자연 이미지의 조형적 표현연구 : <블루 마운틴> 시리즈 작품을 중심으로 = A study on formative expression through natural image : focusing on my work "Blue Mountain" series

국문 초록 (Abstract)

예술창작에 있어서 자연과의 교감은 내면의 상상을 통해 다양한 표현으로 나타나게 된다. 본인의 그림을 통해 여과된 자연이미지는 추상적 탐구 과정으로 전개되고 발전하게 된다. 그 과정에서 다양한 재료의 사용을 시도하고 탐색하면서 구상과 추상을 거쳐 최종적으로 <블루 마운틴> 연작작업에 심취하게 되었다고 볼 수 있다. 청색을 주로 사용하였지만, 구상과 추상의 과정을 거친 만큼 앞으로 소개할 블루 마운틴 연작은 여러 가지 의미를 가진다. 작품에 전반적으로 드러나고 있는 가장 특징적인 사항은 주색인 청색과 자연변화에 따른 계절의 다양한 색채의 조화로움이다.
그 중에서도 주제가 되는 청색을 다양하게 사용하여 작품이 구상과 추상적인 면과 함께 어우러지도록 표현하고자 했다.
또한 이러한 탐구는 시간이 흐르면서 산의 형태나 재현에만 집착하지 않고 산과 자연의 조형이라는 본질적인 형태에 도달하는데 밑거름이 되었다. 본인의 그림에서 사용된 청색의 색채는 상징적 역할을 하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 청색은 인간의 자유로움을 상징하는 동시에 감각적인 예술가들의 내면세계를 표현하기에 적합하다고 본다. 자유로운 내면세계 속에는 질서와 아름다움이 존재하며, 이것이 곧 작품으로 표현되었다.
화면구성에 색채만을 염두에 두지는 않았다. 재료의 다양한 실험적 시도를 끊임없이 이뤄가면서 청색이 상징하고 있는 자유로움 속에서 절제된 아름다움의 효과를 최대한으로 높이고자 했다. 공간창출의 방법으로 그리기, 긁기, 지우기, 생략 등의 복합적인 제작과정이 새롭게 변화되고 새로워진 표현방법을 찾고자 했다. 또한 전통적인 미술재료 뿐만 아니라 흙, 유리가루, 모래, 필름가루 등의 다양한 시도를 해 봄으로써 거침과 부드러움의 조화를 통해 조형질서의 아름다운 느낌을 표현하는데 도달했다.
본 연구에서는 풍경화사생을 통해 얻은 자연이미지의 영감은 단순한 작업이 아니었음을 피력하고 싶다. 자연은 존재 이상의 의미를 지니고 있다고 생각한다. 인생처럼 그림도 즐겨라 라는 본인의 의지는 비단 그림이나 예술 활동에만 국한된 것은 아닐 것이다. 자연과 우리는 한 공간에서 숨 쉬고 존재한다. 그리고 그 안에서 하나의 리듬을 타고 순환한다고 볼 수 있다.
본인은 바로 자연과 인간이 하나 되는 순간에 나타나는 생리, 즉 드러남과 감추어짐 그리고 호기심과 즐거움을 다음 작품들을 통해서 표현하고자 했다. 본인은 작품들을 통해 자연이 함께 어우러져 내적 표현을 통해 춤추기도 하며, 모든 가능성의 미(美)의식이 숨겨진 채로 산이 가진 기(氣)의 흐름을 느낄 수 있길 바란다.
블루 마운틴 연작은 마지막이 아님을 전제하고 싶다. 블루 마운틴의 새로운 시도는 계속될 것이며, 그시도에 걸 맞는 연작들로 이어질 것이다.
이것은 상실과 허무와 우울함이 아닌 행복과 희망의 소망을 본인의 조형의지로 표출하고자 하는 내면의 속삭임 때문이다. 세상을 향해 본인이 가지고 있는 회화적인 총체적 심미안을 블루 마운틴 작업으로 계속해서 나타내고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Mutual Sympathy with nature in creating activities is expressed variously through internal imagination. Natural image filtered by my pictures were developed through abstract quest course. I was finally infatuated with <Blue Mountain> series trying to use and search diverse materials and through designing and recollecting. I mainly used blue colour in my paintings but blue mountain series which will be introduced in this thesis have various meaning because it had taken from designing and recollecting course. The main characteristics exposed in my arts are the blue which is main colour and harmonizing colours together with seasonal change.
As time goes by, I did not adhere to shaping and reproducing the mountains. Rather I tried to express my works harmonized both conceptual and abstract aspect using by blue colour. and these efforts contributed to reach essential shape of mountains and nature. Blue colour used in my works symbolizes freedom of human and is very compatible for expressing internal world of sensitive artists. There is order and beauties in free internal world and these points are expressed in my works.
I also did not concentrate colour only in composing canvas. But I have done experimental trial of materials continuously to take out maximum effect of blue colour symbolizing restrained beauties of free nature. I have sought to new way of expression experimenting such as drawing, scratching, erasing and omitting to creating space. I used not only traditional artistic materials but tried to use soil, glass fragment, sand, film powder. I finally arrived expressing beautiful feeling of shape order matching between rough and softness.
In this thesis, I would say that inspiration of image acquired by sketching landscape was not simple work. I think the nature has meaning more than being itself. My willingness or maxim, enjoy your drawing just like your life, will not be limited in the artistic activities. People and nature breathe and live in the same space and circulate riding rhythm inside.
I tried to express exposing and hiding, curiosity and joyfulness of providence of nature when nature and human become one. I want people to feel and dance with my work matching to the beauty of nature. and I hope that the people to realize flow of energy which has hidden possibility.
<Blue Mountain> series is not final. It will be continued by new style blue mountain and another series will be followed.
These efforts are originated not because of lost and nihility but because of happiness and aspiration. I wished to express shaping willingness of my own through internal whispering. I will continue to do my blue mountain work through my overall pictorial esthetic appreciation toward the world.
