      • Seismic stratigraphic reconstruction of Plio-Quaternary depositional sequences on the continental shelf of Korea Strait

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Korea Strait is a seaway connecting the East Sea with the East China Sea. The Plio-Quaternary stratigraphy and sedimentation on the Korea Strait shelf was studied using a dense network of high-resolution, single-channel seismic reflection profiles. The shelf sequences above the acoustic basement consist of seven depositional sequences separated by erosional unconformities corresponding to falls in sea level. Individual sequences are characterized by well-stratified and complex sigmoid-oblique prograding reflection configurations, reflecting a history of upbuilding and outbuilding in response to repetitive transgressive and regressive events driven by sea level changes. During the regression to lowstand of sea level, lowstand prograding wedges were formed seaward along the present shelf margin, whereas during the highstand of sea level, as in the present condition, highstand deposits were deposited in the inner shelf along the coast. However, as the subsequent regression began, the inner-shelf highstand deposits were severely eroded out and/or formed a condensed section. Volumetrically, the forced regressive and lowstand systems tracts are the most important components of the Korea Strait. Consequently, the Plio-Quaternary sequence in this area consists of a succession of stacked progradational lowstand wedges, mainly formed during the regression and lowstand of sea level.</P>

      • 개성공업지구 중단의 적법요건 및 재개방안 모색

        최근 한반도는 국내외 정세의 영향으로 요동치고 있다. 지난해 남북 통신선을 끊고 개성공업지구에 소재한 남북공동연락사무소를 폭파했던 북한은 통신선을 복원했다가 한미연합훈련을 문제 삼아 다시 차단했다. 개성공업지구가 중단되지 않고 유지되었다면 연락사무소는 폭파되지 않았고 통신선도 차단되지 않았을 것이다. 개성공업지구는 한반도의 긴장을 완화하고 평화경제를 실현하던 남북경제협력의 상징이었다. 개성공업지구가 중단된지 5년이 지났다. 중단 당시 언론 기사 및 정부의 발표는 “고도의 정치적 결단에 의한 행정조치”라고 했다. 하지만 중단에 대한 행정조치는 헌법이나 남북관계발전법, 남북교류협력법 등 그 어떤 법률에서도 직접적인 근거규정을 찾을 수 없었다. 남북경제협력사업에서 개성공업지구가 차별화된 이유는 남북 간 법·제도적 장치가 마련된 상태에서 운영되었기 때문이다. 지난 2013년 개성공업지구 잠정 중단에 대해, 당시 남북 간 체결한 ‘개성공업지구 정상화 합의서’는 ‘남북관계의 경색’과 같은 정치적 변수와 관계없이 개성공업지구의 운영을 제도적으로 보장하는 성격을 갖고 있었다. 박근혜 정부의 대북정책은 ‘한반도 신뢰프로세스’였다. 신뢰 프로세스는 남북관계를 발전시키고, 작은 통일에서 큰 통일을 이룩하자는 실질적 통일 준비를 위한 목표였다. 신뢰프로세스 구축을 위해 ‘통일준비위원회’를 출범시켜 각계 전문가들이 활발하게 활동할 수 있도록 하였다. 박근혜 정부의 이러한 대북정책 목표와 통일준비위원회의 활동에도 불구하고 취해진 중단 조치로 정부를 믿었던 입주기업들은 큰 피해를 입었다. 한편 중단 조치에 대하여 안타깝게 생각하는 뜻 있는 정치인 및 법률 전문가들은 피해를 입은 입주기업을 구제하기 위해 국가 배상 및 손실보상, 헌법소원 심판, 특별법 제정 등을 위해 노력을 아끼지 않았다. 이러한 관심과 도움을 바탕으로, 입주기업들은 중단 조치가 적법절차 원칙 위반 및 재산권 침해로 위헌임을 확인해 달라는 ‘개성공업지구 전면중단 조치 위헌확인’ 헌법소원심판을 청구했다. 정부에서 중단 조치를 할 때 ‘헌법과 법률에 근거하여 헌법과 법률이 정한 절차를 지켰는지’와 ‘중단 조치에 따라 침해를 당한 입주기업들의 재산권을 정당하게 보상하였는지’에 대한 헌법재판소의 판단을 구하고자 했다. 헌법소원심판 청구 이후, 입주기업들은 헌법재판소에 본안 심리에 대한 인용 결정을 끊임없이 촉구했다. 헌법재판소에서 이 사건 심판회부 결정을 하고도 본안심리를 개시조차 하지 못하는 데는 분명 법적 한계가 있었을 것이다. 입주기업들은 개성공업지구의 재개를 위해 많은 노력을 했지만 뜻을 이루지 못했다. 헌법재판소의 인용결정은 입주기업들의 명예를 회복하고 개성공업지구 재개를 위해 필요한 절차다. Lately, the situation on the Korean Peninsula has been fluctuating under the influence of domestic and foreign circumstances. North Korea, which interrupted inter-Korean communication lines last year and exploded the inter-Korean liaison office in the Kaesong Industrial Zone, has recently restored the communication lines and blocked them again while problematizing the South Korea-U.S. joint exercise . Had the Kaesong Industrial Zone been maintained uninterrupted, the liaison office would not have been blown up and the communication lines would not have been cut off. The Kaesong Industrial Zone was a symbol of inter-Korean economic cooperation that played a role at easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula by accomplishing a peaceful economy. Five years have passed since the Kaesong Industrial Zone was suspended. At the time of the shutdown, media articles and government announcements stated “administrative measures based on highly political decisions.” However, no direct basis for the suspension was found neither in the Constitution, nor the Inter-Korean Relations Development Act, or the Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Act. The reason why the Kaesong Industrial Zone was differentiated in the inter-Korean economic cooperation project is that it was operated with the legal and institutional arrangements between the two Koreas in place. Regarding the temporary suspension of the Kaesong Industrial Zone in 2013, the Agreement on the Normalization of the Kaesong Industrial Zone signed between the two Koreas at that time has the character of institutionally guaranteeing the operation of the Kaesong Industrial Zone regardless of political variables such as shrinkage of inter-Korean relations, for instance. The Park Geun-hye administration s North Korea policy consisted of a trust process on the Korean Peninsula. The trust process was aimed at developing inter-Korean relations and preparing for actual unification, from small unification to big unification. The ‘Unification Preparatory Committee’ was launched to build a trusting process so that experts from all areas could contribute actively . Meanwhile, despite the Park Geun-hye administration s North Korea policy goals and the activities of the Unification Preparatory Committee, the cessation measures were taken, and the companies that believed in the government have suffered great damage. Compromised members of the National Assembly and legal experts who felt sorrowful for the suspension did not spare their efforts to compensate the damaged tenant companies that invested in Kaesong, for national compensation and loss compensation, to adjudicate constitutional complaints and to enact special laws. Based on this interest and help, the tenant companies filed a constitutional complaint for “confirmation of the unconstitutionality of the total suspension of the Kaesong Industrial Zone” to confirm that the suspension was unconstitutional due to violation of the principle of due process and infringement of property rights. When the government suspends measures, the Constitutional Court is the entity that decides whether it has duly followed the procedures stipulated by the Constitution and laws based on the Constitution and laws and whether the property rights of tenant companies that have been infringed due to the suspension measures have been properly compensated . After filing a constitutional complaint, tenant companies constantly urged the Constitutional Court to make a decision to cite the trial on the merits. There must have been a legal limit to the fact that the Constitutional Court could not even start a trial on the merits even after making a decision to refer the case to a trial. Tenant companies made enormous efforts to reopen the Kaesong Industrial Zone, but to no avail. The Constitutional Court s decision to cite is a necessary procedure for restoring the honor of tenant companies and reopening the Kaesong Industrial Zone.

        This paper examines the state of foreign direct investment (FDI) in South Korea before and after the 1997 financial crisis and attempts to explain the relationship between FDI and the financial crisis. There is enough evidence that Korea's poor performance in inward direct investment before the crisis increased the economy's vulnerability to financial crisis. But the drastic change in economic conditions and FDI policies caused by the crisis has induced the surge of FDI into the country.

        This paper analyzes the changes in the competitiveness of Korean manufactures in the 1990's. International comparison of competitiveness indicators such as share in world export, export growth rate, RCA index and trade specialization index, is made among the 15 leading exporters of manufactures, office machine and telecom equipment, automotive products, textiles and clothing, respectively. Faced with challenges from the followers like China and Mexico, Korea lost competitiveness significantly in clothing. But she achieved good performance in other products and manufactures in general, although she suffered from Asian Crisis and her export growth slowed down.

      • 大學캠퍼스에서의 建物認知·評價에 관한 硏究 : 東新大學校 캠퍼스 利用者를 對象으로 Focusing on the Users of Dong-shin University Campus

        In order to analyze the degree of cognition of name, use and location on the map, the degree of utilization and the degree of evaluation on university campuses, results of research at the Dong-shin university campus using the S.D method are as follows; 1. Campus user's level on cognition of building is not high generally and evaluation shows a little negative. The reason why the level of cognition is not high is less interconnectionizing of the road system and of the facility placement system by campus's being under formation step and also dispersion placement by facility unit on a small scale disturb understanding completely about campus design structure. Low evaluation is affected by the disharmony and the shortage of diversity between placement of each building and layout with campus design. 2. It shows that cognition level of name, use, location on the map of campus building are affected a lots by the utilization measure. 3. The results of factor analysis based on the original data of the SD evaluation of campus building leads to seven evaluation factors; pluralism, restrictions, shape, friendship, scale, estheticism, simplicity. 4. It appears evaluation on campus building is distinguished into the positive building group and the negative building group in accordance with the axis of building evaluation factor, do the program method which can form mutual complemental design structure must be induced in case of reconstruction, enlargement, new construction of the existing building.

        Unsteady-state temperature distributions and thermal deformations for spindle system with built-in motor according to spindle type are studied. In this analysis, three dimensional model of spindle system is built considering heat transfer characteristics such as natural and forced convection coefficients. Temperature distributions and thermal deformations are analyzed by using the finite element method. Results of analysis according to the spindle type are compared.

      • Mo 섬유강화 Al 기지 복합재료의 계면반응 및 기계적성질에 관한 연구

        In this study, the molybdenum fiber reinforced 5052 Al alloy matrix composite were fabricated with copper coated and uncoated molybdenum fiber. These fibers were aligned on the aluminum alloy sheets and these sheets were diffusion bonded at 873K under 49MPa pressure using vaccum hot press. Examination of the fiber/matrix interface using SEM, EDS, X-ray diffraction indicated that several compounds formed at the interface. The reaction layer was found to form at a faster rate at the copper coated Mo/Al alloy composite interface than at uncoated Mp/Al alloy composite interface. A simple calculation showed that the reaction layer formation rate with the coated molybdenum fiber is controlled by the diffusion of aluminum through the copper coating layer. It was exhibited that copper coated Mo/Al alloy composite were lower strength than uncoated Mo/Al alloy composite with the after heat treatment. The observation of the fracture surfaces after tensile tests revealed that the fracture mode of the molybdenum fiber in as hot pressed composites was fibrous ductile fracture. On the other hand, the mode changed to a brittle cleavage mode in composites heat treated at 873K.

        This study is to secure the necessity and validity of recovering the urban dwelling function by examining and systematizing the meaning and factors of degeneration of urban dwelling functions and the concrete results of this study are as follows. 1. It is frequent that the degeneration of urban dwelling functions is interpreted as a part of temporarily necessary phenomena resulted in the stage of urban growth, but in the light of the aspects and seriousness of problems resulted from this, it is considered that the preparation of alternative for recovering its functions is very urgent. 2. The degeneration of urban dwelling functions means the decrease of population residing at urban area and the dispersion of the whole urban population according to the shift of residence and for establishing the index of degeneration, the continuous research and analysis of the current and motif of residential shift in urban area should be conducted on the basis of the understanding of urban spatial structure. 3. The degeneration of urban dwelling functions is resulted by complex effects of various factors, but since the weakening of competitiveness in urban location of housing and the lowering of environmental quality are major causes of the degeneration, the preparation of architectural planning and urban planning alternatives is required for improving this.

      • 街路建築物에서의 公開空地에 관한 硏究

        The city is the social space with a lot of people having the various and different background and positions. That the city is the social space of high density means it is the space for convenient and comfortable life with the sense of community in frequent activities by overcrowded people and for this, intentional human behaviors within the city. From such a viewpoint, this research is to examine and analyze the publicity of external space of buildings with open space which is the important factor in improving the quality of city and the results of the research are as follows. It is found that the installation of open space has been made at the place where urban development is actively performed from the center of city with many users, but the open space which secures the comfort of the city and then attracts the people is not secured and is in the stage of legal restriction and the conversion of building owner's consciousness is needed. It is analyzed that most of open space are located at the front, but in fact there is no device which intercepts the eyes of pedestrian and open space users and since each space is divided by merely ground border, it is difficult to find the hierarchy or territory of two spaces and more considerations should be given for users. It is shown that the obligatory installations of open space such as bench are not equipped. Since the open space in urban area should be prepared in the side of publicity for users as well as for the urban comport, it is considered that the conversion of building owner's consciousness and institutional supports like incentive system should be followed. Moreover, open space have an influence on the diversification of architectural design, architects must consider the diversification of location, form and components of open space to make it an attractive space for users.

        Late Pleistocene-Holocene sedimentary facies and evolution of the Jeju Strait shelf, southwest Korea

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The depositional environments of the Jeju Strait shelf since the last interglacial period are analyzed using sedimentary structures, grain size textures, sediment color, and optically-stimulated luminescence (OSL) and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) ages of vibro-cores. The shelf deposits can be divided into 12 sedimentary facies grouped into four depositional units: 1) shelf sand, 2) estuarine sand/mud, 3) fluvial sand/mud, and 4) shelf sand/mud. Each unit is separated by a sharp and unconformable erosion boundary. Unit 1 shows massive to slightly bedded sandy shells with oyster fragments, representing a shelf environment during sea-level highstand. The OSL date of the base of the unit is 124.4 ± 10.0 ka. Unit 2 is characterized by thin periodic parallel laminated mud, suggesting tidal signatures in tidal flats. Sediments are typically moderate brownish, suggesting extreme weathering after deposition. The OSL dates of this unit range from 81.1 ± 5.3 to 74.2 ± 4.7. Unit 3 consists of lower cross-bedded sand and laminated mud with fining-upward successions. It is interpreted as the product of channel deposits in a fluvial environment during a sea-level falling. The OSL ages of Unit 3 range from 50.6 ± 2.9 to 26.1 ± 1.6 ka, belonging to the Weichselian glacial period. The uppermost unit (Unit 4) is composed of homogeneous mud and massive sand with molluscan shell fragments in the modern shelf environment during sea-level highstand. OSL and <SUP>14</SUP>C-AMS ages range from 0.32 ± 0.02 to 11.2 ± 0.1 ka. Consequently, the late Pleistocene-Holocene sedimentary facies in this area consist of marine and non-marine environments, which mainly correspond to sea-level changes.</P>
