        A new filter with limited rotation invariance for real target functions is proposed. This filter is Fourier transform of the real part of the sum of the multiple circular harmonic component of a target. An expression for the peak correlation intensity at the origin of the correlation plane is derived. A computer experiment confirms the theoretical predictions. The computer simulation shows the ability of the filter to recognize a target within an angular range of 10∼20。 in the dresence of other patterns.

        The method of optical implementation is proposed for optical 2-D perfect shuffles using an optical correlator. Using the optical correlator, only one magnified and masked input plane is generated instead of four copies of the input plane. A correlation filter is designed to shift and superimpose four copies properly. One correlation filter, instead of using four filters, can reduce the size of the optical system. The desired 2-D shuffle output is obtained in the center region of the correlation output plane. The results of the computer simulations show the proposed correlation system is suitable for the optical 2-D perfect shuffle.

        Edge is one of the primitive features of an picture and are widely used in image processing. New edge extraction methods using various entropy operators are presented and reduce drawbacks which are edge smothing and difficulty of edge extraction in bright region of a picture. In particular, 2×2 entropy operator has a feaure of schetching in edges. The comparision of performances with proposed operators to different operators shows significant improvements and proves good practically.

        We reviewed 10 years experiences of the clinical aspects and early postoperative results in 544 pediatric patients(age less than 16 years old). Among them. 529 cases had the congenital heart diseases, and 15 had the acquired diseases. Open heart surgery was performed in 413 patients. 115 cases were treated with non-open heart surgery. 16 with interventional catheterization. Annual increase of the cardiac patients was not significant in recent 10 years, except slight increase in 1994. The mean age of the study patients had been evidently changed to younger year by year. Total mortality rate of the open heart surgery was 6.4%. The cyanotic congenital heart diseases were high in early postoperative mortality by 25.7%, whereas 4% in acyanotic group. The age group less than one month was most highest in surgical mortality(66.7%). There were no deaths in patients with patent ductus arteriosus(103 cases), atrial septal defect(83 cases) or pulmonary stenosis(17 cases). Among 220 patients with ventricular septal defects(VSD). 10(4.5%) were died early postoperatively. In cyanotic group, the patients with pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defects(PAVSD), transposition of the great arteries(TGA), interrupted aortic arch(IAA), complex cardiac anomalies with isomerism seemed to be most susceptible to an early death.

        스마트폰을 이용한 OMR 답안 마킹 자동 인식

        시험지와 별도로 제공되는 OMR 답안지와는 달리 시험지의 각 문항에 직접 OMR 답안 마킹 양식을 제공하고 스마트폰을 이용하여 각 문항별로 마킹된 답을 자동 인식하고 해설 기능까지 제공하면 자율학습 및 스마트러닝 관점에서 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 시험지 문항별로 제공되는 OMR 답안 항목에 마킹된 답을 스마트폰으로 자동 인식할 수 있는 어플리케이션 구현 방법을 제안하였다. OMR 답안 문항마다 QR코드를 배치하여 암호화된 답안 정보를 제공하고 답안의 위치를 추정할 수 있는 기준점으로 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 시험지의 각 문항별 OMR 답안 영역을 추출하고 마킹된 답을 인식한 다음 정답과 비교할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 알고리즘을 스마트폰에 구현한 다음 다양한 크기와 방향으로 촬영한 문항별 OMR 답안 영상에 대해 인식 실험을 해 본 결과 우수한 인식 성능을 얻을 수 있었다. The smart phone application to provide auto identification and answer explanation of multiple choice answer for each OMR answer item in the test paper different from ordinary OMR test by using smart phone is very useful in terms of a self learning and a smart learning. In this paper, smart phone application of OMR mark identification for each question item in test paper is proposed. QR code for each OMR answer is provided for the encrypted correct answer and the reference location of multiple choice answer rectangle location. The OMR answer region is extracted and the marked answer is identified in each question of test paper, in order to compare between the marking answer and the correct answer. Experimental result of smart phone application of the proposed algorithm for the OMR answer images with various size and direction shows excellent recognition performance.

        A new method for optical computing is presented. This method can be used for implementing optical neural networks based on a frequency multiplexed raster (FMR). A hidden difficulty for hardware (optical and electronic) implementation is that the dimension of the synaptic matrix is twice that of the input and output matrices or vectors. For 2-D images, which is we belive one of the greatest potentialities of neural networks, the synaptic matrix is 4-D and cannot be directly implemented in optics. We use FMR as a method to fold this matrix into 2-D format and present multi-imaging and manifying method for 2-D input matrices or probes.

This paper shows an extension of polyphase filter banks to the two-dimensional case.

        This paper deals with the reconstruction of signals from quadrature mirror filter(QMF) banks. A matrix formulation on the problem is presented which facilitates the design of the synthesis QMF banks. Well-known results for two-band QMF bank are rederived and parallel equivalents of multiband filter bank structure are discussed in view of the presented theory.

        The positive-negative binary(PNB) number system offers parallel addition and subtraction of any two numbers, with carry propagation constrained only between two adjacent pair of digits the positive-negative weight pn. Baased on PNB addition, parallel algorithms for sebtractin and multiplication are developed in this paper. The optical implemintations of these PNB arithmetic algorithms are developed on the basis of symbolic substitution(SS). Some properties of this nemver representation and several exalmples of computation are presented.

        The redundant binary(RB) number system offers parallel addition and subtraction of any two numbers, with carry propagation constrained only between two adjacent pair of digits the same weight nr. Based on RB addition, parallel algorithms for subtraction and multiplication are developed in this paper. The optical implementations of these RB arithmetic algorithms are developed on the basis of symbolic substitution(SS). New SS rules composed of five groups whose addition results are the same are proposed. Some properties of this number representation and several examples of computation are presented.
