The performance of a telescope depends on the size of the primary mirror because a larger primary mirror can collect more light. The increased weight of the mirror directly affects the stiffness (compliance) issue and negatively affects optical performance. Therefore, a lightweight design of the primary mirror is essential. A typical example is the application of a pocket-shaped weight loss shape on the back side of the mirror. In this study , topology optimization was performed by applying a simplified analysis model to the 0.6 m primary mirror. The final primary mirror model is expected to have an improved optical performance compared with the previous model. In particular, the optical performance along the direction of gravity, which is most sensitive to deformation, was improved by 37%.
