In order to examine the factors that lead to skin care specialists working in spas to leave their jobs, the present study conducted a questionnaire survey. The results are as follows. First, the working hours for most of the skin care specialists exceeded the legal work hour limit, and while there were fewer than 4 days of rest days per month, they were suffering from relatively low average monthly income of about a million won. Second, the skin care specialists have a lot of interest in various techniques and marketing strategies related to their work, which indicated the need for placing focus on the development of work techniques and education on marketing strategies when it comes to training programs and reeducation. Third, they generally had severe stress and physical fatigue due to excessive work; were affected by interpersonal relations in the workplace; had the perception that difficulties of self improvement contributes to quitting the job; their family conflicts were severe; conflict with their values was high; and the more uncomfortable the relationships with customers got, the more they chose to call it quits. The results suggested that even if there is a high degree of awareness of the relations in the workplace or characteristics of the business and work, in order for these factors to lead the skin care specialists to leave their job, there needs to be substantial conflicts regarding family, values, and customers.
