Specification of Bacteriophage Isolated Against Clinical Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

        Ahmad Nasser,Reza Azizian,Mohsen Tabasi,Jamil Kheirvari Khezerloo,Fatemah Sadeghpour Heravi,Morovat Taheri Kalani,Norkhoda Sadeghifard,Razieh Amini,Iraj Pakzad,Amin Radmanesh,Farid Azizi Jalilian 질병관리본부 2019 Osong Public Health and Research Persptectives Vol.10 No.1

Objectives: The emergence of resistant bacteria is being increasingly reported around the world, potentially threatening millions of lives. Amongst resistant bacteria, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is the most challenging to treat. This is due to emergent MRSA strains and less effective traditional antibiotic therapies to Staphylococcal infections. The use of bacteriophages (phages) against MRSA is a new, potential alternate therapy. In this study, morphology, genetic and protein structure of lytic phages against MRSA have been analysed. Methods: Isolation of livestock and sewage bacteriophages were performed using 0.4 μm membrane filters. Plaque assays were used to determine phage quantification by double layer agar method. Pure plaques were then amplified for further characterization. Sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and random amplification of polymorphic DNA were run for protein evaluation, and genotyping respectively. Transmission electron microscope was also used to detect the structure and taxonomic classification of phage visually. Results: Head and tail morphology of bacteriophages against MRSA were identified by transmission electron microscopy and assigned to the Siphoviridae family and the Caudovirales order. Conclusion: Bacteriophages are the most abundant microorganism on Earth and coexist with the bacterial population. They can destroy bacterial cells successfully and effectively. They cannot enter mammalian cells which saves the eukaryotic cells from lytic phage activity. In conclusion, phage therapy may have many potential applications in microbiology and human medicine with no side effect on eukaryotic cells.

Examining the Mediating Role of Job Involvement in the Relationship between Job Crafting and Talent Retention

Ahmad Nasser Abuzaid People & Global Business Association 2024 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.29 No.1

Purpose: In the current dynamic and intensely competitive global business landscape, the retention of highly skilled and specialized talent has emerged as a critical challenge. Employee retention is a strategic differentiator for organizational success, given the substantial expenses related to recruitment, the diminishment of know-how and expertise, and the often underestimated impact on performance. This study examined how job involvement acts as a mediator between the connection of job crafting and talent retention within the context of highly skilled employees in five-star hotels based in Jordan. Design/methodology/approach: A group of 419 participants successfully filled out the study survey. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was adopted to test the research hypotheses, and the collected data were subjected to analysis using partial least squares through WarpPLS 8.0 software. Findings: The study's results offer statistical support for the positive influence of both crafting the job and job involvement on talent retention. Additionally, it was discovered that job crafting had been an indicator of increased job involvement. Moreover, the study reveals that the connection between job crafting and talent retention is mediated by job involvement. Research limitations/implications: The study findings carry significant implications for organizations. To effectively enhance talent retention, hotels should promote job crafting practices while fostering a work culture that nurtures job involvement. By embracing such approaches, hotels can form an environment where talented staff sense motivated, involved, and committed, contributing to the hotels' long-term goals achievement and competitive advantage. Originality/value: Recognizing the gaps in existing literature makes the need for further research evident. Scholars highlighted the need for or a greater abundance of empirical evidence pertaining to managing adept human resources. Similarly, scholars emphasized the researchers' criticism of the goodness of theoretical articles on managing talent, particularly the need for empirical research. These studies underscored the necessity of delving deeper into this subject matter and contributing to filling the gaps in the literature. Thus, this study makes a significant contribution to the talent retention field.

A Survey on Iranian EFL Learners` Beliefs on the Role of Rote Memorization in Learning Vocabulary and Its Effect on Vocabulary Achievement

        ( Nasser Rashidi ),( Ahmad Omid ) 범태평양응용언어학회 2011 범태평양응용언어학회지 Vol.15 No.1

The purpose of this study was to investigate the Iranian EFL learners` beliefs on the role of RL in vocabulary learning, and how it could affect their achievement. One-hundred and three students majoring in English (Literature, Translation, and Teaching) at the Departments of Foreign Languages and Linguistics at Roudehen and the Western Branch of Islamic Azad University participated in this study. Two questionnaires (Students and Teachers` questionnaires) with a vocabulary test and a proficiency test (ECCE) were used in this study. Various statistical tests including Descriptive Analysis and Factor Analysis as well as correlation analysis along side with Chi-Square analysis were run to analyze the data. The findings of this study revealed that the learners believe RL is an effective way of learning EFL vocabulary, but not the best way. They see that reviewing well and having structured review is more effective for them to learn more vocabularies. This study also revealed that the relationship between beliefs and strategy use was positive and significant, but the relationship between beliefs and proficiency of the learners, and also the relationship between strategy use and proficiency of the learners were insignificant but there was a slight correlation between the items. The findings also showed that there was no significant association between the variables beliefs and vocabulary test scores.

      • B-COV:Bio-inspired Virtual Interaction for 3D Articulated Robotic Arm for Post-stroke Rehabilitation during Pandemic of COVID-19

Allehaibi, Khalid Hamid Salman,Basori, Ahmad Hoirul,Albaqami, Nasser Nammas International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.2

The Coronavirus or COVID-19 is contagiousness virus that infected almost every single part of the world. This pandemic forced a major country did lockdown and stay at a home policy to reduce virus spread and the number of victims. Interactions between humans and robots form a popular subject of research worldwide. In medical robotics, the primary challenge is to implement natural interactions between robots and human users. Human communication consists of dynamic processes that involve joint attention and attracting each other. Coordinated care involves sharing among agents of behaviours, events, interests, and contexts in the world from time to time. The robotics arm is an expensive and complicated system because robot simulators are widely used instead of for rehabilitation purposes in medicine. Interaction in natural ways is necessary for disabled persons to work with the robot simulator. This article proposes a low-cost rehabilitation system by building an arm gesture tracking system based on a depth camera that can capture and interpret human gestures and use them as interactive commands for a robot simulator to perform specific tasks on the 3D block. The results show that the proposed system can help patients control the rotation and movement of the 3D arm using their hands. The pilot testing with healthy subjects yielded encouraging results. They could synchronize their actions with a 3D robotic arm to perform several repetitive tasks and exerting 19920 J of energy (kg.m2.S-2). The average of consumed energy mentioned before is in medium scale. Therefore, we relate this energy with rehabilitation performance as an initial stage and can be improved further with extra repetitive exercise to speed up the recovery process.
