Burn injury is occuring often in our living environment. But there has been little report on the treatment of burn on the basis of Oriental medicine. So we experienced a 53 year old female with second degree burn on the feet and reported the result of the treatment for her with Acupuncture, Herb-med, Negative therapy and Light therapy.

Objectives : Atopic dermatitis is a recurrent or chronic eczematous skin disease with severe pruritus. Although the pathogenic mechanisms of atopic dermatitis are yet unknown, recently hyperresponsive Th2 cells in the acute phase are reported as the important mechanisms. Cheonggisan(CGS) is used in oriental clinics for curing acute skin lesions of eczema, atopic dermatitis or urticaria. There have been no studies on the therapeutic mechanism of CGS for curing atopic dermatitis. We aimed to find out the therapeutic mechanism of CGS on atopic dermatitis, so we observed Th2 cell differentiation in EL 4 cells and $NF-kB$ p65 activation in RAW 264.7 cells. Materials and Methods : EL 4 cells were induced the increase of IL-4 mRNA expression by phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate(PMA) and 4-tert-Octylphenol(OP) and treated with CGS extract. RAW 264.7 cells were induced the increase of cyclooxygenase(COX)-2 mRNA expression by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and treated with CGS extract. Results : The PMA and OP induced IL-4 mRNA expression was dose-dependantly decreased in CGS treated EL 4 cells. The LPS-induced COX-2 mRNA expression was dose-dependantly decreased in CGS treated RAW 264.7 cells. Conclusion : The results may suggest that the CGS inhibits Th2 cell differentiation in EL 4 cells and inhibits $NF-kB$ p65 activation in RAW 264.7 cells.

Allergic conjunctivitis is frequent 90% of allergic reaction of eyes. It is difficult to know the cause, so it is impossible to keep away from the antigens. The purpose of the treatment is just subsiding the symptoms without side effects. We experienced one case of Allergic conjunctivitis treated with oriental medical treatment, acupuncture and herbal medication. 27 year-old male patient had diagnosed Allergic conjunctivitis by western medical doctor. He suffered from eye itching, so he couldn't sleep well. After treatment his itching was subsided and he could sleep well. Therefore, oriental medical treatments could be safe and effective methods.
Allergy성(性) 접촉피부염(接觸皮膚炎)에 대(對)한 고삼(苦蔘), 황연(黃連)의 Iontophoresis 치료(治療) 효과(效果)

Objective : This study was performed to investigate the effects of Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis in allergic contact dermatitis. Methods : Contact hypersensitivity assay, video microscope, melanin-erythema levels, pH levels, hydration levels, WBC count, RBC count, neutrophil ratio, lymphocyte ratio and total IgE levels were measured. Results : At contact hypersensitivity assay, the right ear swellings in Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis group were decreased compared with control group, but have no statistical significance. At observation of skin morphologic change, many papules were seen in control group and keratins were seen in Sophorae Radix-iontophoresis group. At melanin levels, Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis groups showed no significant difference compared with control group. At pH levels, Sophorae Radix-iontophoresis group showed significant decreased with control group. At hydration levels, Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoreses groups showed to significant difference compared with control group. WBC count, RBC count and neutrophil ratio were significantly increased in Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis group compared with control group. Lymphocyte ratio and total IgE levels were significantly decreased in Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis groups compared with control group. At morphology of skin, inflammation was decreased and the thickness of epidermis was well preserved in Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis group. Conclusion : Sophorae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma-iontophoresis had some anti-allergy, anti-inflammatory effects on allergic contact dermatitis, but had no effects on melanin-erythema levels, pH levels and hydration levels of skin.

Introduction and Objectives : Applying the saingheylyunbooemgami(SY) extract on to the atopic dermatitis(AD) is to study change of external dermal formation, change of leukocytes in vasculature, change of lipid formation in stratum corneum and distribution of ceramide and this study is done through forcing injury to rat's back skin which are lipid protect formation in stratum corneum. Materials and Methods : The AD which caused intentionally using the external application on the rat's back skin was used the SY. The change of leukocytes in vasculature has been identified through optima 5.2 and student t-test and the results were made into dermal foramtion graph. Results : After dispensing SY extract into the AD, the dermal injury was decreased, Especially, recover of lipid protection formation which include lipid and ceramide in stratum corneum is suppressing acute inflammation that some factors are PKC, TNF-${\alpha}$, lL-12B which controled the secretion of relating inflammatory cytokine, also went onto decrease of angiogenesis, and the decrese of degranulated mast cell. In addition, the decrease of epithelial injury also caused the growth of cell to decrease in stratum basale and cytoclasis. In the vasculature. the leukocytes were also decreased and it could relate to decrease AD. Conclusions : Thus. SY has effect on AD suppressing the dermal injury through recovering of lipid protection formation in stratum corneum.
