This paper describes experimental study on GM-type pulse tube refrigerator(PTR). A PTR has no moving part in its cold part and thus, it has advantages of simple configuration, low vibration and high reliability. It generates refrigeration effect by gas expansion work inside pulse tube in which gas displacer roles sold displacer of GM cryocooler. The pulse tube is only filled with working gas and there exists natural convection due to large temperature difference between cold-end and warm-end. The stability of secondary flow is affected by orientation of cold-head and thus, cooling performance is deteriorated by gas mixing due to secondary flow. In this study, a single stage orifice type pulse tube is fabricated and tested. The cooling performance of the fabricated PTR is measured as varying cold-head orientation angle. The screen mesh is installed inside pulse tube to suppress the performance degradation due to secondary flow inside pulse tube. From experimental results with several size of screen mesh, fine mesh shows the effective suppression of performance degradation for the large orientation angle, but the degradation of cooling performance for the small orientation angle.

This paper describes experimental measurements of generating efficiency of Stirling engine for domestic small-scale CHP(Combined Heat and Power) system. In experiments, 1 ㎾ class free piston Stirling engine (FPSE) was fabricated and tested. A heat is supplied to hot end of engine by the combustion of natural gas and converted to electric power by linear alternator which is assembled with power piston. The electric parameters such as voltage, current and phase are measured for variable flow rate of fuel gas. Especially, generating efficiency of FPSE is measured with three different measurement methods. From experimental results, a FPSE shows the increase of generating efficiency as increasing fuel gas flow rate and, over 20 % of efficiency for the case of 1 ㎾ electric power generation.

This paper describes the development of gamma-type Stirling engine with dual-opposed linear alternators for domestic micro-CHP(Combined Heat and Power) system. The developed Stirling engine has one displacer and two power piston which are supported by flexure springs. Two power pistons oscillate with symmetric sinusoidal displacement and are connected with moving magnet type linear alternators for power generation from PV work. To operate Stirling engine, combustion heat of natural gas is supplied to hot-end and heat is rejected from cold-end by cooling water. In performance tests of Stirling engine, several parameters of pressure, temperature, displacement and power are measured to analyze thermal, dynamic, electric characteristics of Stirling engine. From performance tests, the developed Stirling engine shows 920 W of electric power generation at its normal operation condition.

LNG 극저온기계기술 시험인증센터에 구축되는 LNG 선박용 펌프 및 압축기 성능시험에서 발생하는 증발가스는 안전을 위하여 전량 회수가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 36 MTD 용량의 천연가스 재액화 시스템에 대한 기본 설계 연구를 수행하였다. 대기압, $-60^{\circ}C$, 일반적인 도시가스 조성비, 1,500 kg/hr 유량의 공급 가스를 기본 설계 조건으로 하여 공정 설계가 이루어졌고, 입구 온도 조건 및 가스 조성비에 따른 LNG 생산량 또한 계산하여 다양한 입구 설계 조건에 따른 시스템의 성능 변화를 비교, 분석하였다. 공정 설계 외에도 재액화 시스템의 핵심 기기인 송풍기, 압축기, 극저온 열교환기, 컴팬더의 제작 사양이 도출되었으며, 전력 및 냉각수의 유틸리티 요구조건 또한 기본 설계를 통해 도출되었다. In this paper, we carried out the basic design of 36 MTD natural gas BOG re-liquefaction system to recover the generated natural gas during performance test of LNG pump and natural gas compressor. The re-liquefaction process of natural gas is designed to have 1500 kg/h of liquefaction rate with reverse Brayton refrigeration cycle. With the designed process, the variation of liquefaction rate is calculated for various inlet conditions of feed gas. From results, the liquefaction rate is more sensitive for inlet temperature than gas composition. The specifications of equipments such as gas blower, natural gas compressor, cryogenic heat exchanger and nitrogen compander are determined on the basis of the designed process. The requirement of power consumption and cooling water are also determined through the basic design.

A Stirling cryocooler is relatively compact, reliable, commercially available, and uses helium as a working fluid. Over the past decade and a half there has been rapid development of Stirling cryocoolers, mainly for military and space applications. Stirling cryocoolers have been widely used for the cooling of infrared sensors and high temperature superconducting filters to the temperature of the liquid nitrogen. The Stirling cryocooler with the rotary compressor is applicable to the cooling device for the compact mobile thermal imaging system, because the refrigerators have the compact structure and light weight. This paper presents design and operating process of the integral Stirling cryocooler and results obtained with the performance test for integral Stirling cryocooler. An experimental study will be carried out to develop the more efficient and reliable integral Stirling cryocooler.

Stirling cryocoolers have been widely used for the cooling of infrared sensors and high temperature superconducting filters to the temperature of the liquid nitrogen. The Stirling cryocooler with the rotary compressor is applicable to the cooling device for the compact mobile thermal imaging system, because the refrigerators have the compact structure and light weight. In this paper, integral Stirling cryocooler is designed, manufactured and fabricated, and performance characteristics are investigated. This cooler delivers approximately 0.6W cooling at 80K for 21W of input power from 24V DC power supply.
회전압축기형 스털링 냉동기의 열환경 성능시험에 관한 연구

This paper presents the results of a series of performance tests for the integral Stirling cryocooler. Infrared sensor systems incorporating cryocoolers are required to be qualified to the appropriate environmental specification. Integral Stirling cryocooler for thermal imaging system have matured to the stage of undergoing formal qualification test program. The thermal environmental test of the Stirling cryocooler is presented in this paper. We performed that low and high temperature keeping test from -40℃ to +71℃ and operating test at high and low temperature cyclic range with acceptance tests performed at scheduled intervals. Cooldown time to 80K and steady state input power at 80K were determined as a function of cooler components temperatures at the compressor, hot end and cold tip. Tests performed on this cooler have been successful with a measured cooldown time to 80K of less than 5 minutes 24seconds for 71℃ ambient temperature with input power of 11W.
