This study analyzed what educational effectiveness interactive whiteboard has through the cases of actual classes as interactive whiteboard has spreaded as ICT instruction media by 'smart education promotion strategy' performed in middle schools from 2011. And actual instruction model and its results were suggested based on limitation generated from using interactive whiteboard during class.
In chapter II, the definition and characteristics of interactive whiteboard were investigated as the instruction manual of art education and the appropriateness of using interactive whiteboard by analyzing the use of ICB in curriculum of 2009 was evaluated. And, the necessity of interactive whiteboard in art education was evaluated by investigating the importance and educational effect of using interactive whiteboard. In chapter III, the status of using interactive whiteboard that is being used in practical education of middle school art class and actual case of class were analyzed and its results were suggested. Visual literacy, connectivity of content area, connectivity among the subjects and integrated education and teaching & learning method that are the educational effectiveness of interactive whiteboard were investigated based on the cases of actual art practice classes and limitation and suggestion were provided. In chapter IV, the instruction model was suggested based on actual limitation and suggestion that were suggested previously and its results were analyzed and the effectiveness of class using interactive whiteboard.
If summarizing the educational effectiveness of using interactive whiteboard in the practical art class, it is as followings.
First, visual literacy can be raised. The students could raise discernment against visual images through the courses that they select the images required for themselves.
Second, the contents such as 'experience, 'expression' and 'appreciation' can be learned by linking each of them. Students had the time of criticism through the time of appreciation activity right after expression activities.
Third, the integrated education can be accomplished based on connectivity among the subjects. The linked class was enabled to be carried out by connecting geography with art subjects like previous cases.
Fourth, the autonomy of students can be raised by motivation against new media, color of software and the variety of selecting the line in respect of teaching/learning method.
As the result of performing the classes based on actual instruction model. the educational effect was as followings. The interactive whiteboard as new media was the tool that motivates the motivation of expression. It was useful because the students made, modified and supplemented the works easily with providing various digital colors and functions of edit and the students who did not show their confidence in various digital colors and supply of edit function made their works with the interest. The increase of connectivity along the interaction and improvisation along the interaction among the students because the immediate response and comments can be heard as they enjoyed of watching TV right after making education materials.
The use of interactive whiteboard enables students to understand the visual culture by digital media that exists in daily life and capable of raising aesthetic sensibility that can cope with such environment. It gives the opportunity that is enable the students to experience the visual formation through the experience of new expression media and raise the motivation of expression by giving the students who are in their adolescent period and feel lack of expressiveness and talent as the characteristics of digital devices that are easily adjusted or modified. And it has the educational meaning in respect of competent talent who are capable of information telecommunication technology.
