유치원 원장 자격 연수에 대한 예비원장의 인식 및 요구 = A Study on perception and needs of pre-service directors on the kindergarten director`s certificate program in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purposes of this study aims to examine perception and needs of pre-service directors on the kindergarten director`s certificate program in Korea. To collect data, a survey was conducted with 154 trainees who participated at the kindergarten director`s certificate program provided by Korea National University of Education from August to September, 2012 and in-depth interviews were also conducted with 8 out of 154 trainees. Findings reveal that 1) in regard to the objectives of the certificate program, trainees agreed with the program`s goals, ``to develop director`s qualification and ability``, ``to improve director`s job competency``. They recognized highly the importance and practical helpfulness found within the content of the certification program; 2) regarding certification program management, they observed that certification programs in advanced countries generally focus on length of time and teaching methods while mentoring aspects receive less attention; 3) regarding the programs effectiveness, trainees found Korea`s program to be satisfactory and to provide a very useful chance to develop their competency beyond the certifying license, to share information and difficult experiences, and to refresh their professional goals and objectives. In light of these perceptions, the trainees were able to offer the following suggestions for improvements to the existing certification program; strengthen educational content according to leadership and administrative affairs, design learner-based curriculum, mentor education, and mentoring practice based on mentee`s needs.
