      • Speech Enhancement in the Subband Domain

Wu, Wen Rong,Chen, Po Cheng,Wang, Chih Song 대한전자공학회 1994 ISPACS:Intelligent Signal Processing and Communica Vol.1 No.1

The main goal of speech enhancement is to filter speech contaminated by additive white or colored noise. Conventional approach is to model speech as a high order time varying AR process and apply the Kalman filter However, the conventional approach has two problems. First, the high order Kalman filter, which involves intensive matrix computation, is difficult to be implemented. Second, the estimate of AR parameters from noisy speech is not trivial In this paper, we propose new approaches to solve these problems We model subband signals of speech as AR processes and then apply Kalman filter to filter noise. Since the lower order AR models can be used for the subband signals, we can apply a lower order Kalman filter to avoid the intensive computation To solve the second problem, we propose new adaptive algorithms for white or colored noise respectively The new algorithm is also compared with normalized LMS algorithm. Sunulation results show that the speech enhancement w subband domain has ranch better performance than that in fullband domain

      • CAD-Based Pose Estimation for Random Bin-Picking of Multiple Objects Using a RGB-D Camera

        Cheng-Hei Wu,Sin-Yi Jiang,Kai-Tai Song 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10

In this paper, we propose a CAD-based 6-DOF pose estimation design for random bin-picking of multiple different objects using a Kinect RGB-D sensor. 3D CAD models of objects are constructed via a virtual camera, which generates a point cloud database for object recognition and pose estimation. A voxel grid filter is suggested to reduce the number of 3D point cloud of objects for reducing computing time of pose estimation. A voting-scheme method was adopted for the 6-DOF pose estimation a swell as object recognition of different type objects in the bin. Furthermore, an outlier filter is designed to filter out bad matching poses and occluded ones, so that the robot arm always picks up the upper object in the bin to increase pick up success rate. A series of experiments on a Kuka 6-axis robot revels that the proposed system works satisfactorily to pick up all random objects in the bin. The average recognition rate of three different type objects is 93.9% and the pickup success rate is 89.7%.

The effect of light on follicular development in laying hens

Cheng, Shi Bin,Li, Xian Qiang,Wang, Jia Xiang,Wu, Yan,Li, Peng,Pi, Jin Song Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.11

Objective: The oxidative stress status and changes of chicken ovary tissue after shading were studied, to determine the mechanism of the effect of shading on follicular development. Methods: Twenty healthy laying hens (40 weeks old) with uniform body weight and the same laying rate were randomly divided into two groups (the shading group and normal light group). In the shading group, the cage was covered to reduce the light intensity inside the cage to 0 without affecting ventilation or food intake. The normal lighting group received no additional treatment. After 7 days of shading, oxidative stress related indicators and gene expression were detected. Results: Analysis of paraffin and ultrathin sections showed that apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) increased significantly after light shading. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay results revealed that the levels of total antioxidant capacity, malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione, catalase (CAT), and other substances in the sera, livers, ovaries, and follicular GCs of laying hens increased significantly after shading for 7 days; and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in the livers of laying hens also increased significantly. ROS in the serum, ovarian and GCs also increased. After shading for 7 days, the levels of 8-hydroxy-2 deoxyguanosine in the sera and ovarian tissues of laying hens increased significantly. Cell counting kit-8 detection showed that the proliferation activity of GCs in layer follicles decreased after shading for 7 days; the expression level of the anti-apoptotic gene B-cell lymphoma-2 in ovarian tissue and follicular GCs was significantly reduced, and the expression levels of pro-apoptotic caspase 3 (casp3), and SOD, glutathione peroxidase 2 (GPX2), and CAT were all significantly increased. Conclusion: Oxidative stress induced by shading light has a serious inhibitory effect on follicular development during reproduction in laying hens.

Failure analysis of prestressed concrete containment vessels under internal pressure considering thermomechanical coupling

        Wu Yu-Xiao,Fei Zi-Jian,Feng De-Cheng,Song Meng-Yan 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.12

After a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) in the prestressed concrete containment vessels (PCCVs) of nuclear power plants, the coupling of temperature and pressure can significantly affect the mechanical properties of the PCCVs. However, there is no consensus on how this coupling affects the failure mechanism of PCCVs. In this paper, a simplified finite element modeling method is proposed to study the effect of temperature and pressure coupling on PCCVs. The experiment results of a 1:4 scale PCCV model tested at Sandia National Laboratory (SNL) are compared with the results obtained from the proposed modeling approach. Seven working conditions are set up by varying the internal and external temperatures to investigate the failure mechanism of the PCCV model under the coupling effect of temperature and pressure. The results of this paper demonstrate that the finite element model established by the simplified finite element method proposed in this paper is highly consistent with the experimental results. Furthermore, the stress-displacement curve of the PCCV during loading can be divided into four stages, each of which corresponds to the damage to the concrete, steel liner, steel rebar, and prestressing tendon. Finally, the failure mechanism of the PCCV is significantly affected by temperature.

Dronedarone Attenuates Ang II-Induced Myocardial Hypertrophy Through Regulating SIRT1/FOXO3/PKIA Axis

        Cheng Chen,Song Hu,Heng-Jing Hu,Zhi-Xuan Liu,Xin-Teng Wu,Tao Zou,Hua Su 대한심장학회 2024 Korean Circulation Journal Vol.54 No.4

Background and Objectives: Long-term pathological myocardial hypertrophy (MH) seriously affects the normal function of the heart. Dronedarone was reported to attenuate left ventricular hypertrophy of mice. However, the molecular regulatory mechanism of dronedarone in MH is unclear. Methods: Angiotensin II (Ang II) was used to induce cell hypertrophy of H9C2 cells. Transverse aortic constriction (TAC) surgery was performed to establish a rat model of MH. Cell size was evaluated using crystal violet staining and rhodamine phalloidin staining. Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot were performed to detect the mRNA and protein expressions of genes. JASPAR and luciferase activity were conducted to predict and validate interaction between forkhead box O3 (FOXO3) and protein kinase inhibitor alpha (PKIA) promoter. Results: Ang II treatment induced cell hypertrophy and inhibited sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) expression, which were reversed by dronedarone. SIRT1 overexpression or PKIA overexpression enhanced dronedarone-mediated suppression of cell hypertrophy in Ang II-induced H9C2 cells. Mechanistically, SIRT1 elevated FOXO3 expression through SIRT1-mediated deacetylation of FOXO3 and FOXO3 upregulated PKIA expression through interacting with PKIA promoter. Moreover, SIRT1 silencing compromised dronedarone-mediated suppression of cell hypertrophy, while PKIA upregulation abolished the influences of SIRT1 silencing. More importantly, dronedarone improved TAC surgery-induced MH and impairment of cardiac function of rats via affecting SIRT1/FOXO3/PKIA axis. Conclusions: Dronedarone alleviated MH through mediating SIRT1/FOXO3/PKIA axis, which provide more evidences for dronedarone against MH.

A new ambipolar copolymer for organic electronics

Wu, Xinwei,Sun, Cheng,Song, Hyeng gun,Kim, Yun-Hi The Korean Infomation Display Society 2018 Journal of information display Vol.19 No.1

The 5-(heptadecan-9-yl)dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyridine (NET) structure was designed as a new donor unit for copolymer synthesis. Benzothiadiazole (BT) was used as the electron acceptor unit. The new donor-acceptor copolymer was obtained through the Stille coupling reaction. The density functional theory analysis of the new copolymer showed that the highest occupied molecular orbital electron density was localized on the NET unit while the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital electron density was localized partially on the BT and partially on the pyridine group of the NET unit. The polymer presented good solubility and thermal stability, which are desirable properties for use in solution-processed devices. The new polymer is expected to show a potential for application in organic electronics, such as thin-film transistors.

Outcomes of epidural steroids following percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy: a meta-analysis and systematic review

        Yinghao Song,Changxi Li,Jingjing Guan,Cheng Li,Haisheng Wu,Xinzhi Cheng,Bingyu Ling,Jinglang Zhang 대한통증학회 2022 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.35 No.1

Background: Percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) has been widely used in the treatment of lumbar degenerative diseases. Epidural injection of steroids can reduce the incidence and duration of postoperative pain in a short period of time. Although steroids are widely believed to reduce the effect of surgical trauma, the observation indicators are not uniform, especially the long-term effects, so the problem remains controversial. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to evaluate the efficacy of epidural steroids following PTED. Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Database from 1980 to June 2021 to identify randomized and non-randomized controlled trials comparing epidural steroids and saline alone following PTED. The primary outcomes included postoperative pain at least 6 months as assessed using a visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). The secondary outcomes included length of hospital stay and the time of return to work. Results: A total of 451 patients were included in three randomized and two nonrandomized controlled trials. The primary outcomes, including VAS and ODI scores, did not differ significantly between epidural steroids following PTED and saline alone. There were no significant intergroup differences in length of hospital stay. Epidural steroids were shown to be superior in terms of the time to return to work (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Intraoperative epidural steroids did not provide significant benefits, leg pain control, improvement in ODI scores, and length of stay in the hospital, but it can enable the patient to return to work faster.

Multiconsensus of Second Order Multiagent Systems with Directed Topologies

        Guang-Song Han,Zhi-Hong Guan,Xin-Ming Cheng,Yonghong Wu,Feng Liu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.6

A novel multiconsensus problem is introduced in multiagent systems. The states of multiple agents in each subnetwork asymptotically converge to a consistent value with information exchanges among subnetworks. The multiconsensus problem of second order multiagent systems with directed topologies is studied. Three linear protocols are proposed to solve the multiconsensus problem. Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived based on matrix theory. Simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.
