Current Status of COVID-19 Vaccine Development: Focusing on Antigen Design and Clinical Trials on Later Stages

The global outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still threatening human health, economy, and social life worldwide. As a counteraction for this devastating disease, a number of vaccines are being developed with unprecedented speed combined with new technologies. As COVID-19 vaccines are being developed in the absence of a licensed human coronavirus vaccine, there remain further questions regarding the long-term efficacy and safety of the vaccines, as well as immunological mechanisms in depth. This review article discusses the current status of COVID-19 vaccine development, mainly focusing on antigen design, clinical trials in later stages, and immunological considerations for further study.

언론에 보도된 전문가 영화 리뷰에 관한 연구 : 영화 리뷰의 품질과 흥행성과의 관계를 중심으로

This study tried to explore the contents of film critics’ reviews reported in the press. Based on fifty nine Korean movies with over 100,000 audience in 2017, this study collected 1113 reviews from fifty five movies with the exception of four without reviews. This study focused on the correlation between film’s overall quality and four evaluation items such as directing, acting, story, and the visual. Examining the difference in the report timing of the review, the length of the review, and the intensity of the opinion, this study also analyzed the relationship between the internal aspects of reviews and box office performance. According to the results, the valence of critics’ reviews was generally positive. Looking at the difference of reporting time, this valence was higher in the week before release than in the release week of film. The evaluation items of reviews were highly covered both before movie release and in the opening week. These were significantly declined in the second week of release. In the relationship between the number of reviews by each movie and box office performance, a positive correlation was found.

삼자연합(Tripartisme) 시기 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론 -국제 정세 인식과 반독점자본론을 중심으로-

The purpose of the study is to rethink the French Communist Party(Parti Communiste Française: PCF)’s position on French colonialism in the era of Tripartisme after the Second World War. The postwar years witnessed the explosion of anti-colonialist movements in the French colonial world, but the PCF opposed their immediate independence and called for staying within the boundary of the French Union. Previous studies have generally linked the PCF’s position to their status as a major party of the French Provisional Government and the Fourth Republic responsible for securing the national interests. By analyzing the PCF’s central organs, Les Cahiers du Communisme and L’Humanité, this study argues that the PCF’s support of French unionism between metropolitan France and their colonies was based on their perceptions of the international situations and their Marxist-Leninist theory on monopoly capitalism. The PCF noticed the revival of anti-communism and imperialism in the Anglo-Saxon world after WWII and found such trends as a significant threat to democracy and self-determination in world politics. Along with their assessment of the international realities, the PCF’s economic theory of global monopoly capitalists, namely trusts, served as another critical pillar for French Unionism. In the eyes of the PCF, immediate independence of the French colonies would only exacerbate economic exploitation by trusts; therefore, metropolitan France and their overseas territories should unite against monopolistic capitalists. This study demonstrates the importance of the context of international politics and the ideology to get a better understanding of the PCF’s French unionism with colonies. 본 연구는 제2차 세계대전 이후 삼자연합 시기 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론에 대한 재고다. 전쟁 이후 프랑스 식민지들에서는 독립을 요구하는 목소리가 빗발쳤지만, 프랑스 공산당은 식민지 분리에 반대하며 프랑스 연합을 유지할 것을 주장했다. 본고는 프랑스 공산당 중앙 기관지 레 까이에 뒤 꼬뮈니즘(Les Cahiers du Communisme)과 뤼마니떼(L’Humanité)의 분석을 통해 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론이 그들의 국제 정세 인식과 마르크스-레닌주의 반독점자본론에 근거했다고주장한다. 프랑스 공산당은 당시 국제 정세를 앵글로색슨 반공주의와 제국주의 부활이라는 맥락에서 바라보았고, 이는 그들의 식민지 유지 주장에 주요 근거가 되었다. 이러한 현실 정세 인식과 더불어 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론에는 초국가적 거대 독점기업인 트러스트 세력의 위협에 대한 경계가 자리 잡고 있었다. 프랑스 공산당의 시각에서, 즉각적인 식민지 독립은 트러스트에 의한 경제 착취를 심화시킬 뿐이었고, 이를 막기 위해 프랑스 본국과 식민지가 연합해야 하는 것이었다. 본 연구는 프랑스 공산당의 식민지 연합론을 국내적 요인으로 설명하는 기존 연구의 흐름과 달리 국제 정치적 맥락과 이데올로기의 중요성을 시사한다.

Newly Emerging Human Coronaviruses: Animal Models and Vaccine Research for SARS, MERS, and COVID-19

The recent emergence of the novel coronavirus (CoV) or severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) poses a global threat to human health and economy. As of June 26, 2020, over 9.4 million cases of infection, including 482,730 deaths, had been confirmed across 216 countries. To combat a devastating virus pandemic, numerous studies on vaccine development are urgently being accelerated. In this review article, we take a brief look at the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 in comparison to SARS and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)-CoVs and discuss recent approaches to coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccine development.

Patients in the Holter electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring test period should keep the sensors and ECG machine on their body. However, according to the various activities, it is easy for sensors to be detached or moved from the appropriate position on the body, which can result in errors. Conventional Holter can detect these errors after patients return the ECG machine with sensors. If large portion of ECG signals is recorded with the errors, the re-test is required which is a time consuming and inefficient task. Therefore, this paper presents the method to detect the error during the test by the ECG machine and transfer the notirifaction to patients if the errors occur to make them re-locate or re-attach the sensors. To evaluate the proposed method, the arduino-based Holter ECG monitoring test is configured and notification system using the Android smartphone is implemented.

Advanced Bounding Box Prediction With Multiple Probability Map

In this paper, we propose a bounding box prediction algorithm using multiple probability maps to improve object detection result of object detector. Although the performance of object detectors has been significantly improved, it is still not perfect due to technical problems and lack of learning data. Therefore, we use the result correction method to obtain more accurate object detection results. In the proposed algorithm, the preprocessed bounding box created as a result of object detection by the object detector is clustered in various form, and a conditional probability is given to each cluster to make multiple probability map. Finally, multiple probability map create new bounding box of object using morphological elements. Experiment results show that the newly predicted bounding box reduces the error in ground truth more than 45% on average compared to the previous bounding box.

한국 영화시장 내 애니메이션영화의 흥행결정 요인 분석: 2011~2015년 개봉작품을 중심으로

This study examines the factors that affect animation movies’ box office revenues. Using a sample of 312 animation movies released from 2011 to 2015 released in the Korean market, it employs such independent variables as film ratings, nationality, sequels, release time, power of distributors, the number of screens, online reviews, and critics' reviews. Unlike previous studies, this study divides sequels into two groups (sequels based on previous films or television programs and sequels based on writeen materials including comics, books, graphic novels) in order to recognize and compare the difference of sequel groups. The present study discoveres that the number of netizen reviewers, the number of screens, Holllywood animations, sequels based on previous films or television programs are significant for the total domestic box office revenues. Like the findings from previous studies, this study found that both the number of netizen reviewers and the number of screens positively affect box office results. This study also provides a new finding that both Holllywood animations and sequels based on previous films or television programs are positively related to the box office performance. 이 연구는 한국에서 개봉된 애니메이션 영화의 흥행성과에 영향을 끼친 요인들을 고찰하고자 한다. 분석대상은 2011년부터 2015년까지 한국에서 개봉된 총 312편의 애니메이션 영화이다. 종속변수인 전국 관객수에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인 지 고찰하기 위해 독립변인은 영화의 국적, 등급, 속편형태, 배급사 파워, 개봉스크린 규모, 개봉시점, 그리고 전문가 평가와 네티즌의 온라인 평가로 설정되었다. 이 연구는 선행 연구들이 간과한 속편 형태를 분류하여 인쇄물에 근거한 형태와 영상물에 근거한 형태로 세분화하여 흥행성과와의 관계를 보다 구체적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과에서 네티즌의 온라인 평가 참여빈도, 개봉스크린 규모, 미국 국적의 애니메이션 영화, 그리고 영상물에 근거한 속편 형태가 애니메이션 영화의 흥행성과에 미치는 영향력이 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 유의미한 관계성을 보인 네 개의 요인 중 온라인 평가 참여빈도와 개봉스크린 규모는 선행 연구의 분석 결과와 일치하였다. 하지만 미국 국적의 애니메이션과 영상물에 근거한 속편 형태는 흥행성과에 영향을 미치는 새로운 요인들로 나타났다.

한국 영화시장 내 일본 애니메이션의 흥행성과에 미치는 영향 ‒2012~2021년 개봉작품을 중심으로‒

Dealing with Japan animation movies released in the Korean film market between 2012 and 2021, this paper examines the box office performance of those movies. A dependent variable is the number of audiences. Based on the three stages of production, distribution, and evaluation, independent variables include nine factors such as rating, sequel, number of opening screen, distributor power, opening time, expert evaluation, and online reviews written by ordinary people. The the average of number of audiences in Korea was about 82,000, and the average number of opening screens was about 156. The results show that box office performance was related to five factors such as online rating, the volume of online reviews, the volume of critics’ reviews, the number of opening screens, and winter season. This study also find several difference after subdividing the rating and screen size. As a result of subdividing screen size, different factors such as summer season, netizen ratings, and publisher power were found to be related to box office performance. For film rating, the influence of online ratings was found in the case of all viweing, but there was a difference in the other seasons in the case of non-whole audience ratings. It can be said that this study suggests a different box office performance model from previous studies on the Korean animation film market. 이 연구는 한국 영화시장 내 일본 애니메이션 작품의 흥행성과 결정요인을 확인하고자 했다. 분석은 2012년부터 2021년까지 10년 동안 한국 영화시장에서 개봉된 일본 애니메이션 작품으로 총 328편을 대상으로 진행했다. 흥행성과는 관객수를 기준으로 설정했으며, 흥행성과에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 변인의 경우 제작, 배급, 평가의 세 단계를 바탕으로 등급, 속편형태, 개봉스크린 규모, 배급사 파워, 개봉시점, 네티즌 및 전문가 평가 등의 9개로 구성했다. 분석결과 한국 영화시장 내 일본 애니메이션 작품의 평균 관객수는 약 8만 2천 명이었으며, 평균 개봉스크린 규모는 약 156개였다. 흥행성과 결정요인을 확인한 결과에서는 전체 애니메이션을 기준으로 했을 때는 네티즌 평가 빈도, 개봉스크린 규모, 전문가 평가 빈도, 네티즌 평점, 겨울 시즌 등의 다섯 가지가 검증되었다. 하지만 기준을 세분화하여 검증한 결과 여러 차이점을 발견할 수 있었다. 스크린 규모에 따라 여름 시즌, 네티즌 평점, 배급사 파워와 같은 서로 다른 요인이 확인되었다. 또한 등급에 있어서도 전체관람가 등급에서는 네티즌 평점의 영향력이 발견됐으나, 비전체관람가의 경우 기타 시즌이 확인되는 차이가 존재했다. 이 연구 결과는 한국의 영화시장 및 애니메이션 장르에 대한 선행연구와는 상이한 흥행성과 모델이 확인된 것으로, 일본 애니메이션 영화의 고유한 특성에 따른 흥행성과 결정요인의 차이를 확인한 것으로 볼 수 있다.

YOLOv7와 OpenPose를 활용한 개인 맞춤형 피트니스 운동 자세 지도 모델 설계

COVID-19 발병 및 확산으로 인해 신체 활동이 감소하고 피로와 무기력함을 호소하는 사람들이 증가하였다. 이에 따라 많은 사람들이 건강에 대한 관심 증가로 건강 증진과 면역력 강화를 위해 운동을 택하고 있으며, 이를 위해 홈 트레이닝 애플리케이션을 활용하고 있지만 자세 지도의 부재로 인해 잘못된 운동 자세로 인한 근골격계 부상과 근육의 불균형과 같은 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 이러한 문제를 예방하고 해소하기 위해 본 논문에서는 운동하는 사람의 객체 검출과 관절 추정을 통해 정확한 운동 자세 분류하고 평가하여 지도하는 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 웹 캠으로부터 수집된 영상 프레임을 YOLOv7(You Only Look Once version 7) 모델의 입력 데이터로 사용하여 사람 객체를 검출하고, 관절 추정의 정확도를 높이기 위해 전경 추출을 이용하여 배경을 제거한 객체를 추출한다. 추출된 사람 객체 이미지를 OpenPose 의 입력 데이터로 사용하여 관절 좌표를 추출하고, 이 좌표를 이용하여 정확한 피트니스 운동 자세에 대해 평가하고, 분류기의 입력 데이터로 사용하여 3 대 운동인 벤치프레스, 스쿼트, 데드리프트의 종류를 분류한다. 본 논문의 모델을 통해 피트니스 운동을 하는 사람의 관절 동작을 자동으로 인식하여, 정확한 운동 자세를 취하지 않은 경우를 감지하고 교정하는 데 적용될 수 있을 것이다. 이를 통해, 근골격계 부상 예방과 근육의 불균형의 문제를 해소하는 데 큰 도움이 될 것으로 예상한다. 또한 피트니스 트레이닝 분야뿐만 아니라 의료 분야에서도 활용될 있을 것이라 기대한다.
