무용의 사회학적 역할과 가치에 관한 고찰

The purpose of this study is, from sociological viewpoint, to look over what's the function and value of dancing in modern society throughout the areas of policy, economy and education, and then to look into how it has affected on each area.

As the times and society have changed, dancing as a sports has also changed in its function and role, especially in modern society an aspect of the change has been diversified all the more. In addition, dancing has a close relation to our life concerning its political, economical and educational value and function.

The results of study can be summarized as follows:
First, from the political viewpoint, it's fount that dancing reflects the political situation of the times, and by functioning as 'a culture ambassador', thus by raising the image of the nation, dancing plays the role of establishing the nation's identity internally and externally.

Second, from a viewpoint of economic function, dancing could be, with increased demand & supply of performing arts, the means for direct ․ indirect advertisement or publicity of company or organization, city. Thus, it may contribute to the development of regional society, which could lead to the revitalization of regional economy.

Third, dancing education contributes to the processes not only of one's character formation, its ultimate purpose, but also of an individual's socialization. Here, socialization means that people have gradually chosen an occupation of the fields, related to dancing, on which a social role or position of an individual rely. It suggests that dancing-related, various specialized personnels could create a new value by playing their roles through subdivided, various occupations.

Like this, it's found that dancing has influenced on throughout the whole of society with various roles and close relevance, which suggests that a new possibility also is expected. Therefore, a sociological research of dancing is needed in the future, for supporting that, it's judged that a new studies field of dancing-sociology should be urgently established.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 현대 사회 속에서 무용이 어떠한 역할과 가치를 지녔는지를 사회학적 관점을 적용하여 정치적, 경제적, 교육적 분야에 걸쳐 살펴보고, 각각의 측면에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 규명하는데 그 일차적인 목적이 있다.

무용은 시대와 사회가 변함에 따라 그 기능과 역할이 변화되어 왔고, 특히 복잡다단한 현대 사회에 이르러서는 더욱 변화의 양상이 다양해지고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 우리생활과도 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있다.

이러한 무용의 정치적, 경제적, 교육적 가치와 역할은 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다.
첫째, 무용은 정치적으로 그 시대적 정치적 상황을 반영하며, 무용이 문화대사 역할을 함으로써 국가이미지를 고양시켜 국가 내‧외적으로 정체성을 확립하는 역할을 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

둘째, 무용의 경제적 역할로는 공연예술의 수요 공급과 더불어 기업이나 단체, 도시의 직‧간접적 광고나 홍보의 수단이 될 수도 있다. 그에 따라 지역사회 개발로 인한 지역경제 활성화를 가져올 수 있다는 점도 알 수 있었다.

셋째, 무용교육은 인격형성의 궁극적인 목적뿐만 아니라 개인의 사회화되는 과정을 담당하기도 한다. 여기에서 사회화란 집단이나 타인과의 상호작용에 관여하는 사회성과, 개인의 사회적 역할이나 위치를 결정짓는 무용과 관련된 분야의 직업을 갖게 됨을 뜻한다. 무용과 관련된 다양한 전문 인력들은 세분화된 다양한 직업을 통하여 그 역할을 분담, 담당하고 그에 따른 새로운 가치를 창출해낼 수 있음을 시사해 주었다.

이처럼 무용은 사회 전반에 걸쳐 긴밀하게 연관되어 다양한 역할을 가지고 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었으며 그에 따른 새로운 가능성 또한 기대해 볼 수 있다. 따라서 무용의 사회학적 연구가 요청되며 이를 뒷받침하기 위해서는 무용사회학이라는 학문의 체계가 시급히 이루어져 할 것으로 사료된다.
