The number and percentage of people in need of a wheelchair are increasing every year, both manual and power wheelchair users express an interest in monitoring their weight. However, frequent measurements are not possible when relying on hospital scales and models designed for home use are expensive. So the goals of this study became to create a product that's relatively inexpensive, portable, and precise, which means varying little between measurements. Secondary goals were ease of use, compatibility with different kinds of wheelchairs, and accuracy, which means achieving proximity to an actual value and isn't as important when trying to monitor increases or decreases in weight.

The chairbound, handicapped person often requires a cushion to distribute the supportive forces over the largest area possible in order to reduce the risk of the development of a pressure sore. Pressure sores are areas of damaged skin caused by staying in one position for too long and can cause serious infections, some of which are life-threatening. When sitting upright, the greatest proportion of body weight is centerd over the ischial tuberosities. So, it is important that comfortable seating and largest distribution of pressure to prevent pressure sores. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop the physical pressure measurement device and orthodontic chair to prevent pressure sores.
장애인의 이동권과 접근성 보장을 위한 특수차량 개념설계

본 연구는 장애인이 사회로부터 고립되어 살아가지 않도록 하기 위한 노력의 일환으로 특수 차량의 설계와 제작에 필요한 정보를 축적하고 승용차의 승.하차 문제에 관련된 장애인의 특별한 욕구에 상응하는 특수차량의 기구학적 개념설계를 위한 기초 단계로서 몇 가지중요한 연구목적을 설정하여 해답을 찾고자 하였다. 연구결과, 장애인 보호자와 당사자 모두 장애인의 자가운전에 대해 매우 필요하다는데 인식을 같이 하고 있었다. 장애인 차량 자가운전이 필요한 이유에 대해서는 장애인 보호자들이 일상활동과 여가에 많은 가치를 두는데 비해, 장애인은 사회활동과 경제활동에 더 많은 가치를 두고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 장애인들 원하는 차량의 특성은 이동이 편리하고, 공간이 넓고, 편안하며 휠체어를 운반하기 용이한 차를 선호하므로, 승차감이 일반 승용차만큼 우수하고 탑재공간이 넓은 차량을 개조하여 휠체어를 탑재함과 동시에 가족 구성원들과 함께 이동하기에 용이한 차량을 개발해야 할 필요가 있었다. 장애인 보호자와 장애인 당사자 모두 자가운전이 매우 필요하다는데 인식을 같이하고 있고 자가운전을 통해 장애인의 사회.경제활동 및 여가활동이 증가될 것으로 기대되고 있다. 따라서 서울의 일부지역에서만 실시하고 있는 장애인운전면허시험을 전국적으로 확대하고, 장애인 운전면허교육 기관을 확대.활성화하여 장애특성에 맞는 운전교육과 시험을 통해 장애인들의 면허취득을 활성화시켜야 할 것이다. The rights of mobility among persons with physical disabilities to live independently are basic forms of civil rights to move and navigate the community from the place where they leave to the destined intended without having neither any restrictions nor limitations. These rights include the entitlement of public services and the attainment of accessible environmental construction. There are many mobility and transportation measures for the general public, such as public buses, subway trains, vans, etc. However, one of the most convenient transportation measures should be a modified car appropriately maintained. Based on the individual needs of those who have disabilities because of the cost and the trait of persons with disabilities, all the vehicles should be designed and manufactured as possible as can. This research was aimed at investigating the individual needs and traits for modifying a special vehicle designed for persons with mobility impairments. The results of this study, which had purposes to analyze the design concept and the accommodation need for persons with physical disabilities, can be summarized as follows. First, there exists a need to modify a sports utility vehicle for ensuring a space enough to position a wheelchair user. Second, there should be established a consortium among the car manufacturers, consumers and engineers to mass product vehicles modified for wheelchair drivers. Finally, driving schools and licensing offices for persons with special needs should be much more expanded across the nation. Self-driving may greatly enhance the quality of life for disabled persons and improve the opportunity to integrate in the community where they live.
