이동공간으로서 엘리베이터의 확장된 전이성 연구 = The Expanded Transition of the Elevator as a Moving Space

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

(Background and Purpose) With the current demand for the fluid and diversified programs of modern architectural space, the concept of fixed space is changing into something diverse and flexible. Thus, the circulation space also works as a leading element, instead of an additional element while the meaning and interpretation are expanding. The objective of this study is to examine the relation between modern elevator space and architectural space, and if the value transitional concept has been expanded in the aspect that the transitional concept of elevator as a moving space, one of the representative circulation spaces is changing from the functional aspect to the aspect of value. (Method) This study, first, establishes the theoretical concepts of circulation space and elevator. Second, through the analysis on the changed relations between modern elevator space and architectural space, the expanded transitional concept is drawn, and then how it has been expressed into modern elevator is considered. Third, through the case analysis on architecture showing the expanded value of elevator based on the analyzed transitional concept, the aspect of the transitional concept of elevator as a moving space is drawn. (Results) On top of the analysis on the meaning, role, and characteristics of elevator and circulation space, analyzing ①connectivity of internal space, and ②relations between internal and external spaces, the concepts of physical transition, visual transition, and temporal transition between elevator and architectural space were drawn. First, the physical transition buffers or expands more than two conflictual spaces, leads the spacial harmony, and also lets users`` behaviors newly change through the repetition of physical elements. Second, the visual transition makes it possible to have observation in the vertical new aspect and also visually draws the overall unity of space, which makes it possible that space is gradually expanding and unpredictable scenes can be visually realized. Third, the temporal transition makes it possible to realize abstract phenomenons showing new value as it confers with physical/visual objects, and also get overlapped in accordance with the temporal flow of memory. In the results of analyzing architectural cases based on such transitional concepts, total seven expanded concept keywords including connectivity, convergence, independence, unity, unpredictability, transparency, and expandability were drawn. (Conclusions) Social changes have influence on the awareness and concept of space, which is eventually realized as a physical truth having influence on humans`` experience and form. This study aimed to suggest the expanded concept and modern characteristics of transition by considering the expandability of interpretation and value of modern elevator as a moving space.
