The velocity vectors and kinetic energy of laminar steady flows in the exit region connected to the square-sectional 1800 curved duct investigated experimental by PIV measurements.<br/> The experimental study for air flows was conducted to measure velocity vectors and kinetic energy distributions by using the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system with the data acquisition of cactus'2000 software.<br/> The results obtained from experimental studies arc summarized as follows :<br/> (1) The Velocity vector distributions in the entrance region was influenced by centrifugal force of the curved duct as the flow develops to downstream in the exit duct<br/> (2) The maximum kinetic energy of laminar steady flow was gradually increased as the Reynolds number (Re) increased.<br/> (3) The entrance length is correlated as ??=0.026 in developing laminar steady flows. The entrance length is a function of hydraulic diameter (D_h)and Reynolds number(Re).

This study was performed to investigate the response of the uterine mechanoreceptors to von Frey hair and to algesic substance, bradykinin for differentiating them from the polymodal nociceptor. Also, the changes of the response of uterine afferents to bradykinin were compared to that of uterine contractors(bethanechol or oxytocin) and uterine muscle relaxant(ritodrine). The response were recorded from 35 single uterine afferents in the hypogastric nerve of alpha-chloralose anesthetized cats. The results are as follows : 1. 35 uterine afferents recorded in experiments were composed of 8 A-delta fibers and 27C fibers. 2. The response to von Frey hair were'observed in 33 uterine afferents. The higher the stimuli was applied, the larger the magnitude of response was revealed, which means the uterine mechanoreceptors have graded response. And the patterns of response to the von Frey hair stimuli that were applied as pressure-and-hold style were divided into two, one was slowly adapting response and the other was slowly adapting but has ongoing even increasing activities after the cease of stimuli like C mechanoreceptors in skin. 3. There were 6 uterine afferents that were excited by the stretch stimuli from inside of uterine lumen that were applied with the distension of intrauterine balloon. 4. To differentiate pure mechanoreceptor from the uterine polymodal nociceptors, bradykinin(5㎍) was injected and there were 18 uterine afferents that had increased neural activities with severe uterine contraction simultaneously. Among them 12 uterine afferents showed same response to the injected oxytocic agent e.g. bethanechol(4㎍) or oxytocin(0.001 lU), but the uterine contraction preceded the neural activities In time relation. 5. The ritodrine effects were observed in the 18 uterine afferents that showed responses to bradykinin. During the systemic infusion of ritodrine(1.5mg/l5min rate) for 1 hour, the magnitude of bradykinin response was decreased or even disappeared in the bradykinin-bethanechol(B-B) sensitive group but the effects on the bradykinin-only(B-O) sensitive group were not significantly changed. To summarize the above results, it could suggest that the slowly adapting mechanoreceptors in the uterus might have the similar response pattern to C mechanoreceptor in skin. And from the viewpoint that the response of B-B sensitive unit to bradykinin were decreased by ritodrine infusion, it strongly suggests that the characteristics of the mechanoreceptors in the uterus is not polymodal but pure.

For manufacturing the small-type incinerator with collecting performance of high efficiency, the experimental study was carried out with considering cyclone characteristics, tangential velocity, radial velocity and pressure of the internal cyclone. The model cyclone consisted of slick acryl was made for similarity and data of tangential inflow velocity were acquired by using a vinyl particle as a working fluid. The results obtained from the experimentation are summarized as follows : 1. Tangential velocity of internal cyclone increases as the size of particle become bigger 2. Pressure is maximum value at the wall of cyclone and decreases toward the center of cyclone. 3. The difference of pressure between maximum and minimum value is increased as the size of particle become bigger.
