        Two Newly Recorded Species of the Genus Aoroides (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Aoridae) from Korea

        Two aorid amphipods, Aoroides ellipticus Ariyama, 2004 and A. semicurvatus Ariyama, 2004 from shallow waters of South Korea are reported here. Aoroides ellipticus has the characteristic setation of gnathopod 1 and the elliptical shape of basis on pereopod 7, while A. semicurvatus can be easily distinguished from congeners by combined characters of the curved propodus on gnathopod 2 and the absence of marginal spines on outer ramus of uropod 3 in mature males. This paper redescribed these two aorids and provided a key to Korean Aoroides species.

      • Simnon을 이용한 Chua회로의 시뮤레이션

        This paper presents a simulation of Chua's electrical circuit using Simnon program. Chaos signals are nomlinear and extremely sensitive to small changes of parameter variations and initial conditions. The simulation made it possible to identify the reasonable values of parameters and initial conditions of the Chua's circuit for implementing and controlling its chaotic behavier. The simulation results are satisfactory comparing with references and the results would be bridged to chaos control through futher study.

        동종 항만군 분류를 통한 컨테이너항만의 운영효율화 방안에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 경쟁상태에 있는 아시아 14개의 컨테이너 터미널을 항만시설 관련자료(시설, 시설가용성), 경제·사회 지표(인구, 1인당GNP), 항만서비스 관련자료(취항선사수), 그리고 컨테이너처리물동량 등에 의해 5개 항만군으로 분류한다. 분석방법으로는 평가자료가 실제 입력자료를 얼마나 잘 재현해 주는가를 나타내는 기준치인 스트레스값을 제시해 줌으로써 분석의 결과에 대한 적합도(Goodness of Fit)를 알 수 있는 다차원척도법을 이용한다. 5개 동종항만군의 분류를 통하여 부산항을 포함하여 아시아 각 항만들의 현 위치를 보다 세부적으로 파악할 수 있었으며, 동종항만으로 분류된 카오슝 항만과의 벤치마킹을 통해 부산항의 운영 효율성 증대를 위한 시사점을 제시하였다. 동종항만군의 분류 결과 카오슝 및 부산항만군은 다른 지표에 비해 항만기반시설이 부족한 것으로 분석되었다. 앞으로 이 항만군은 시설부문에 지속적인 투자가 이루어져야 할 필요가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 부산항은 낮은 생산성의 원인을 밝혀 해결책을 모색하고. 항만기반시설 중 선석수, 안벽길이, 야드 공간 등을 확장하는 데 투자할 필요가 있는 것으로 나타났다. The Principle objective of this paper is to introduce a systematic approach to identifying similar container ports in Asia. For this, it analyses data on port facilities, port facility availability, port service level total container throughput, and economic index, by using Multidimentional Scaling (MDS) method. Based on the analysis it identifies five groupings of similar container ports in Asia within which Port comparison can be justifiably made, evaluates a present position of five groupings on the basis of factors used to compare container ports in Asia ; and finally proposes policy implications for operation efficiency of Pusan container port in comparison with Kaohsiung Port. The major implication is that both the Kaosuing and the Pusan port have to strengthen port facility to attract more traffic, and particularly, Pusan Port has to reinforce the number of berth, total length of berth. and yard areas.

        A Comparative Analysis of Three Major Transfer Airports in Northeast Asia Focusing on Incheon International Airport Using a Conjoint Analysis

        Due mainly to the privatization and commercialization of airline companies and deregulation of the aviation rules, the demand for air transport has continuously been increasing. Airport authorities state that transfer passengers, who contribute to the large portion of the airports’ profits, are gaining much more importance, particularly in the Northeast Asia region where the air transport industry is very vital. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the competitiveness of IIA (Incheon International Airport) with other major airports located in Northeast Asia in passenger transfers made between Southeast Asia and China to North America using Conjoint Analysis. Results have indicated that airport brand is the most important attribute for the competitiveness of airport, followed by cost, connectivity and duty free shops. In further analysis focusing on brand value of the three airports measured by the use of transfer passengers, it was revealed that IIA needs more effort in developing their brand identity to become the leading transfer hub airport. Based on the results, recommendations for increasing the brand value have also been suggested.

        A Study on selections of strategic type of business in Air-logistics industry clusters

        The main object of this research is to select strategic type of business to build an air-logistics cluster by analyzing the effects and mutual relationship among logistics and its related industries in Incheon. First of all, the scope of airport-logistics and its related industries are classified based on previous studies. A theoretical base is then established to build the logistics clusters for the airport-logistics related industries by classifying into the dependent industry and the relevant industry. Secondly, we suggest the categories of business for the cluster in Incheon: Rail-transportation support service, transportation support service, truck terminal operation service, packing service, the aircraft and its part manufacturing industries and structural steel manufacturing industry. This study is founded its contributions from the suggestion of 1) the logistics-related industry classified into dependent and relevant industry to build theoretical foundation for forming the air-logistics industry cluster and 2) particular selection framework for building air-logistics industry cluster in Incheon.

        A Study on the prospect of Sea & Air multi-transport in the perspective of international logistics environment

        The positive and negative opinion to cargo demand of Incheon's SAMT in the near future remains cloudy. Considering port and shipping environmental changes and the logistics situation of China which explains the lack of facilities in Chinese airports, the creating of SAMT cargoes of the Incheon region could catches a favorable opportunity to be a logistics hub in the North-East Asia. On the other hand, as open-sky policy and direct-call service has been carried out between China and N.A.(North America), Incheon could cause a loss of competitiveness in SAMT because the enhancement in the aspect of the connectivity of Chinese airlines and shipping lines makes customer sent to last destination their cargoes whenever they want. In the same context, this paper analyses on conditions of domestic and international SAMT and proposes in this uncertainty future forecasting of SAMT of Incheon by scenario planning according to changes in integrated SAMT, measuring the likelihood of final scenario. This study shows the Sea & Air multi-transport volume will have either slight increase or decrease from the current condition. Consequently, RFS expansion and system & service improvement through strong ties with major cities in China will be required in a short run aspect. Nonetheless, we also need to take domestic & international transportation environment into account in the long run.
