Fabrication of Inorganic-organic Composites Containing Ferroelectric Nanoplates and Evaluation of their Piezoelectric Response Characteristics

        Ryo Kishimoto,Masafumi Kobune,Hiroshi Nishioka,Takeyuki Kikuchi,Hajime Kishi,Hironori Fujisawa,Seiji Nakashima,Masaru Shimizu,Satoshi Kimura 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.7

<EM>a-</EM> and <I>b</I>-axis-oriented Bi3.25Nd0.75Ti3O12 (BNT) nanoplates, 3.0 mm thick, were fabricated on conductive Nb:TiO2(101) substrates with 0.79 mass% Nb at 650C by high-temperature sputtering. Successively, the fabrication of inorganic-organic composites was carried out by introducing an epoxy resin to the spaces between BNT nanoplates. The fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) elemental mapping results confirmed that the fabricated composite was an inorganic-organic hybridized material which introduced the cured epoxy resin into the spaces between BNT nanoplates. Based on polarization reversal measurements of the fabricated BNT-epoxy resin composites by piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM), it is shown that the composites have potential as ferroelectric microelement materials.

Agarwood Inhibits Histamine Release from Rat Mast Cells and Reduces Scratching Behavior in Mice -Effect of Agarwood on Histamine Release and Scratching Behavior-

        Inoue, Eiji,Shimizu, Yasuharu,Masui, Ryo,Tsubonoya, Tomoe,Hayakawa, Tomomi,Sudoh, Keiichi KOREAN PHARMACOPUNCTURE INSTITUTE 2016 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.19 No.3

Objectives: This study was conducted to clarify the effects of agarwood on histamine release from mast cells in rats and on the scratching behaviors in mice. Methods: Histamine release from rat mast cells induced by compound 48/80 or concanavalin A (Con A) and compound 48/80-induced scratching behavior in mice were examined to investigate the effects of agarwood. The hyaluronidase activity and the 3',5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in mast cells were examined to investigate the mechanisms for the inhibition of histamine release. The correlation between the inhibitory effects of agarwood on histamine release and the content of its typical ingredients, a 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone derivatives, was analyzed using thin-layer chromatography. Results: Agarwood showed an inhibitory effect on mast-cell histamine release induced by compound 48/80 or Con A without any effect on hyaluronidase activity; this effect involves an increase in the cAMP levels in mast cells. Oral administration of agarwood showed an inhibitory effect on compound 48/80-induced scratching behavior in mice. The inhibitory effects of agarwood on histamine release were quite different, depending on the area where the agarwood was produced, its quality, and its market price. No correlation was found between the inhibitory effects of agarwood on histamine release and the typical ingredients of agarwood, which are 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone derivatives. Conclusion: These results show that agarwood inhibits histamine release from mast cells partially through an increase in the cAMP levels in cells. We suggest that some active ingredients of agarwood must be effective on oral intake and that agarwood can be used to treat patients with a number of conditions, including urticaria, atopic dermatitis, and bronchial asthma, in which an increase in histamine release occurs. Differences in the pharmacological effects of this crude drug among markets may provide important information for the quality control of this herbal medicine.

Analgesic Effects of Toad Cake and Toad-cake-containing Herbal Drugs -Analgesic effects of toad cake-

        Inoue, Eiji,Shimizu, Yasuharu,Masui, Ryo,Usui, Tomomi,Sudoh, Keiichi KOREAN PHARMACOPUNCTURE INSTITUTE 2014 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.17 No.1

Objectives: This study was conducted to clarify the analgesic effect of toad cake and toad-cake-containing herbal drugs. Methods: We counted the writhing response of mice after the intraperitoneal administration of acetic acid as a nociceptive pain model and the withdrawal response after the plantar surface stimulation of the hind paw induced by partial sciatic nerve ligation of the mice as a neuropathic pain model to investigate the analgesic effect of toad cake and toad-cake-containing herbal drugs. A co-treatment study with serotonin biosynthesis inhibitory drug 4-chloro-DL-phenylalanine methyl ester hydrochloride (PCPA), the catecholamine biosynthesis inhibitory drug ${\alpha}$-methyl-DL-tyrosine methyl ester hydrochloride (AMPT) or the opioid receptor antagonist naloxone hydrochloride was also conducted. Results: Analgesic effects in a mouse model of nociceptive pain and neuropathic pain were shown by oral administration of toad cake and toad-cake-containing herbal drugs. The effects of toad cake and toad-cake-containing herbal drugs disappeared upon co-treatment with PCPA, but not with AMPT or naloxone in the nociceptive pain model; the analgesic effect of toad-cake-containing herbal drugs also disappeared upon co-treatment with PCPA in the neuropathic pain model. Conclusion: Toad cake and toad-cake-containing herbal drugs have potential for the treatments of nociceptive pain and of neuropathic pain, such as post-herpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, diabetic neuralgia, and postoperative or posttraumatic pain, by activation of the central serotonin nervous system.

( Hideyuki Tamai ),( Yoshiyuki Ida ),( Akira Kawashima ),( Naoki Shingaki ),( Ryo Shimizu ),( Kosaku Moribata ),( Tetsushi Nasu ),( Takao Maekita ),( Mikitaka Iguchi ),( Jun Kato ),( Taisei Nakao ),( 대한간학회 2017 Gut and Liver Vol.11 No.4

Background/Aims: The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of simeprevir-based triple therapy with reduced doses of pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) and ribavirin for interferon (IFN) ineligible patients, such as elderly and/or cirrhotic patients, and to elucidate the factors contributing to a sustained virologic response (SVR). Methods: One hundred IFN ineligible patients infected with genotype 1b hepatitis C virus (HCV) were treated. Simeprevir (100 mg) was given orally together with reduced doses of PEG-IFN-α 2a (90 μg), and ribavirin (200 mg less than the recommended dose). Results: The patients` median age was 70 years, and 70 patients were cirrhotic. Three patients (3%) discontinued treatment due to adverse events. The SVR rate was 64%. Factors that significantly contributed to the SVR included the γ-glutamyl transferase and α-fetoprotein levels, interleukin- 28B (IL28B) polymorphism status, and the level and reduction of HCV RNA at weeks 2 and 4. The multivariate analysis showed that the IL28B polymorphism status was the only independent factor that predicted the SVR, with a positive predictive value of 77%. Conclusions: Simeprevir-based triple therapy with reduced doses of PEG-IFN and ribavirin was safe and effective for IFN ineligible patients infected with genotype 1b HCV. IL28B polymorphism status was a useful predictor of the SVR. (Gut Liver 2017;11:551-558)

The Real-World Safety and Efficacy of Daclatasvir and Asunaprevir for Elderly Patients

( Shinya Taki ),( Hideyuki Tamai ),( Yoshiyuki Ida ),( Naoki Shingaki ),( Akira Kawashima ),( Ryo Shimizu ),( Kosaku Moribata ),( Takao Maekita ),( Mikitaka Iguchi ),( Jun Kato ),( Taisei Nakao ),( Ma 대한간학회 2018 Gut and Liver Vol.12 No.1

Background/Aims: Although daclatasvir with asunaprevir was approved in Japan for interferon ineligible or intolerant patients, patients aged ≥75 years were excluded in the phase III trial. The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this therapy for elderly patients aged ≥75 years and to clarify whether an extremely high sustained virological response (SVR) rate can be achieved, even in a real-world setting when patients with resistance-associated substitutions (RASs) to nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A) inhibitors or prior simeprevir failure are excluded. Methods: Daclatasvir (60 mg) and asunaprevir (100 mg) were orally administered daily for 24 weeks. Patients without pre-existing NS5A RASs and simeprevir failure were enrolled in this study. Results: Overall, 110 patients were treated. The median age was 73 years old. The SVR rates of total patients, those aged ≥75 years, and those aged <75 years were 97% (107/110), 98% (46/47), and 97% (61/63), respectively. The treatment of two patients (2%) was discontinued because of adverse events. Conclusions: Daclatasvir with asunaprevir was a safe treatment, even in patients aged ≥75 years. When patients without pre-existing NS5A RASs and prior simeprevir failure were selected, an extremely high SVR rate could be achieved irrespective of age. (Gut Liver 2018;12:86-93)

Precision Measurement of Z-Slide Vertical Error Motion of an Ultra-Precision Lathe by Using Three-probe Method

        Zengyuan Niu,Yuan-Liu Chen,Daiki Matsuura,Jung Chul Lee,Ryo Kobayashi,Yuki Shimizu,So Ito,Wei Gao,오정석,박천홍 한국정밀공학회 2017 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.18 No.5

This paper presents a precision measurement of the Z-slide vertical error motion of an ultra-precision lathe based on a three-probe measurement method. The vertical error motion of the Z-slide, which is composed of the vertical parallelism error motion and the vertical straightness error motion, is measured by utilizing three displacement measuring probes to scan a self-cut roll workpiece and an accurate straightedge, respectively. A series of factors which could influence the measurement of the vertical error motion, including the error motion of the spindle, the surface form error of the reference object and the horizontal error motion of the Z-slide, are all successfully removed by using the proposed three-probe measurement system with an error separation method. The influence of the gravity induced deflection of the roll workpiece on the measurement of the Z-slide vertical parallelism error motion is also discussed. Experiments were carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed methods on a three-axis ultra-precision lathe. The vertical straightness error motion was evaluated to be 133 nm with a measurement repeatability of 21 nm and the vertical parallelism error motion was evaluated to be 12.1 μm with a measurement repeatability of 38 nm.

The Role of High Energy Boundaries and Coincidence Boundaries in the Secondary Recrystallization of Grain-Oriented Silicon Steel

        Woo, Jong Soo,Harase, Jirou,Kim, Jae Kwan,Shimizu, Ryo 대한금속재료학회(대한금속학회) 1999 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.5 No.5

The probability of grains having misorientation angles at 20°-45°(I_(HE)20-45) or a ∑9 orientation relationship (I_C∑9) was determined using the three dimensional orientation distribution obtained from the (100) pole figure. A primary recrystallized grain-oriented silicon steel specimen capable of evolving a sharp Goss texture was used. It was found that I_(HE)20-45 was higher around the Goss orientation but not the highest in the primary texture. Goss orientation has the highest I_C∑9 in the primary matrix. The assumption that orientations with a higher I_(HE)20-45 value can be nuclei for secondary recrystallization led to the prediction of secondary recrystallization not being present in the secondary recrystallization texture. However, no such contradictory prediction was made on the assumption that orientations with a higher I_C∑9 value can be nuclei for secondary recrystallization. It is concluded, therefore, that grains with misorientation angles from 20°-45° are not important in the selection mechanism of Goss secondary recrystallization.
