      • The Impact of Influencer Characteristics and Platform Affordances on the Likeliness of Impulse Buying : Focusing on the Chinese TikTok live commerce platform

        Congyi Sheng,Sung-Byung Yang 한국경영정보학회 2021 한국경영정보학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.11

China has now become the largest live commerce market and the COVID-19 has catalyzed live commerce into the next level. TikTok is a platform that is popular with short video sharing and the largest number of daily active users in the world. After its live commerce function was first introduced in 2019, TikTok has become among the top three live commerce platforms in China within just a few years. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the growth speed of TikTok live commerce exponentially increases and its potential seems unlimited. Although consumers’ (watchers’) impulse buying is considered one of main success factors, the specific mechanism on how their impulse buying is influenced has not been clearly investigated. Therefore, based on the S-O-R framework, this study identifies influencer (i.e., attractiveness, expertise, and interactivity) and platform characteristics (i.e., guidance shopping, visibility, and metavoicing) as stimuli factors and examines their impacts on the likeliness of impulse buying (response) through flow experiences (i.e., enjoyment and concentration) as organism factors in Chinese individual live commerce context using the TikTok platform. With survey responses from 324 Chinese consumers who have used TikTok live commerce at least once within six months, research hypotheses were tested using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. Research findings show that, with the exception for interactivity and metavoicing, most stimuli factors have an impact on enjoyment and concentration, and both flow-related experiences also influence consumers’ likeliness of impulse buying. This research would enrich the studies on live commerce and expand the S-O-R framework in the context of live commerce. It is expected that this study will provide many practical implications for managers as well.

      • A general active-learning method for surrogate-based structural reliability analysis

        Congyi Zha,Zhili Sun,Jian Wang,Chenrong Pan,Zhendong Liu,Pengfei Dong 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.83 No.2

Surrogate models aim to approximate the performance function with an active-learning design of experiments (DoE) to obtain a sufficiently accurate prediction of the performance function’s sign for an inexpensive computational demand in reliability analysis. Nevertheless, many existing active-learning methods are limited to the Kriging model, while the uncertainties of the Kriging itself affect the reliability analysis results. Moreover, the existing general active-learning methods may not achieve a fully satisfactory balance between accuracy and efficiency. Therefore, a novel active-learning method GLM- CM is constructed to yield the issues, which conciliates several merits of existing methods. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed method, four examples, concerning both mathematical and engineering problems, were selected. By benchmarking obtained results with literature findings, various surrogate models combined with the proposed method not only provide an accurate reliability evaluation while highly alleviating the computational burden, but also provides a satisfactory balance between accuracy and efficiency compared to the other reliability methods.

Application of Principal Components Analysis Method to Wireless Sensor Network Based Structural Monitoring Systems

Congyi, Zhang,Mission, Jose Leo,Kim, Sung-Ho,Youk, Yui-Su,Kim, Hyeong-Joo Korean Institute of Intelligent Systems 2008 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.8 No.1

Typical wireless sensor networks used in structural monitoring are continuous types wherein data transmission is progressive at all time that may include irrelevant and insignificant data and information. Continuous types of wireless monitoring systems often pose problems of handling large-sized data that may deteriorate the performance of the system. The proposed method is to suggest an event-triggered monitoring system that captures and transmits relevant data only. An error signal generated by the Principal Components Analysis (PCA) is utilized as an index for event detection and selective data transmission. With this new monitoring scheme, the remote server is relieved of unwanted data by receiving only relevant information from the wireless sensor networks. The performance of the proposed scheme was verified with simulation studies.

A Robust Sericin Hydrogel Formed by a Native Sericin from Silkworm Bodies

        Yeshun Zhang,Wu Tangfeng,Congyi Shen,Gang Xu,Heguang Chen,Hui Yan,Meng Xiong,Guozheng Zhang 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.7

Sericin hydrogels with a serial of excellent properties are attractive in tissue engineering but still limited due totheir poor mechanical strength. In this study we report a robust sericin hydrogel with high elastic modulus (310 kPa) that wasformed by a native sericin solution with high concentration (16 %, w/v) collected from silkworm bodies. The hydrogel wasperformed via H2O2 and presented gelling kinetics within 30 s. This hydrogel possesses eximious elasticity, goodcytocompatibility, and more stable in solution as well as porous structure. In addition, the hydrogel system is suitable forloading bioactive molecules owing to its wonderful sustained manner for delivering bioactive reagent. Together, our studyindicates that the sericin hydrogel may serve as a new multifunctional platform for extending the application of sericin intissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

      • Alternative Splicing of Breast Cancer Associated Gene BRCA1 from Breast Cancer Cell Line

Lixia, Miao,Zhijian, Cao,Chao, Shen,Chaojiang, Gu,Congyi, Zheng Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.1

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women, and mutations in the BRCA1 gene produce increased susceptibility to these malignancies in certain families. In this study, the forward 1-13 exons of breast cancer associated gene BRCA1 were cloned from breast cancer cell line ZR-75-30 by RT-PCR method. Sequence analysis showed that nine BRCA1 splice forms were isolated and characterized, compared with wild-type BRCA1 gene, five splice forms of which were novel. These splice isoforms were produced from the molecular mechanism of 5' and 3' alternative splicing. All these splice forms deleting exon 11b and the locations of alternative splicing were focused on two parts:one was exons 2 and 3, and the other was exons 9 and 10. These splice forms accorded with GT-AG rule. Most these BRCA1 splice variants still kept the original reading frame. Western blot analysis indicated that some BRCA1 splice variants were expressed in ZR-75-30 cell line at the protein level. In addition, we confirmed the presence of these new transcripts of BRCA1 gene in MDA-MB-435S, K562, Hela, HLA, HIC, H9, Jurkat and human fetus samples by RT-PCR analysis. These results suggested that breast cancer associated gene BRCA1 may have unexpectedly a large number of splice variants. We hypothesized that alternative splicing of BRCA1 possibly plays a major role in the tumorigenesis of breast and/or ovarian cancer. Thus, the identification of cancer-specific splice forms will provide a novel source for the discovery of diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers and tumor antigens suitable as targets for therapeutic intervention.

      • Expression of Bacillus subtilis proBA Genes and Reduction of Feedback Inhibition of Proline Synthesis Increases Proline Production and Confers Osmotolerance in Transgenic Arabidopsis

Chen, Mingqing,Wei, Hongbo,Cao, JunWei,Liu, Ruijie,Wang, Youliang,Zheng, Congyi Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.3

Proline accumulation has been shown to correlate with tolerance to drought and salt stresses in plants. We attempt to introduce the wild-type, mutant, and fusion proBA genes derived from Bacillus subtilis into Arabidopsis thaliana under the control of a strong promoter cauliflower mosaic virus 35S (CaMV35S). The transgenic plants produced higher level of free proline than control and the overproduction of proline resulted in the increased tolerance to osmotic stress in transgenic plants. Besides, the mutation in proBA genes, which were proved to lead $\alpha$-glutamyl kinase ($\alpha$-GK) reduces sensitivity to the end-product inhibition and the fusion of proB and proA also result in increasing proline production and confer osmotolerance in transgenic lines.
