To elucidate a possible role for FGF9 (fibroblast growth factor9) in these events, porcine preimplantation stage embryos were characterized for the presence of FGF9 gene and protein. The objective of this study were to investigate the effects of FGF9 on hormone-stimulated porcine preimplantation stage embryos. Each embryos were collected from non-synchronized (Control; n=5) and after synchronized AI (regumate, PMSG/ hCG; n=5) sows and qPCR analyzed for FGF9 mRNA levels. The synchronization AI embryos had higher (p<0.05) FGF9 mRNA levels than that non-treated group embryos. At these stages of preimplantation development were also analyzed for immunoreactive FGF9 expression. Synchronization AI embryos were strong expression of FGF9. In contrast, non-treated embryos were remained constant during development stage. These results demonstrate the temporal variation of FGF9 mRNA abundance in hormonal stimulation and of immunoreactive FGF9 with the developmental processes occurring in the preimplantation development.

Nowadays, power-point slides are the common form of presentation at meetings or lectures. However, when it comes to explanation and demonstration, it is difficult to do so effectively on a screen that is projected from a projector. This drawback might lower the level of quality of communication between the speaker and his audience. On top of this, the speaker is constrained to a certain amount of space. Based on this fact, in this work the constructed device can be used as an extension for the existing functions and makes up for the disadvantages of projected presentations by means of a web camera which enjoys ease of use and is economically priced. It would be also used as a virtual projection display for information of tourist cave in the field.
Arrangement of Cortical Microtubules in Elongation Epicotyl of Aesculus turbinata Blume
Kang, K.D.,T. Itoh,Soh, W.Y. 全北大學校 基礎科學硏究所 1994 基礎科學 Vol.16 No.-
In order to elucidate the arrangement of microtubules (MTs) during the organ elongation, we examined the arrangements of cortical MTs in the elongating epicotyl of Aesculus turbinata by immunofluorescence microscopy using cryosections. Under both dark and light-dark growth conditions, the arrangement of MTs was associated with the rates of elongation and differed according to the region in the same epicotyl. In the component cells of epicotyl grown in dark, the arrangement of MTs was exclusively transverse in the potential active elongating region (A), relatively transverse in the active clongating region (B) and predominantly oblique in the less-elongating region (C) and in the non-elongating region (D). During the growth of epicotyl, the arrangement of MTs in the component cells was gradually altered from transverse to oblique or longitudinal direction. In light-dark grown epicotyl, the change in MT arrangement of the component cells occurs somewhat earlier than that of dark condition and shows a ratehr gradual process. That is, the arrangement of MTs was predominantly transverse in region A, predominantly oblique in region B. and relatively oblique and/or longitudinal in regions C and D. These results indicate that the change in arrangement of cortical MTs from transverse to oblique or longitudinal ones occurs in the cortex before elongation stops. Orientation of MTs in borth growht conditions seems to be steeper in the outer than in the inner parenchyma cells and to change earlier in the light-dark grown epicotyl.

Chloromethylnaphthalene is a valuable compound for obtaining of the plant growing stimulato-napthylacetic acid. Chloromethylation of naphthalene by paraformaldehyde in the presence of glacial acetic acid, phosphoric and hydrochloric acids at temperature 80-85C and duration -6 hours the-chloromenthylnapnaphtalene yield was 55-57%. Using Box- Wilson method for mathematical planning of experiment carried out optimization of its synthesis for purpose increasing- chloromethylnaphthalene yield. Preliminary, one - factor experiments were carried out for selecting for selecting independence main parameters influencing on the synthesis. A full factor experiment of 23 with extended matrix of planning was used for optimization. Aiming to increase the-chloromethylnaphthalene yield, the obtained mathematical model was used for program of sharp raising on the reply surface. The received optimal conditions for the- chloromethylnaphthalene synthesis were selected as following: molar ratio of naphthalene-parapfsormaldehyde of 1 : 2 temperature-105C duration of the reaction - 3 hours. The yield of - chloromethylnaphthalene under these optimal conditions was 75%.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the fertilizing capacity and optimum sperm concentration of liquid boar semen with BF_5 diluent in 5㎖ maxi-straw. The sperm-rich fraction of each ejaculate was slowly cooled to room temperature by 2 h after collection. Semen was centrifuged for 10 min at 1.500 rpm and the seminal plasma removed by aspiration. Semen was resuspended in BF^5 diluent to provide about 2×10^8 sperm /㎖. 6×10^8 sperm/㎖ and 10×10^8 sperm/㎖. Semen was cooled in a waterbath to 5℃ over a 2 h period and BF_5(+2% glycerol) diluent was added to cooled semen(1:1). Straws were immediately filled with 5㎖ of semen and steel or glass balls were used to seal the ends of the straws. The straws were horizontally placed on a metal rack and stored at 5℃ in a refrigerator. At insemination the straw was rediluted with 80㎖ BTS diluent. The optimum sperm concentration of liquid boar semen in 5㎖ maxi-straw was 50×10^8/5㎖. Farrowing rate and number of pigs horn alive per litter of diluted semen with 50×10^8 sperm concentration stored at 5℃ for 7 days were 85.0% and 10.11. respectively.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of estrus synchronization to altrenogest regumate (progesterone), PMSG/hCG, and artificial insemination (AI) on galectin-3, FGF-9 gene and protein expression. The morpho-metrical parameters of the endometrium and the number of corpora lutea (CL) were recorded. RNA was isolated from endometrial, oviduct and ovary tissues of non-synchronized (Control; n = 7) and AI synchronized (regumate, PMSG/hCG; n = 7) sows. The total number of CL was higher (P<0.05) in pigs treated with regumate/PMSG/hCG. The content of gelactin-3 and FGF-9 mRNA in pre-embryonic development stages increased on particular days, in control and studied in regumate/PMSG/hCG administered pigs. Gelactin-3 and FGF-9 were affected by regumate/PMSG/hCG treatment in the both pre-embryonic development stages (P<0.001, P<0.05) and encdometrial tissue (P<0.001, P<0.01). The regumate/PMSG/hCG treatment resulted in elevated expression of gelactin-3 (P<0.001) and FGF-9 (P<0.005) in oviduct and ovary tissues in comparison to control sows. Moreover, oviduct amount of gelectin-3 mRNA was higher in regumate/PMSG/hCG sows in comparison to the control group (P<0.05), whereas, expression characteristics of gelactin-3 and FGF-9 were investigated by hematoxylin and eosin stained and immunohistochemical staining. The results showed that galectin-3 and FGF-9 were significantly shown in the endometrium, oviduct and ovary tissues of the regumate/PMSG/ hCG. Presented data show that exogenous hormones administration can affect gene and protein expression in the sow reproductive tract.

Optimization of the biphenile chloromethylation process with paraphormaldegide has been done in the presence of ZnCl2 with HCI gas by the Box-Wilson method of mathematical planning of experiment. The 4,4`-(dichloromethyl)-biphenile yield dependence on the biphenile-paraphormaldegide ratio, temperature and reaction duration has been studied. A mathematical model of the process has been developed and optimal conditions for the biphenile chloromethylation procedure has been determined.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating subtype of stroke with a high mortality rate, for which there currently is no effective treatment. A perihematomal edema caused by an intense inflammatory reaction is more deleterious than the hematoma itself and can result in neurological deterioration and death. Ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) are potent free radical scavengers with potential for biomedical applications. As oxidative stress plays a major role in post-ICH inflammation, we hypothesized that CeNPs might protect against ICH. To test this hypothesis, core CeNPs were synthesized using a modified reverse micelle method and covered with phospholipid-polyethylene glycol (PEG) to achieve biocompatibility. We investigated whether our custom-made biocompatible CeNPs have protective effects against ICH. The CeNPs reduced oxidative stress, hemin-induced cytotoxicity, and inflammation in vitro. In a rodent ICH model, intravenously administered CeNPs were mainly distributed in the hemorrhagic hemisphere, suggesting that they could diffuse through the damaged blood-brain barrier. Moreover, CeNPs attenuated microglia/macrophage recruitment around the hemorrhagic lesion and inflammatory protein expression. Finally, CeNP treatment reduced the brain edema by 68.4% as compared to the control. These results reveal the great potential of CeNPs as a novel therapeutic agent for patients with ICH.
