An ejector driven by a liquid is a fluid transfer equipment to be used under a poor suction condition, which means that there exists a possibility to occur a cavitation. It is a highly reliable device because it has no movable part in it, that is only a passive equipment. The ejector is an inevitably necessary one to overcome a poor pumping condition and to mix uniformly two fluids, however it has a low efficiency since it requires a pump for its operation. This study is for the development of a new-type liquid ejector with the application of a nozzle shape alteration, which maximize the suction performance of it. which provides the increased competition with the domestic industries. Also, the increased performance opens a new manufacturing method to use a commercial pipes for the production of an ejector, which is based on a trivial loss of a performance. However, this minor loss can be sufficiently compensated by the increased performance of a new-type ejector. Therefore, the developed ejector by this study can considerably reduce the manufacturing time and cost while its performance is largely increased.

A state of equilibrium means that the thermophysical properties must be equal no matter where a measurement is performed in a system. However, some recent studies reported that there exists the temperature difference over a liquid-vapor interface even though the system is at a state of equilibrium when a system reduces to a nanoscalesize. Those conclusions leave a strong question as to whether the definition of a thermal equilibrium state should be changed in the case of nanoscale systems. In the present study, we carefully investigated the temperature profile over a liquid-vapor interface using the molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and found that the temperature difference between a liquid phase and a vapor phase over an interface resulted from the methodological difference of the temperature calculation. That is, the definition of a thermal equilibrium state has no reason to be changed no matter how a system would be small.

Desuperheater is a passive device to control the temperature of steam in various plants. However, in spite of its simple structure, the accurate prediction of a desuperheater is very difficult because there are many designed factors for the design of a desuperheater. In this study, the theory of heat transfer phenomena in a desuperheater was developed and the various design factors are evaluated. As a results, we confirmed that the droplet size of 30 - 200㎛ is best effective for the performance of a desuperheater.

A durability testing method under thermo-mechanical stress for thermal barrier coatings (TBC) specimens was designed by a combination of an electric furnace and a tensile testing machine, which was done on TBCs on NIMONIC 263 substrates by an atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) deposition method. The testing conditions were chosen according to a preliminary experiment that identified the elastic deformation region of the top coating and the substrate during mechanical loading. Surface cracking and a decrease in the thickness of the top coating, which are typical degradation behaviors under conventional thermal shock testing, were observed after the designed thermal fatigue test, and delamination at the top coating-bond coating interface occurred by the mechanical load. Lifetime assessment was conducted by statistical software using lifecycle data which were obtained after the thermal fatigue test.

N/A The effect of mold density and evacuation on surface defect of high chromium cast iron upon EPC process was investigated. Under evacuation of 0.1~0.3 atm, surface defects were carbon defect, burn on and misrun. Carbon defect was augmented by increasing mold density from 0.011 g/㎤ to 0.03 g/㎤ under evacuation of 0.1~0.3 atm, but carbon defect was decreased by increasing evacuation from 0.1 to 0.3 atm. Burn-on wasn`t found under evacuation of 0.1 atm regardless of mold density, but burn-on was augmented by increasing evacuation from 0.2 to 0.3 atm and decreased by reducing mold density. Misrun was only found under 0.1 atm evacuation and 0.011 g/㎤ mold density.

Wheeled mobile robot has different mobility and steerability which determined by type of wheel and it's arrangement. Generally wheeled mobile robot's dynamics are nonlinear and various control methods have studied to control the mobile robot efficiently. In this paper, a T-S fuzzy modeling of a 2-wheeled mobile robot is made and a stable LMI-based state feedback fuzzy controller is designed and applied to the position control of the mobile robot for the reference trajectory following. Also, the verification of the designed controller is done by computer simulation.
