The aged population of Korea has been drastically increased and this situation is hardly found in the OECD countries. Aging brings several social, economic changes and also creates the large portion of senior workers in the future labor market.
The purpose of this study was to test factors affecting life satisfaction of elderly people and to provide some provable data about how elderly people prepare for their's job performance and its activation.
The participants were old people who lived Cheongju and participated in elderly people's job-creating projects.
The finding of this study were as follows:
First, health and economic condition had influence on life satisfaction. The results of regression analysis showed that economic condition had the strongest influence on life satisfaction. Therefore, it is more appropriate to approach the policy about elderly people's participation in job performance and training program and arrangement of the expert, and professionalism of institutions are necessary.
Second, the results of regression analysis showed that family and friend support had the same influence on life satisfaction. They were found that family and friend support are elderly people's powerful supporters and they also affect the elderly people's choice for job performance and their actual job performance. In this point of view, education program for the elderly participants was essentially required to provide some information about utilizable methods of friend support. We are expecting that the elderly people's active job performance will be performed when family support recognize the elderly to be valuable social resources and keep supporting the elderly to participate in job performance.
Third, They were found that motivation for the participation and types of organization were not operated on life satisfaction.
The reason might be that mostly elderly people satisfied their job performance . Elderly people had a strong desire about employment stability. Most of the job participants want the job performance to be continued. Moreover the elderly people show enthusiasm and satisfaction through the job participation.
This tells us that even though the government is putting huge budget into the job-creating projects, there are still long way to haul for reaching up to the satisfaction level. Therefore more budget should be allocated to increase more involvement of the old generation.
