부모의 신념체계와 아동의 학업성취도에 관한연구 = A Study on Parental Belief Systems and Child's Academic Achievement

This Study based on literature bearing on parental belief systems, attempts to define correlation between parental belief systems and child's academic achievement.
By way of defining the correlation, specific questions are raised as follows.
1. How does parental belief systems differ?
2. How child's academic achievement differs in relation to parental belief systems?
3. How child's academic achievement differs in relation to parental belief systems and child's age?
This study was conducted with the participation of 46 second graders and 40 fifth graders of primary schools and parents. As a method, it adopted questionnaire survery and interview. For the significance test X²-test, t-test, and ANOVA were used.
As a result, this study revealed the following:
1. Parents showed a consistent belief systems in the origin of belief and educational goals. But it partially vary with parents in values regarding education for child.
In belief systems, most of parents gave importance to environment and endeavor. In educational goals, physical development took precedence over others.
2. When mothers attribute the origin of belief in child development to genetic factors, child's academic achievement was highest. When fathers put emphasis on the cognitive development of child, child's academic achievement was highest.
3. Child's academic achievement had little to do with parental belief systems and child's age.
