      • A Broker for Cloud Resource Management and Its Experimental Performance Analysis

        When users access to use the computing resources in the cloud, they expect specific quality of service (QoS) which should be guaranteed by the service provider. Meanwhile, the service provider should adopt proper schemes to enhance the resource utilization. In this thesis, we propose the MapChem-Broker which aims to satisfy users’ QoS requirements as well as enhance the resource utilization by controlling the provision of VM resources in the cloud. On the experimental cloud testbed, we compare the proposed scheme with an existing one for VM resource provisioning. Results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing one.

        사용자들은 자신의 작업을 처리하기 위해 자신에게만 한정된 가상 컴퓨팅 자원을 클라우드 서비스 제공자로부터 할당 받아 타 사용자로부터 독립된 환경에서 작업을 처리하게 된다. 이를 자동화된 방법으로 최적화를 대신 수행해주기 위한 모델로 브로커 미들웨어가 제시되었고 마감시간을 만족하는 이내에서 자원 이용률을 높이는 접근법으로 필요 가상 머신의 숫자를 줄여 비용을 절약한다. 이를 다루는 많은 논문들에서 작업 스케줄링은 기존 사용자들간의 독립을 보장하여 하나의 가상 머신이 하나의 작업에 한정된 가상 머신에서 처리하는 방식으로 다루어지고 있다. 하지만 기존의 SRSV 방식에서는 높은 정도의 다중 프로그래밍 작업이 아닐 경우 시스템을 효율적으로 사용하지 못한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 해당 자원을 마감시간과 스래싱(thrashing), 문맥 전환(context switching)에 따른 성능 저하를 고려한 상태에서 다중 프로그래밍 정도를 높여 낭비되는 자원을 최소화하여 비용을 절약하려고 한다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안하는 방법이 제약조건 이내에서 기존의 방식에 비해 좀 더좋은 가격 대비 성능을 가지는 것을 보인다. Cloud service users request dedicated virtual computing resource from the cloud service provider to process jobs in independent environment from other users. To optimize this process with automated method, in this paper we proposed a framework for workflow scheduling in the cloud environment, in which the core component is the middleware called broker mediating the interaction between users and cloud service providers. To process jobs in on-demand and virtualized resources from cloud service providers, many papers propose scheduling algorithms that allocate jobs to virtual machines which are dedicated to one machine one job. With this method, the isolation of being processed jobs is guaranteed, but we can’t use each resource to its fullest computing capacity with high efficiency in resource utilization. This paper therefore proposed a cost-efficient job scheduling algorithm which maximizes the utilization of managed resources with increasing the degree of multiprogramming to reduce the number of needed virtual machines; consequently we can save the cost for processing requests. We also consider the performance degradation in proposed scheme with thrashing and context switching. By evaluating the experimental results, we have shown that the proposed scheme has better cost-performance feature compared to an existing scheme.

        In the process of research and development of tube bending forming technology, the way of improving the forming quality and establishing the optimization of forming process parameters has become an important problem that should be solved quickly. This text simulated the process of bend forming with the way of finite element, combined with the effects of geometric and physical parameters on the forming quality of bending pipe, taking the important parameters which are measurements of the pipe wall thickness variation as test indexes, made the virtual orthogonal experiment and gained the laws of the bending angle, relative bending radius, relative wall thickness, thrust, pipe friction coefficient between mode have effects on the forming quality of wall thinning rate and wall thickening. Through the comprehensive analysis and additional test, obtained the optimal parameters values, improved the accuracy of simulation and the optimization results of orthogonal test, improved the quality of tube bending forming.

      • The Modeling Methods of Heavy NC Machine Tool Bolt Joint Based on Virtual Media

        The Department of Heavy NC machine tool has a great influence on the performance of machine tools. The 30%-50% static stiffness, more than 50% of the dynamic stiffness depends on the combining part, and the influence on damping reached 90%.Machine tool with the Department of static and dynamic performance directly determines the accuracy and reliability of Heavy NC machine tool. Therefore, in conjunction with the Department of research and design of Heavy NC machine tool is very important. In this paper, based on Hertz contact theory, the contact at the micro level, considering the combination form of machine tool, and the machine joints as a virtual media simulation, a combination of virtual media framework, and calculation of characteristic parameters of the virtual material, then use the ANSYS Workbench to solve the combination of the natural frequency of the whole, the first five order modal extraction. Using modal test technology, get the specimens of natural frequency and damping of the true value, natural frequency are compared with theory, prove the formula of virtual media is reliable, can be used in the modeling of heavy machine tool.

        Electrochemical Behavior of Sm(III) on the Aluminium-Gallium Alloy Electrode in LiCl-KCl Eutectic

        In this study, the electrochemical behavior of Sm on the binary liquid Al-Ga cathode in the LiCl-KCl molten salt system is investigated. First, the co-reduction process of Sm(III)-Al(III), Sm(III)-Ga(III), and Sm(III)-Ga(III)-Al(III) on the W electrode (inert) were studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV), square-wave voltammetry (SWV) and open circuit potential (OCP) methods, respectively. It was identified that Sm(III) can be co-reduced with Al(III) or Ga(III) to form Al<sub>z</sub>Sm<sub>y</sub> or Ga<sub>x</sub>Sm<sub>y</sub> intermetallic compounds. Subsequently, the under-potential deposition of Sm(III) at the Al, Ga, and Al-Ga active cathode was performed to confirm the formation of Sm-based intermetallic compounds. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) analyses indicated that Ga<sub>3</sub>Sm and Ga<sub>6</sub>Sm intermetallic compounds were formed on the Mo grid electrode (inert) during the potentiostatic electrolysis in LiCl-KCl-SmCl<sub>3</sub>-AlCl<sub>3</sub>-GaCl<sub>3</sub> melt, while only Ga<sub>6</sub>Sm intermetallic compound was generated on the Al-Ga alloy electrode during the galvanostatic electrolysis in LiCl-KCl-SmCl<sub>3</sub> melt. The electrolysis results revealed that the interaction between Sm and Ga was predominant in the Al-Ga alloy electrode, with Al only acting as an additive to lower the melting point.

        Experimental and analytical investigation on RC columns with distributed-steel bar

        Distributed-Steel Bar Reinforced Concrete (DSBRC) columns, a new and innovative construction technique for composite steel and concrete material which can alleviate the difficulty in the arrangement of the stirrup in the column, were studied experimentally and analytically in this paper. In addition, an ordinary steel Reinforced Concrete (SRC) column was also tested for comparison purpose. The specimens were subjected to quasi-static load reversals to model the earthquake effect. The experimental results including the hysteresis curve, resistance recession, skeleton curves and ductility ratio of columns were obtained, which showed well resistant-seismic behavior for DSBRC column. Meanwhile a numerical three-dimensional nonlinear finite-element (FE) analysis on its mechanical behavior was also carried out. The numerically analyzed results were then compared to the experimental results for validation. The parametric studies and investigation about the effects of several critical factors on the seismic behavior of the DSBRC column were also conducted, which include axial compression ratios, steel ratio, concrete strength and yield strength of steel bar.

        Microsatellite-based Genetic Diversity and Evolutionary Relationships of Six Dog Breeds

        The Tibetan Mastiff is one of the most archaic, ferocious and the largest dogs in the world. The Kunming dog is the chief working-dog breed in China. In this study, ten microsatellite loci were used to assess the genetic diversity and evolutionary relationships in six dog breeds, including Tibetan Mastiff, Kunming dog, Belgian Malinois, Labrador Retriever, English Springer Spaniel, and German Shepherd. The highest genetic diversity was exhibited by the Tibetan Mastiff, indicating useful protection and little inbreeding in the modern Tibetan Mastiff. Higher genetic diversity was observed in European breeds, supporting the hypotheses that breeders outcross their pure breed dogs occasionally to avoid deleterious effects in Europe. Evolutionary relationships showed that English Springer Spaniel and Labrador Retriever were clustered together, then with the Tibetan Mastiff, consistent with previous cluster results. German Shepherd and Kunming dog were grouped together, coinciding with the breeding history of Kunming dog. It is the first time that Tibetan Mastiff and Kunming dog have been analyzed with microsatellites.

        Bavachin Suppresses Alpha-Hemolysin Expression and Protects Mice from Pneumonia Infection by Staphylococcus aureus

        Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) infection causes dramatic harm to human health as well as to livestock development. As an important virulence factor, alpha-hemolysin (hla) is critical in the process of S. aureus infection. In this report, we found that bavachin, a natural flavonoid, not only efficiently inhibited the hemolytic activity of hla, but was also capable of inhibiting it on transcriptional and translational levels. Moreover, further data revealed that bavachin had no neutralizing activity on hla, which did not affect the formation of hla heptamers and exhibited no effects on the hla thermal stability. In vitro assays showed that bavachin was able to reduce the S. aureus-induced damage of A549 cells. Thus, bavachin repressed the lethality of pneumonia infection, lung bacterial load and lung tissue inflammation in mice, providing potent protection to mice models in vivo. Our results indicated that bavachin has the potential for development as a candidate hla inhibitor against S. aureus.

        An analytical analysis of the pullout behaviour of reinforcements of MSE structures

        Pullout tests are usually employed to determine the ultimate bearing capacity of reinforced soil, and the load-displacement curve can be obtained easily. This paper presents an analytical solution for predicting the full-range mechanical behavior of a buried planar reinforcement subjected to pullout based on a bi-linear bond-slip model. The full-range behavior consists of three consecutive stages: elastic stage, elastic-plastic stage and debonding stage. For each stage, closed-form solutions for the load-displacement relationship, the interfacial slip distribution, the interfacial shear stress distribution and the axial stress distribution along the planar reinforcement were derived. The ultimate load and the effective bond length were also obtained. Then the analytical model was calibrated and validated against three pullout experimental tests. The predicted load-displacement curves as well as the internal displacement distribution are in closed agreement with test results. Moreover, a parametric study on the effect of anchorage length, reinforcement axial stiffness, interfacial shear stiffness and interfacial shear strength is also presented, providing insights into the pullout behaviour of planar reinforcements of MSE structures.
