        Effect of Motion Taping in a Rehabilitation Exercise Program on Quadricep Muscle Activity and WOMAC (Pain, Stiffness, Physical Function) in Elderly People with Knee Osteoarthritis

        Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effects of motion taping on muscle activity and the WOMAC in a rehabilitation exercise program for elderly women with knee joint osteoarthritis. Methods: The subjects were 28 elderly women aged over 65 years with knee joint osteoarthritis. The subjects were divided into two groups: one experimental and one control group. During the study period, a total of 26 patients completed the experiment, with one drop each from the experimental group and control group. The experimental group applied motion taping and conducted a rehabilitation exercise program. The control group experienced a rehabilitation exercise program without motion taping. The rehabilitation exercise program consisted of warm-up exercises, maximum isometric exercises, the range of motion of the joints, and leg stretching exercises. The intervention was conducted three times a week for six weeks. To investigate the effects of the intervention, muscle activity and the WOMAC were measured. The WOMAC is a tool that can be used to evaluate the pain, stiffness, and physical function of osteoarthritis patients; it has 29 items in three areas. Results: The change in muscle activity according to the intervention showed a statistically significant increase in both the experimental group and control group. The WOMAC also showed statistically significant changes in terms of pain, stiffness, and physical function in both the experimental and control groups. The experimental group showed a greater functional improvement than the control group. Conclusion: For older women with osteoarthritis of the knee, a rehabilitation exercise program is a good intervention. When motion-taping is applied, it is considered to be an intervention program that can be expected to have a better effect on knee joint osteoarthritis.

        번역과 국어 : 개념사적 고찰

        This study aims to describe and analyze historical changes in Korean language experienced by the concepts of translation and national language intertwining under the influence of the Japanese ideology of national language during the Japanese colonization. For this purpose we decided to examine the terms as ‘Beonyeok’, ‘Gukeo’ and ‘Gukyeok’ in the corpus constituted by various dictionaries of Korean language from the beginning, newspapers and historical documents of Korea in comparaision with Japanese counterparts. In fact, the concept of translation colored by the nationalism and the existence of a special word for translation in one’s own language are the shared characteristics of the notion of translation in Korea and Japan. During our research, we have arrived to find that the concept of a national language as the common noun, that is to say the language of a country or a nation is absorbed by the Korean word 'Beonyeok' while the concept of our own language or Korean language as a proper noun has been embodied by the Korean word 'Gukyeok' but that the ideology of national language is going to be removed from the translation concept in Korean since the 1990s. This is globalization and multiculturalism affecting nowadays the Korean society which enhanced this change to an opening on the other in the conceptualization of translation.

        포도와 오이즙액을 이용한 동충하초(Paecilomyces japonica) 균사체 배양액의 미백효과

        포도와 오이즙액에 동충하초 균사체 배양액의 미백화장품 원료로서의 이용가능성을 조사하였다. B16BL6 mouse melanoma cell에 동충하초 균사체 배양액을 배양기간 및 농도별로 처리했을 때, 15일 동안의 배양조건과 $50\;{\mu}l/ml$ (5%)의 농도로 처리하였을 때 멜라닌 생성억제 효과가 가장 높은 것을 확인하였다. In vitro tyrosinase 활성억제효과에서는 포도와 오이즙액에 동충하초 균사체 배양액을 10% 농도로 첨가시 50%의 멜라닌 생성 억제율을 보였으며, 30% 농도에서는 100% 억제를 확인하였다. 결과적으로 포도와 오이즙액에 동충하초 균사체 배양액은 멜라닌 생성의 주 효소인 tyrosinase의 작용을 억제함으로써 미백 효과를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 세포독성실험에서 포도, 오이즙액과 그 즙액에 동충하초 균사체 배양액을 각각의 농도로 B16BL6 mouse melanoma cell에 처리 한 결과 포도, 오이즙액의 5% 처리 시에는 50% 사멸, 9% 이상에서는 100% 세포가 사멸하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 그러나 포도, 오이즙액에 동충하초 균사체를 배양한 배양액은 20% 까지 처리 시에도 세포독성이 나타나지 않는 것을 확인 하였다. 따라서 포도와 오이즙액에 동충하초 균사체를 배양한 배양액은 세포 독성이 없으며, 미백 효과가 뛰어난 것으로 미백화장품 원료로서 사용가능함을 확인하였다. This study was carried out to investigate the whitening effect of mycelial culture broth of P. japonica in the mixture of cucumber and grape extracts. In the inhibition test of melanin biosynthesis of melanoma cell, B16BL6, the culture broth of P. japonica more then $50\;{\mu}l/ml$ (5%) concentration inhibited the melanin biosynthesis of the cell entirely without cytotoxicity. More then 10 days incubation of P. japonica in the mixture was required to have the inhibition activity. In vitro inhibition test of melanin biosynthesis of the culture broth of P. japonica was investigated in the concentration dependent manner of 10% to 50%. 30% concentration of the culture broth inhibited completely tyrosinase activity. In the cytotoxicity test, cucumber and grape extract itself has a strong cytotoxicity to the melanoma cell, B16Bl6. The value of $IC_{50}$ of the cucumber and grape extracts against the melanoma cells was 5% concentration. However, the culture broth of P. japonica incubated in the cucumber and grape extracts did not show the cytotoxcity up to 20% against melanoma cell, B16BL6. Therefore, we concluded that the culture broth of P. japonica in the mixture of cucumber and grape extracts can be used as a whitening cosmetic resource.

      • Recognition of Internal Restriction Sites in DNAs Cloned into M13 Vectors

        DNA fragments cloned in opposite orientations into M13 vectors were allowed to associate, generating partially hybridized structures containing both double-stranded insert DNA and single-stranded vector DNA. When these structure ("Figure 8 DNA") were treated with restriction enzymes, HaeIII, HinfI, or Sau3AI, the insert DNA was cleaved preferentially to yield double-stranded fragments and single-stranded vector DNA. The action of Sau3AI was examined in detail; the results indicate that neither relaxation nor nonspecific cleavage of the "Figure" DNA was rate-limiting in the reaction. The BamHI site in the associated polylinker sequence of "Figure 8" DNA was cleaved by Sau3AI but not BamHI, suggesting that DNA structure mediated enzyme action at this site. Double-stranded fragments derived by this procedure from the insert region were used to prime dideoxy sequencing reactions in the clones from which they were derived. A sequencing scheme for long DNAs cloned into single-stranded vectors is proposed. M13 벡타에 반대방향으로 클로닝된 DNA 절편이 서로 결합한 이중가닥 DNA와 단일가닥 벡타 DNA를 포함하고 있는 부분적으로 혼성체화 된 구조를 형성하게 하였다. 이 혼성체 구조를 제한효소 HaeIII, HinfI 또는 Sau3AI으로 처리하였을 때 삽입된 DNA가 선택적으로 절단되어 이중가닥 DNA 절편과 단일가닥 벡타 DNA가 생성되었다. 이 중 Sau3AI의 작용을 자세히 조사하였다. 그 결과 이 반응에서 8자형 DNA의 이완작용이나 비선택적 절단이 속도결정단계가 아니라는 것을 밝혔다. 8자형 DNA에서 결합된 다중연결자에 존재하는 BamHI 자리는 Sau3AI에 의하여 절단되지만 BamHI에 의해서는 절단되지 않는다. 이 사실은 이 자리에서의 DNA 구조가 효소작용에 영향을 미친다는 것을 보여준다. 삽입된 DNA로부터 유도된 이중가닥 DNA 절편을 이 방법으로 얻어 디데옥시 염기결합 순서 결정법의 시발물질로 사용하였다. 이를 이용하여 단일가닥 벡타에 클로닝된 긴 DNA의 염기결합 순서를 결정하는 방법을 제안하였다.
