The postposed thematic subject in the Locative Inversion Construction (LIC) is considered to receive focus interpretation. Regarding the discourse-related properties like focus and topic, Rizzi(1997) argues that an element should move into spec-FocP in C-space in order to receive focus interpretation. This analysis may capture coherent explanation that syntactic configuration is directly related to interpretation. However, this analysis cannot explain how the inverted subject in the LIC receives focus interpretation. Revising Rizzi’s analysis, Jayaseelan (2008) argues that there is a FocP above VP. This analysis may account for some syntactic characteristic of LIC well, but it also has some problems on explaining some properties of LIC. In this respect, I try to explore some syntactic configuration of this construction and argue that FocP is between vP and VP. This analysis enables us to explain some puzzling properties of Locative Inversion and Heavy NP Shift.

Can Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations be read as with a happy ending? The answer will depend on the frame (or frames) you find from the novel. In this essay, I find double frames to set the story in different points of view. One is the frame of illusion and the other is the frame of disillusionment. The frame of illusion shows us how Pip’s anxiety leads his way of life to get into the higher class of status and money only to get Estella’s love, which turns out to be not only blind and in vain but also disgusting in the frame of disillusionment. As the scene of Hamlet discloses that a tragedy becomes a simple comedy without a dramatic faith in the illusion, Pip’s dreams of gentlemanship can be laughed at as snobbery when they are set in the other frame. With these different two frames, the novel may have been waiting for a postmodern reading that may have such a conclusion that ambiguity is its final lesson as in Hilary Schor. But there is more to go. When Pip meets with Estella on the last scene, he can see both the shadow of illusion and the misty background of illusion at once. Now it seems that he is outside the frames and can see the gap of desire between them.
Effect of circular cylinder location on three-dimensional natural convection in a cubical enclosure

This paper presents the results of immersed boundary method-based three-dimension numerical simulations of natural convection in acubical enclosure with an inner circular cylinder at a Prandtl number of 0.7. This simulation spans three decades of Rayleigh number,Ra , from 103 to 106 . The location of the inner circular cylinder is changed vertically along the centerline of the cubical enclosure. This study primarily focuses on the effects of both buoyancy-induced convection and the location of the inner circular cylinder on heattransfer and fluid flow in the cubical enclosure. In the range of Rayleigh numbers considered in this study, the thermal and flow fieldseventually reach steady state, regardless of the location of the inner cylinder. When Ra is 103 , the end wall of the cubical enclosurehas a negligible effect on the thermal and flow fields in the enclosure. However, in the range of 104 ≤ Ra ≤ 106 , the effect of the endwall on heat transfer and fluid flow in the enclosure depends on both the location of the inner cylinder and the Rayleigh number. Detailedanalysis results for the distribution of streamlines, isotherms, and Nusselt numbers are presented in this paper.

Due to industrial advancement and environmental concerns, there is a demand for light-weight materialparts with high-performance characteristics. In order to meet this demand, various studies have beenconducted on developing high-performance castings to achieve composite features by coating only specificparts that require high performance, with dissimilar joining, rather than coating the entire material part. Thisstudy analyzed the possibility of forming a local composite layer on an aluminum alloy through evaporationpattern casting, and the effects of parameters on the aluminum alloy.
허혈-재관류시킨 흰쥐 비복근 내의 Catalase, Glutathione Peroxidase 및 Superoxide Dismutase의 활성도

Increased generation of reactive oxygen species is thought to be a major caus of tissue damage in schemia-reperfusion injury. This study was designed to examine the activities of scavangers of oxygen free radicals, namely, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione (GSH) peroxidase, when revascularization was performed after a long period of ischemic time in 20 surgically amputated rat limbs. The results were as followss: 1. In the experimental group treated with ischemia or ischemia-reperfusion, activities of catalase were about 2 times higher than those in control group, and the activities in the rats administered with SOD after ischemia were about 6 times higher than those in controls. 2. Activities of GSH peroxidase in the experimental groups treated with ischemia were increased significantly, while GSH peroxidase activities in ischemia-reperfusion group were similar to that in controls. SOD-administered group showed higher GSH peroxidase activity than control 3. Activities of SOD was decreased in the experimental groups treated with ischemia or ischemia-reperfusion.
