale up the production of cultured cells and fabricate thicker vascularized tissues. In this paper, cell sheet engineering, its clinical application, and further the authors' challenge to develop innovative cell culture systems under newly legislated regulatory platform in Japan are summarized and discussed.

Recently, in multiple beam mobile satellite systems, onboard frequency domain switching(FDS) is applied enabling flexible large capacity routing. In this paper, channel transmission characteristics are investigated for FDS. At first, overlap and save operation and concept of FDS are explained. Selecting a channel is performed by selecting frequency samples. Transmission characteristics and required number of samples par channel are investigated. It was shown that out of band characteristics are determined by the truncation time window. In this procedure, in order to improve out of band characteristics, additional weighting by cosine roll-off time window matched with the overlap and save operation is proposed. It is shown that by the proposed window, which does not affect signal transmission, out of band characteristics can be conspicuously improved. Finally QPSK transmission characteristics are also investigated.
A function-field analogue of the Goldbach counting function and the associated Dirichlet series

We consider a function-field analogue of Dirichlet series associated with the Goldbach counting function, and prove that it can, or cannot, be continued meromorphically to the whole plane. When it cannot, we further prove the existence of the natural boundary of it.

We propose a cosmological survey to probe star formation and nuclear activityin galaxies at redshifts of z = 2 - 4 by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH) features usingthe SPICA mid-infrared instrument (SMI)with a spectral resolution of R = 20. We will cover a wavelength range of 20-36 μmthat corresponds to z = 2 - 4 for the PAH features(11.3, 7.7, and 6.2 μm). The sensitivity will be $1\times10^{-19}$ W/m$^2$ (5 $\sigma$)in case of a referencesurvey that covers 4 arcmin$^2$ field in a one-hour observation. It corresponds to L$_{\rm IR}$=$2\times10^{11}$ $L_\odot$ at z=3and will give us more than 10000 galaxies in a 450 hour survey.
