We developed a real-time three-polarizer spectroscopic ellipsometer based on a new data acquisition algorithm and a general data reduction (the process of extracting the ellipsometric sample parameters from the Fourier coefficients). The data acquisition algorithm measures Fourier coefficients of radiant flux waveform accurately and precisely. The general data reduction is introduced to represent the analytic functions of the standard uncertainties of the ellipsometric sample parameters, and the extracted theoretical values closely agree with the corresponding experimental data. Our approach can be used for optimization of measurement conditions, instrumentation, simulation, standardization, laboratory accreditation, and metrology.

We have applied spectroscopic ellipsometry to investigate high-k dielectric thin films and<br/> correlate their optical properties with fabrication processes, in particular, with high temperature<br/> annealing. The use of high-k dielectrics such as HfO2, Ta2 O5, TiO2 , and ZrO2 as the replacement<br/> for SiO2 as the gate dielectric in CMOS devices has received much attention recently due to its<br/> high dielectric constant. From the characteristics found in the pseudo-dielectric functions or the<br/> Tauc-Lorentz dispersions, the optical properties such as optical band gap, polycrystallization, and<br/> optical density will be discussed.

There are big gaps between William Shakespeare`s Macbeth and Eugene O`Neill`s The Emperor Jones in the time, the space, the style, and the dramatic form. One is a tragedy of character, the other is an expressionistic play. However, these two works have some common elements in their theme and the technique. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the various aspects of "fears" appeared in both works. In Macbeth, the apparitions can be interpreted as the visions from the hero`s fear. More meaningful thing is that these apparitions speak to the hero. But those of the latter mean the rerun, the collective unconscious and the regression of Jones`s or the negro`s past and they don`t speak, and Little Formless Fears mean those which are common for all of us. Both the insistent and loud sound of knocking of the former and the far-off, insistent, quick and loud beat of tom-tom of the latter become a great dramatic device to increase the inner fears of the audience as well as of Macbeth and Jones and to realize artistically the union of physical and psychological. The world of darkness of the former such as the thunder, the lightening, the vision of bloody dagger and Macbeth`s hands bathed in Duncan`s blood and that of the latter such as the Great Forest and the moon light promote the effect of fear. Macbeth and Jones are the victims of tragic irony and achieve their salvation through death. (Wonkwang University)

William Shakespeare’s King Lear shows the perplexity of life like death through such figurative expressions as “a wheel of fire” and “the rack of this tough world.” Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh is a play on Salesman Hickey’s death and deals with the theme of death brought about by the fact that the self-images, which guide the characters’ lives, turn out to be illusions made by themselves. Hickey in The Iceman Cometh is an iceman who invites the peace of death with him, and another iceman who is not coming yet but breathing hard is the bridegroom who is going to die bravely, that is to say, King Lear in King Lear. The aim of this study is to understand love, death, and salvation between father and daughter, husband and wife, and mother and son in King Lear and The Iceman Cometh. Cordellia's real love for her father, King Lear and Lear's devotional love for his daughter, Cordelia, Evelyn's blind love for her husband, Hickey and Hickey's devotional love for his wife, Evelyn, Parritt's excessive love for his mother, Rosa and Rosa's deficient love for her son, Parritt, and the Christian salvation of Cordellia and Hickey as the symbol of saviour, Christ or the Messiah, all of them, ultimately, can come to perfection through their deaths like an actual sacrifice and downfall. Shakespeare and O'Neill present this love, death, and salvation as an important theme in King Lear and The Iceman Cometh. (Wonkwang University)

전자증권제도 도입에 따른 법적 쟁점

The aim of this paper is to clarify the concept of Electronic Securities System and to present an interpretation of their role in the securities markets. The discussion focuses on trading venues related to debt instruments and equities. Geographically, the Korean, Japanese and European markets are the focus of interest. In brief, the primary aim of the paper is to demystify Electronic Securities System. Secondly, the paper analyses general policy issues raised by Electronic Securities System and concludes with an analysis of selected issues related to the possible legal trouble. The main sources available on the subject are reports published by regulators(Korean Securities Depository) or international organizations. As in all fields of the `new economy`, the most up-to-date information sources are publications issued by operators themselves. Moreover, the use of news articles has been deemed appropriate in this context.

무선조종 헬기 영상을 이용한 절취단면의 토사유출인자 산정

최근 무분별한 개발로 인한 산림지역의 훼손으로 토양의 침식이 발생하고 이는 강우와 결부되어 하천 오염 및 하천의 바닥고를 상승시켜 통수능을 저하시키는 원인이 되기도 한다. 이를 위해 국내에서는 환경영향평가 및 재해영향평가를 통하여 토사유출의 정량적 분석을 실시하여 적절한 대책을 수립하도록 하고 있다. 토사유출량 산정 시 고려되는 매개변수 중 본 연구에서는 무선조종헬기 통하여 취득한 영상 정보를 이용하여 절취사면의 사면경사계수(LS) 및 토양피복계수(C)를 영상분석을 이용하여 보다 정확한 값을 산정하였다. Recently, the development project is conducting disaster effect estimation to breed disaster, and cope these disaster beforehand provoking soil erosion and flood. Therefore, it is important to analyze and reduce of these disaster. In this study, it is intended to extract LS and C factors of soil erosion through the digital image. The photogrammetric technique, which employs the Remote Control Helicopter equipped with a non-metric digital camera, was used for the efficient survey and analysis of cutting slopes. As a result, we obtain more objective value of soil erosion factor using digital image.

터치스크린 인터페이스 환경에서 촉각을 활용한 사용자의 피드백 향상

최근 들어 터치스크린의 활용이 급속도로 증가하고 었다. 공간 활용성이리든가, 사용자와의 대화형 프로세스, 사용의 편리성 그라고 소비자의 감성을 자극하는 매력 때문이다. 게다가 터치스크린은 키보드나 마우스처럼 컴퓨터 시스템 본체와 분려된 입력도구를 사용하지 않고 인간의 손을 입력도구로 활용하기 때문에 앞으로 더욱 각광받을 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 매력에도 불구하고 아직까지 터치스크린은 보완할 점이 많다. 인간의 손은 기존의 기계적 입력장치에 비해 시스템과의 대화에서 디지털 신호를 전달하는데 적합하지 않다. 이로 인해 경우에 따라 입 ? 출력과정에서 원활한 소통이 이루어지지 않을 수 있다. 터치스크린의 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해서는 인터페이스를 디자인 할 때 기존의 인터페이스와 다른 차원에서 해석하고 인간공학적인 측면을 반드시 고려해야 한다. 그동안 컴퓨터 시스템은 인간과의 대화 과정에서 사용자의 입력행위가 있을 시 시스템이 사용자에게 전달하는 과정이 인간의 오감과 관련되도록 개발되었다. 이것은 주로 시각적인 측면에서 발전되어 왔는데 아직 촉감을 이용한 방법은 활용 단계에 이르지 못하고 있다. 이에 따라서 본 연구에서는 촉감이 터치스크린 인터페이스에 활용되었을 경우, 피드백에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 실험을 통해 알아보고자 했다. 실험 결과, 촉감을 도입한 인터페이스는 전체 사용자의 피드백에 영향을 주었으며, 특정 사용자 집단에서는 다른 사용자 집단에 비해 차이가 크게 나타났다. With the various advantages such as space effi.cieocy and user-interactive process, convenient use, elements that stimulate consume:r"s sensibility, etc, the use of touch screen devices has been drastically increasing. Touch screen does not need any separate input device such as keyboard or mouse but a hand. Compared to existing mechanical input devices, however, human"s hand is not proper to perform precise input operations, and it might cause some problems in input and output process. Therefore, as for any interface used for touch screen should take aspects related to human engineering into consideration un1ike exiting interface design. The process of delivering an accurate feedback to the user during input has been developed in that it reflects the five senses of human more fully, and especially regarding the sense of sight. Methods using the sense of touch, however, have yet to be developed to the point of utilization. Thus, this study examines the effect of the sense of touch on users" feedback when it is used in a touch screen interface.

『피아노 레슨』: 화해와 통합을 위한 노래

August Wilson explored the heritage and experience of African Americans in his plays. He tried to explain terms of the life which are common to all cultures. He showed the conflict between black and white in American society. African American`s conflict was an internal separation that must be exorcised to clear the way for spiritual reconciliation and integration. To overcome the cause of this conflict, Wilson had all characters to fight against Sutter`s Ghost in the conclusion part in this play. Most characters accomplished their roles faithfully to fight for removing Sutter`s Ghost. Avery, Berniece and Boy Wille tried to expel a ghost in the name of God, ancestor, and integration respectively. As we see in the last scene of this play, Wilson showed the inheritance of African traditional cultures and religious elements all together. These were the lessons of piano, family`s union, and black and white`s union. With these elements, Wilson was to convey hopeful messages which could alter the perfect harmony from the discord faced on black people. According to these aspects, this play can be said a song for reconciliation and integration of black people and white people. (Wonkwang·Jeonbuk University)
