Suspension system of vehicle is very important part because it acts on ride comport and safety. And the spring is one of major part vehicle. Therefore it has to be designed to operate under severe conditions to ensure enough endurance. In general, the most typical and traditional method for fatigue design methods need many additional fatigue tests according to its geometry, materials, and fatigue loading condition. This indicates that a lot of cost and time for it have to be consumed. In this paper. the ΔP-N_f curve were obtained by fatigue tests. Using these results, ΔP-N_f curves were rearranged in to the Δδ_f relation with the maximum stress. By using the maximum stress and the fatigue data previously obtained as the fatigue test results, the fatigue design criterion could be predicted without any additional fatigue tests.

An eco-friendly polyurethane incorporating a soybean-oil-based polyol was synthesized using a prepolymer method, and the chemical structure, molecular weights, and thermal properties of the polyurethane were characterized using instrumental analysis. The disperse and reactive dyeing properties of the eco-friendly polyurethane incorporating the soybean-oil-based polyol were compared to those of conventional petroleum-based polyurethane.

A condition method of chassis module durability test is improved by consideration of fixed body problem, which is a new technique based on the principle of singularity. As a result of the application of this technique, this paper can solve the problem of inconsistent results with fixed body chassis module durability.

Noise from the hub-bearing of used vehicles is a major item of customer complaint that appears repeatedly despite the numerous countermeasures applied. Improvement has been difficult particularly due to the complexities involving the reproduction of the field conditions in test modes. In this investigation, load conditions around the hub in various field conditions are analyzed, followed by the establishment of the part’s test procedure.

It is important to consider the brake pad wear life in the development of brake system for automobiles, because of reducing customer complaint due to fast wear and designing optimal specifications. So in this paper, the factors related to pad wear are decided 4 categories as vehicle type, brake system type, brake pad properties and driving pattern. As to the factors, wear sensitivity is tested by brake dynamometer as well as the vehicle. In consequence, we analyzed sensitivity of the wear factors and developed the pad wear predicting program by MS Excel VBA. Finally, it is verified from vehicle driving test data as 84~96% of accuracy. As a result the brake pad wear life can be possible to predict reasonably in primary vehicle developing stage, and it helps to improve optimal design and reduce time & cost, too.

Actually, a driving cars are subjected to random loads with variable amplitude in the road. Although it is necessary test method considering random loads with variable amplitude, nearly all tests have been performed under constant load conditions in the laboratory. In this study, the overload factor affecting on the fatigue strength, crack initiation and propagation directions of spot-welded specimens have been studied. Because it is important to analyse and predict crack initiation position and propagation directions on the spot weld area for strength design of automobile body structure.
