Organopalladium(II) Complexes as Ionophores for Thiocyanate Ion-Selective Electrodes

A thiocyanate poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane electrode based on [1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane]dihalopalladium(II), [(dppe)PdX2, X = Cl (L1), X = I (L2)] as active sensor has been developed. The diiodopalladium complex, [(dppe)PdI2](L2) displays an anti-Hofmeister selectivity sequence: SCN‒ > I‒ > ClO4‒ > Sal‒ > Br‒ > NO2- >HPO4‒ > AcO‒ > NO3‒ > H2PO4 ‒ > CO3 2‒. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response (-59.8 mV/decade) over a wide linear concentration range of thiocyanate (1.0 × 10-1 to 5.0 × 10-6 M), low detection limit (1.1 × 10-6 M), fast response(t90% = 24 s), and applicability over a wide pH range (3.5∼11). Addition of anionic sites, potassium tetrakis[p-chlorophenyl] borate (KTpClPB) is shown to improve potentiometric anion selectivity, suggesting that the palladium complex may operate as a partially charged carrier-type ionophore within the polymer membrane phase. The reaction mechanism is discussed with respect to UV-Vis and IR spectroscopy. Application of the electrode to the potentiometric titration of thiocyanate ion with silver nitrate is reported.

바닥 진동을 통한 노인 낙상 검출

According to survey, more than 57.2% of the fall which is the most frequent safety accident of the elders takes place at home. This research aims to verify the fall by measuring and analyzing the floor vibration. And the vibration sensor module was designed with piezo film sensor and operation amplifier. The vibration signals are converted to digital signals through the data acquisition device and vibration sensor module. And then modified the signals into frequency domain to obtain characteristic vibration data. The characteristic signals are verified by K-Nearest Neighbor verification, and experimental results shows the recognition rate 93.6%. Also the fall detection sensor module is useful for extract the meaningful data for fall detection. 10 persons are participated for this experiment. 노인의 생활안전 사고 유형 중 가장 높은 비율을 차지하는 낙상은 57.2%이상이 가정에서 발생하는 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구에서는 실내 바닥의 진동을 측정, 분석하여 낙상의 유무를 판별하고자 하였으며, 이를 위해 압전필름과 연산증폭기로 증폭 및 필터링 회로를 제작하여 진동 센서 모듈을 구성하였다. 진동 센서 모듈에서 증폭 및 필터링 과정을 거친 진동 신호는 데이터 수집 장치를 통해 디지털 신호로 변환되어 PC로 전송된다. 진동 신호는 k-NN 분류기를 이용하여 낙상 유무를 판별한다. 피험자 10명을 대상으로 낙상 실험결과, 분류기는 93.6%의 인식율을 나타내었다. 제작된 센서 모듈은 낙상 검출에 유용한 것으로 판단된다.

노인의 낙상 검출 시스템에 관한 연구

노인의 생활안전 사고 유형 중 가장 높은 비율을 차지하는 낙상은 50% 이상이 가정에서 발생하는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 만 65세 이상 노인의 67.1%는 자녀와 동거를 희망하지 않으며 점점 더 독거노인의 비율은 늘어나, 낙상으로 인한 사고의 발생률은 더 높아질 것이다. 본 연구에서는 실내 바닥의 진동을 측정, 분석하여 낙상의 유무를 판별하고자 하였으며 이를 위해 피에조 필름 센서와 Op-Amp, DAQ를 이용하여 하드웨어를 구성하였다. 여기서 제안한 시스템은 바닥 진동을 측정할 수 있는 신호 처리부, 낙상 발생 시 사용자의 의식 확인을 위한 경보부로 구성하였다. 진동 신호는 k-NN분류기를 이용하여 낙상 유무를 판별한다. 실험결과, 분류기는 3.8%의 오차를 나타내어, 진동을 이용한 낙상 검출 가능성을 보여주고 있다. According to a survey, more than 50% of the elders fall which is the most frequent daily safety accident of the elders takes place at home. Furthermore, the elders fall is anticipated to increase as more elderly people are expected to live alone since, 67.1% of the elders of 65 or more do not hope to live with their children. This research aims to verify the fall by measuring and analyzing the floor vibration, and the hardware system was also designed was Piezo Film Sensor, Op-Amp, and DAQ. The system is consists of signal processing part for measuring floor vibration and alarm part for identifying the consciousness of the user when the fall occurs. The fall detection by vibration signals verified by k-Nearest Neighbor verification, and the results showed the error rate of 3.8%.

시스템 사서(Systems Librarian)의 역할 분석을 통한 미국의 도서관 정보기술 동향 연구 - 2006년부터 2010년까지의 채용공고 분석을 중심으로 -

1997년 Lavagnino가 도서관 발전에 기여한 정보 기술동향을 4단계로 구분하면서 의문으로 남겨두었던 마지막 다섯 번째 단계는 웹에 관련된 기술, 오픈소스 어플리케이션, 정보기술을 이용한 도서관 협력 네트워크, 디지털 도서관, 무선통신과 소셜 미디어 등이 주가 되는 단계로서, 최근의 도서관 경향을 잘 대변해 준다. 이에 필자는 최근 미국의 도서관 정보기술 동향을 고찰하기 위해 2006년부터 현재까지 발표된 시스템 사서와 이와 관련된 직무에 대한 채용공고를 분석하였는데, 그 결과 다음의 세 가지를 도출하였다. 첫째, 'Systems Librarian'은 더 이상 도서관 자동화 시스템 관리 능력만을 의미하는 것이 아니라 각 도서관에서 필요한 다양한 정보기술의 적용과 수행능력을 요구한다. 둘째, 의외로 'network management skills'은 그다지 많이 요구되지 않는다. 마지막으로, 희귀소장자료를 다루는 부서에서 시스템 사서의 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 이러한 결과는 시스템 사서의 주요업무인 도서관 자동화 시스템을 넘어서는 정보기술들로 인해 새로운 직무들과 직책들이 생성되었음을 의미하는 것으로, 특히 최근에 가장 요구되는 정보 기술은 바로 웹과 관련된 기술들임을 확인할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 팀제 환경에 적합한 인재를 더욱 선호하는 경향이 있음을 확인할 수 있다. In 1997, Lavagnino defined four stages of technology trends in libraries; but, he left a question about the fifth stage. Based on literature review, the following; Web technology, open source application, library consortia, digitization, wireless, and social media are the main trends in the fifth stage. Analyzing the job advertisements (ads) dating from 2006 to 2010 in systems librarianship, the analysis showed that there are three patterns. The first pattern is that the title of 'system librarian' is no longer specific to managing only the ILS at many libraries. The second pattern - network management skills - is not highly required in the job ads. And the last pattern - especially academic institutions which have archive or special collection departments - was looking for a systems librarian. In addition, Web technology has evolved as the most required skill according to the advertisements, as well as inter-personal skills in a team environment.

Beryllium(II) Recognition by Allosteric Effects in 1,2-Ethylenedioxybenzene Based Ditopic Receptors

Efficient ditopic receptor, uranyl(II) N,N'-(ethylenedioxy)benzenebis(salicylideneimine) (3) for beryllium ion has been obtained upon functionalization of 1,2-ethylenedioxybenzene (1) with a uranyl-salphen (salphen =N,N'-phenylenebis(salicylideneimine)) unit. Binding affinities of the receptor, 3 in AN-DMSO (v/v 95:5)solution have been measured for alkali and alkaline earth metal ions by conductometry comparing 1. The results showed that both monotopic 1 and ditopic receptor 3 were selective for Be^(2+) ions over other cations,while especially 3 that can complex both with cations (coordinated to basic oxygen of ethylenedioxybenzene)and anions (coordinated to the Lewis acidic uranyl center) results in an increase of the stability constants by a factor of 10^(2.42) with respect to 1. Furthermore, the Be^(2+)-3 interactions are demonstrated by ^1H NMR experiments in highly polar solvent medium, DMSO-d_6. Higher selectivities were also observed for Be^(2+) when the ditopic receptor, 3 was incorporated into PVC membranes and tested as ion selective electrodes at neutral pH.
