        The Study of Thinned Young Apples Fermentation by Manipulating Preparation Treatment and Sugar Content

        This paper investigates the possibility to increase the economic value of the thinned young apple trough fermentation process. It is studies the optimal fermentation condition of thinned young apple by manipulating preparation treatment and sugar content. To do this following steps are done. Firstly, different preparation treatment for thinned young apple such as whole apple, cutting apple, and blending apple were done. The different sugar content such as 24° Brix, 15° Brix and 4° Brix was added. Secondly, the sugar contents and pH level were measured during fermentation process. Finally, statistical analysis was used to examine the relation between the preparation treatment, sugar content and pH level during the fermentation process. The experimental result shows that the different preparation treatment influences to the fermentation process. The blending apple treatment gave lower pH level compared to other kind treatments. The sugar content of thinned young apple was decrease during the fermentation process. The statistical analysis shows that the manipulation preparation treatment and sugar content affect the final pH level and whole fermentation process. Experimental result shows that the thinned young apple fermentation could be proposed as new alternative product in the market. The best fermentation process was obtained from blending thinned young apple treatment with 24° Brix.

        수치해석을 이용한 다겹보온자재의 내부공기층 함유에 따른 보온 특성

        This study investigates thermal insulation properties of multi layer materials depending on thickness of air layers. Numerical analysis on the heat flow of different insulating materials was conducted to identify whether their temperature distributions demonstrate the reduced rate of heat transfer conclusively or not. Analytical model is divided into two categories. One is to distinguish temperature distribution of the air-layer materials from the non-air layer ones. The other is to compare the efficacy between eight-layered insulating materials with no air-layer contained and three-layered insulating materials which include an air-layer definitely. In the latter case, the identical thickness is assigned to each material. The effect of thermal insulation by including an air-layer is verified in the first analytical model. The result of the second model shows that the insulation of the eight-layered materials is coterminous at the three-layered ones with an air-layer and the thermal insulation of the two materials is imperceptible. The benefits of cost and energy saving are anticipated if air-layers are efficiently incorporated in multi layer insulating materials in a greenhouse.

        AE 신호에 의한 연삭가공 표면거칠기 검출

        An in-process extraction method of the ground surface roughness is a bottle-neck and essential field in conventional machining process. We define the D.A.R.F(Dimensionless Average Roughness Factor) that has a roughness characteristic of ground surface. D.A.R.F include the absolute average and the standard deviation values which are the analytic parameters of the AE(Acoustic Emission) signal generated during the grinding operation. The theoretical equation between the surface roughness and the D.A.R.F has been derived from the linear regressive analysis and verified its availability through the experimentation on the surface grinding machine.<br/>

        We teport a patient with spontaneous intracranial hypotension. In addition to the cardinal feature of a postural headache and a low CSF pressure, the patient also had subdural hematoma demonstrated by brain MRI. Radionuclide cisternography revealed a CSF leakage in the intracranium. CSF leakage from spinal meningeal defects may be the most common cause of this syndrome. The headache is a consequence of the low CSF pressure producing displacement of pain-sensitive structures, Methods of treatment are identical to those for post-dural puncture headaches. We experienced a patient with spontaneous intracranial hypotension developed in the intracranium who was successfully managed with a cervical blood patch.

        경막외차단에 의한 무통분만이 응급제왕절개율에 미치는 영향

        N/A Background: There is some concem that the administration of epidural analgesia for pain relief during labor increases the likelihood of cesarean delivery. But, several investigators showed a decrease in the rate of emergency cesarean delivery after epidural analgesia. The purpose of this study was to compare the emergency cesarean rate between the two groups with and without epidural analgesia. Methods: We reviewed retrospectively the medical records for 7846 parturients admitted our hospital between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1996 and whose attending physician anticipated a normal labor and vaginal delivery. The number of parturients with epidural analgesia using 0.25% bupivacaine with fentanyl were 2839 and parturients without epidura1 analgesia were 5017. Results: An administration of epidural analgesia was not associated with the incidence of cesarean rate. 149 (5.25%) of 2839 parturients in epidural group and 371 (7.31%) of 5017 parturients in non- epidural group underwent emergency cesarean section. Conclusions: Our retrospective study has shown that an administration of epidural analgesia neither decrease nor increase in the rate of emergency cesarean delivery when compared with a non-epidural analgesia.

        에너지 절감형 전기 유류 겸용 온풍기 개발

        This study was carried out to evaluate the structural stability of hybrid type fan heater. The evaluation of structural safety of hybrid fan heater was conducted by using Ansys Workbench and CFX-11 under the design condition. The hybrid fan heater was operated by heat transfer for heat source supplied from electric heater and combustion gas. According to result of structural analysis, the maximum equivalent stress of hybrid fan heater was 150㎫ when the temperature of heat transfer fluids was 150℃. It was found that the hybrid fan was structurally safe because the value of maximum equivalent stress was smaller than that of yield stress of the material.

        경부 경막외 Steroid 주입 및 차단술을 받은 환자의 분석

        N/A Background: Lumbar epidural steroid injection for relief of low back pain and sciatica has become a popular procedure. Further, cervical epidural steroid injection with nerve block (CESNB) is known to be effective for the management of acute and chronic pain of neck, shoulder and arm. However, many anesthesiologists are not familiar with CESNB. Method: Charts of 34 patients who had undergone 60 cervical epidural steroid injections over a three year period, 1993 to 1995, were reviewed. We studied the followings. initial visit and de- partment, injected interspaces, personal characteristics, indications for injection and complica- tions. Result: Patients first visits were mainly to orthopaedics(l 1 patients) and neurosurgery(10 patients). Epidural injection sites were C7-Tl interspace(29 patients) and C6-C7 interspace(6 patients). Mean age of patients were 50.1 years, range 21-73 years. There were twenty male and fourteen female patients. Complications varied from dizziness after CESNB(l patient), loss of consciousness with transient apnea(2 patients), and local infection with suspicious meningi- tis(l patient). Conclusion: We conclude from the above data that CESNB is a good, safe and conservative form of therapeutic procedure in the management of patients suffering from cervical radiculopathy, and neck and shoulder pain.

      • 미국 언론의 언어투쟁과 미국 (국제)정치현실의 사회언어적 구성

        What mainstream American media had done from the September 11 in 2001 to the outbreak of the Iraq War in 2003 calls for critical reflection on freedom of speech. For the way they had reported relevant facts and events at that time made it possible for the Bush Adminstration to mobilize the wide support from the American public in spite of the many questions raised both inside and outside the United States regarding the legitimacy of American foreign policy and the ensuing military operations. Freedom of speech can be understood as free expression of bias. The United States has relatively well institutionalized and ensured freedom of speech so that mainstream American media have been able to express their respective biases almost with no constraints. As freedom of speech can be considered the capacity to express their biases freely, the role of media can also be understood in terms of sociolinguistic construction of reality. What media present to us as reality are not an objective reality; rather they are what they interpret as reality based on their own biases. As they are taken as real by those who are exposed to what media deliver, they socially and linguistically constitute reality among them. The process of sociolinguistic construction of reality mainly depends on verbal fighting via representational force. Narrators who represent reality verbally define their Self or subject in the reality that they believe to be real thereby seeking for their ontological security. So rational discussion or persuasion between them is difficult to expect. It is because accepting the reality in which their own beings are not defined as they like can make their own Self or subject insecure. Therefore, verbal fighting, which aims at full submission of others to the reality I represent, is preferred as a more appropriate communicative strategy. The media situation in the early 2000s showed that conservative bias gained ground in the United States through verbal fighting. First of all, President Bush began to describe his foreign policy in highly normative frame in order to justify what he would do; almost every American media, including liberal media, interpreted international political reality following Bush`s frame. The result was nation-wide support for Bush`s foreign policy and the ensuing military operations, while voices of those who represented different reality from more critical viewpoints were unheeded and oppressed through verbal fighting. However, the international political reality widely perceived by many Americans and the foreign policy devised to back the reality in the early 2000s have turned out to be self-destructive as they have brought significant damage to United States` leadership and its material capability. Freedom of speech without self-reflection has some huge negative side effects.

        평균 배기 압력 구배 지수를 이용한 실화 검출

        This paper proposes a method to detect the misfired cylinder using a new misfire detection index. The new method of misfired cylinder is a comparison of pressure gradient during the blowdown period of exhaust stroke. If a misfire occurs, the engine will he lost some power and consumes the more fuel and the torque will be unsteady. Most of all, the misfire affects a bad influence of the 3-way catalyst and emits unburned hydrocarbon in the air. To prevent these unusual phenomena and eliminate the factor of the environmental pollution, it is important to detect the misfired cylinder. To do the experiment, set up the assist device on the manifold. This assist device is not deformed for conventional exhaust manifold and installed in the em of the exhaust manifold. Experimental results showed that the method using the mean gradient pressure index is proven to be effective in the detection of misfired cylinder on gasoline engine regardless loads and revolutions of the engine.<br/> <br/>
